Liquid Sky Lacquer ~ Babi’s Bur-Bindi

Liquid Sky Lacquer ~ Babi’s Bur-Bindi
Strong linear burgundy holo

You probably won’t be surprised if I tell you that I like holos. I like scattered holos, glitter holos and linear holos. I love the look of some pretty rainbows on the nails – which is why linear holos probably are my favourites. And if there’s an indie brand that can pull off extreme holos, it’s Liquid Sky!

I must admit that I don’t really think this is burgundy, but I’ll get back to that later. The formula is good, and the coverage is great. It was almost opaque after the first coat. A second coat made the little irregularities disappear. The drying time between coats is good, no problems to report.

And here’s what it looks like. Two coats, no topcoat, the pic is taken with flash:

Look at those rainbows! Aren’t they just amazing!!

The rainbows aren’t shy, that’s for sure. Here’s a low light picture taken without flash:

Pretty good, wouldn’t you say?
I find the colour really hard to describe. To me it’s a mix between dark pink and some sort of brown. I couldn’t pull that off by itself for sure! I decided to add some purple stripes. I used Plum GEE-nius, which is a strong linear purple holo. It’s a Facebook group custom, and I showed it here
When the stripes were dry, I applied a layer of Ellagee’s topcoat “Glass”, and my mani was done.

Here’s what it ended up looking like:

And another flash pic:

Here’s a low light picture. It was really hard to capture the colour. I think my camera got distracted by the dark purple and the rainbows. This is my best shot:

Liquid Sky Lacquers come in a little bag which colour matches the polish inside. I love that, and I want a rainbow of Liquid Sky Lacquers.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Extreme holo, amazing!
Overall impression: Fantastic polish, I love the formula, the drying time and the rainbows! I’m not quite sure that the colour is me.
Buy again: No

Chirality ~ Echelon

Chirality ~ Echelon
Light teal/turquoise scattered holo

Echelon is described as teal, but I think it’s leaning turquoise. It’s pretty no matter what – I’m going to prove that to you.

So, the formula is good. It takes two easy and fast drying coats to make Echelon shine. I’ve come to really like Chirality’s polishes. I think they’re really cool and good quality for a reasonable price!

Here’s what two coats and no topcoat looks like taken with flash:

I love the look of the scattered holo!

The polish is also really pretty in lower lights:

I was in the mood for stamping, so I picked a hearts design from Moyou London’s stamping plate Princess Collection-11, and I stamped with a beautiful dark teal scattered holo from A England: Saint George. I’ve had a crush on Saint George since I first laid eyes on him!

Anyway – here’s what my mani ended up looking like. The picture is taken with flash:

A low light picture:

And a final picture, just because I like the way it ended up.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Good
Finish: Scattered holo, not quite bold enough for me to wear on its own – but perfect as underwear colour like here!
Overall impression: Good quality!
Buy again: Yes

Musical Mani Monday, week 11: Deep Purple ~ Gipsy’s Kiss

I’ve been looking forward to this particular challenge. Not because I had in mind what to do, because I had no clue, but I do really like Deep Purple.

But after having been excited over the song choice for a while, I started to think about how I would interpret it. I knew that I wanted to include purple, but how on earth do you interpret “Gipsy’s Kiss”? I was around clothing, colours, impressions of gipsy’s lives, you name it. This is the mani I ended up with:

Do you like it? Here’s the gipsy that inspired me:

Disney’s Esmaralda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame! I found my inspiration in her clothes.

The light blue is Darling Diva’s Blue Diamond; a lovely sky blue holo. It’s a dream – and it’s a one coater. The gold stripes are made with Sally Hansen’s Gilded Lily from the Salon line. And the deep purple on my tips is Pahlish’s My Bespoke Psychopath, a beautiful holo, also a one coater.

Here’s what the mani looks like in lower lights and without flash:

Here’s the Darling Diva “Blue Diamond” I used as my base colour. This, sweet ladies, is one coat only!

And here are the polishes I used.

That was the elleventh challenge in my Music Mani Monday. Next week is the last one up: Royals with Lorde. Please stay tuned.

Now please head over to the other girls to see what they came up with!

NailNation 3000 ~ Phab Phalanges BB

NailNation 3000 ~ Phab Phalanges BB
Pink toned burgundy linear holo

It’s time for another NailNation polish! I received four of them last time I ordered from Norway Nails, and today I’ll show you two of the four.

Phab Phalanges is actually a bit hard to describe, colourwise. It’s burgundy, yes, but sometimes it looks dark red, sometimes berry and sometimes plum.

The formula is good and the polish applies easily. I used two coats to make it fully opaque, but this polish is so pigmented that I’m going to try stamping with it as well. Drying time between the coats is fast.

And I had sunshine again, yay!

Phab Phalanges BB shows itself from it’s rose coloured side on this picture taken in the sun:

And here it looks darker. It’s also taken in the sun.

When I moved away from the sun and into lower lights, the burgundy side showed up. Please note that there are still visible rainbows!

This picture is taken with flash:

I made some simple lines and dots on it. First I made stripes on two fingers and dots on three. I used another NailNation 3000 for that purpose, namely Holo Dreams, which is a strong holographic silver. When that was dry, which means pretty much after I had done the other hand, I made black lines over the silver lines, and made random black dots amongst the silver dots.

Here’s a picture taken in natural light – the sun had just hidden behind a cloud:

The sun came out again for this pic:

And here’s your low light picture:

Verdict:
I wasn’t quite sure that this is what I wanted, but the mani honestly grew on me. I didn’t intend to use black when I started, but the black gave the mani the edge that I wanted, so I don’t regret that choice at all.
What say you? Do you like stripes and dots in the same mani, or is it too much?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Good
Removal: No problem at all
Overall impression: I love the holos in the sunshine. The colour may be a bit too dusty for me to love it out of the sunshine.
Buy again: No, I don’t think so

I bought both Phab Phalanges BB and Holo Dreams from norwaynails.com.

Kiko Digital Collection ~ Swatches

Kiko Digital Collection ~ #438, 439, 440, 441 and 442
Swatches

I thought I might as well show you the Digital collection from Kiko now I’m at the swatching. The collection has six polishes in it, and I bought five of them.

The first one is #438 Fascinating Burgundy. It’s not really burgundy, but magenta. It’s a jelly with matching glitters in it. It’s easy to work with, and I used two coats plus topcoat for these pictures. Drying time is relatively fast.

Take a look:

This is probably my favourite of the collection.

Mmm yes, delicious!

Verdict:
A winner for sure.

Next one is #439 Cyber Red – a red jelly with red glitters. I have a soft spot for this type of polish, but however nice this one is, it’s not my favourite. I used two coats for my swatches, and it worked in real life. The camera would have preferred a third coat though, but oh well!

Two coats plus topcoat:

It is a beautiful red!

And the glitter is comfortably dense :D

Verdict:
Definitely also a keeper!

Now it’s time for #440 Electron Blue. It’s a vibrant blue jelly with matching glitter. I also used two coats for this one, and I really liked the result.

Two coats plus topcoat:

This colour is really amazing, so vibrant and cool.

This is my favourite pic.

Verdict:
The winners just keep on coming!

Fourth one up is #441 Illusion Green.
I also used two coats for these swatches, but this one had a surprise in it. I didn’t notice it before I looked at the pictures, but Illusion Green has got holo bar glitters in it! Seriously, I could not see that on my nails in real life!

Two coats plus topcoat:

There’s also more holo glitter in this one than there is in the others in the collection.

The holo glitters appear yellow on my pictures, but they changed colours in real life.

Verdict:
I think I’ll try and layer this over a really dark green at some point, to enhance the prettiness of the holo and green-combo!

Last one is #442 Techno Black.
This one is special and the only one in the collection that has micro hologlitter in it. It has also got microglitters in blue. Two coats like the rest of them plus a layer of topcoat:

This is like a beautiful night sky! I love the added blue shimmers!

Here’s a flash picture for you to show off the holo goodness!

Verdict:
I’m not usually a black polish fan, but I like this one because of the added holo and shimmer.

Overall impression:
Oh yes, Kiko also knows how to make great glitters. I am not a fan of jellies in general, but these are really easy to work with, and they only require two coats. I like the quality and I love the colours, so yes, there’s two polished thumbs up from me!
I should mention that there is one more polish in the Digital collection, namely #437 Intuitive Pink, which is a light pink glitter.

The collection was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Relatively fast
Finish: Really cool glitters
Overall impression: Great quality, great colours, great polishes!
Buy again: Yes

NailNation 3000 ~ Doppelgänger

NailNation 3000 ~ Doppelgänger
purple based deep blue linear holo

NailNation 3000 makes some seriously cool and strong holos! Doppelgänger is one of them! It’s deep blue, it’s strong and it’s gorgeous. Let me show you what I’m talking about!

The formula is good and the opacity is great. It takes two coats to make this baby show the prettiest rainbows. Drying time between the coats is fast. No problems to report so far.

I was lucky – the sun was out!! Take a look at how pretty two coats and no topcoat is:

OMG, I just love, love, love this polish!

Pretty rainbows that aren’t shy! I don’t know what more to ask for!!

I stamped on it! I used a plate from Bundlemonster called BM-412, and I stamped with Color Club’s Cloud Nine, which is from the Halo Hues collection. It’s baby pink and the holo is amazingly strong.

Here’s what my final mani ended up looking like:

Holo on holo – it doesn’t get much better than that!!

And one last shot while the sun was still shining. OMG I’ve missed the sun so much!

Verdict:
That is yet another winner from NailNation 3000. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of linear holos – they are so special to me! I love that this dries really fast and that the holo effect is so strong. I’ve seen some compare this to OPI DS Glamour, but I don’t have that, so I can’t comfirm it.

What do you think? Do you like this or isn’t it your kind of polish?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Good
Removal: No problem at all
Overall impression: Amazingly beautiful and strong holo. Dark and mysterious colour – I love it!
Buy again: Yes, definitely!

I bought Doppelgänger from norwaynails.com.
