Different Dimension ~ Dueling Unicorns

Different Dimension ~ Dueling Unicorns
Purple linear holo

Occasionally I buy a polish because of its name. Dueling Unicorns could easily have been such a polish, but honestly: I bought it because it’s beautiful!

The formula is good and it covers in two easy coats. the drying time is good, no worries there.

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat:

The rainbows are mesmerizing!!

It’s pretty in low lights too, and the rainbows still shine.

I thought I had a great idea, but it didn’t turn out really well. I made chevrons on two nails using nail guides. I used Rival de Loop’s Lost in Space. I also made a vertical line on the rest of the nails with that.

You only get one picture of that:

I was really disappointed in this, it doesn’t look anything like I imagined. I actually ended taking it off again and doing another mani, even though it was a little late at night for that. Oh well.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Durability: 30 minutes, haha!
Overall impression: I love Dueling Unicorns. Great name, fantastic polish!
Buy again: Yes!

A2Z Challenge: Z is for Zig Zags

We have reached the last post in the row of alphabet-posts now. This week is dedicated to ZigZags. I like zigzags.

The base colour I used is from NailNation 3000 and is called Mischievous. It’s alovely blue linear holo with shimmer. Two coats of prettiness and then I was ready to do some taping. I used tip guides and painted silver glitter on my tips. The silver glitter is from Essense’s Crazy Good Time collection and it’s called Glitterastic. Great glitter. Five black dots on each line and a layer of topcoat and my ZigZag mani was ready:

When I looked at it first I thought: “OMG, I’ve only made zigs, there are no zags!” But a closer look revealed that there are Zigs on half my nails and Zags on the other half of my nails. Perfect, yes?

Here’s a low light picture, just because.

I also wanted to show you Mischievous on its own. I love that polish!

Here’s your last chance to check out what the other girls did for this last challenge. Go go go!!

Pahlish ~ Caramel Apple Orchard

Pahlish ~ Caramel Apple Orchard
Cherry red linear holo with shimmer

Caramel Apple Orchard is from the Happy Holoween Collection from 2014.

The formula is great and the polish applies easily and effortlessly. The drying time between the coats is good, and I used two coats for full opacity.

I feel a little bit bad for having let it sit in the infamous box of untrieds for so long, but hey, a girl has only got ten fingernails and only so much time to polish them.

Here it is in all its beauty. Two coats and no topcoat taken with flash:

Oooh I love this polish. The holo glows from within!

This low light picture shows that it isn’t a true red. I love cherry reds though so I am not complaining!

I found a swirly motif on stamping plate BP-L 003 and I stamped with Sally Hansen’s Sterling Silver from the Color Foil collection. Here’s the final mani taken with flash:

Low light picture.

I love this, Caramel Apple Orchard is beautiful. Unfortunately it was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Durability: Lasts good
Overall impression: Lovely cherry red. Great quality polish!
Buy again: If I could: Definitely!

I am a winner!

I participated in a giveaway on Ann-Sofie's blog Colour it recently, and I was so lucky to actually win! I was thrilled, and even more thrilled when the package showed up. It was a mix of polishes and beauty products, and I'm always curious to try out something new.

Let me show you what I won.

Three polishes:

Nicole by OPI: One Less Lonely Glitter, Isadora: Beetle Green, Uslu Airlines: XMS (?)

Glitters are always welcome in my stash. I already own Beetle Green and I love it! The deep red from Uslu Airlines is called probably called XMS, I'm not quite sure. It's a new brand to me :)

Over to the lotions:

LdB bodylotion & Bliss FatGirlSlim skin firming cream

The LdB smells really nice!

I got stuff for the hair:

Michael Van Clarke: Life extending hair care & Moroccan Oil treatment

My boyfriend found it hilariously funny that I got a cream called "3 more inches" :D Never mind him: my hair is looking forward to trying both of them.

And last but not least:  CC cream and vitamins:

Biotherm: CC crema & My Vitamins: Lemon flavoured tablets

There was also an eyeliner in the package, but I forgot to photograph it! Doh @ self!

Thank you so much Ann-Sofie, I am really pleased that I won this lovely package! ♥

NailNation 3000 ~ Eve (reformulated) 2014

NailNation 3000 ~ Eve (reformulated) 2014
Cornflower blue linear holo with holo glitter

I love a good blue holo, and it’s even better if there’s added extra holo glitter. Eve has got all that, so yes, I was happy when it finally arrived.

The formula is good but a little on the sheer side. It took three coats to achieve desired opacity. Fortunately the drying time is good, so I survived the extra coat, haha.

Here’s what it looks like. Three coats and a layer of topcoat.

Isn’t it just gorgeous?

It gets a little bit dusty in low lights, but the glitters show better. Prettay!

I stamped on it. I found a motif on Moyou London’s stamping plate Fashionista Collection-13 and I stamped with a no name white stamping polish.

Low light picture:

I am really glad I bought this polish because I like it a lot!

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Linear holo with holo glitter
Overall impression: Little bit sheer, but really pretty and I love the rainbows

El Corazón Confetti ~ 510a

El Corazón Confetti ~ 510a
Deep pink jelly with pink glitter

Chcek this out if you love both pink and glitter! El Corazón has made this beautiful polish, that I loved from the moment I laid eyes on it.

The formula is good and the polish applies easily. It covers really well for a jelly, and I used two coats for full opacity. The drying time was average, which I was a little bit disappointed in, because EC’s usually dry pretty fast. But yes, this is definitely worth the extra wait.

Here’s two coats and a layer of fast drying topcoat:

I love, love, love these microglitters! I think they’re gorgeous!

I stamped on it first. I found a groovy pattern on Moyou London’s stamping plate Fashionista Collection-01 and I stamped with NailNation 3000’s Black. Then I made a silvery holo-dot in each little “cell”. I used a no name Cosmetic Arts polish for that purpose. Another layer of topcoat and my mani was done:

Mm… not bad.

The polishes:

There’s quite a lot going on here, and I considered for a moment if it was too much with glitter on glitter. Then I realized what I was thinking, slapped myself around the back of my head and got back to my senses. There’s never such a thing as too much glitter, not no way, not no how!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Jelly with microglitter
Overall impression: Oh jees, the prettiness just doesn’t stop!

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Neon Ocean Lights

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Neon Ocean Lights
Teal green scattered holo with pink shimmer

Neon Ocean Lights is a store exclusive from Beauty so Fly.

The formula is good and easy to work with. It takes two coats to make any sight of visible nail line to go away. The drying time is really good.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat taken with flash:

The low light picture reveals that this is a really pretty polish. There’s heaps of pink shimmer in the bottle, but it wasn’t really obvious on my nails.

I made pink “flames” on it with another Lilypad: Wink of Pink. And I topped it with Ellagee’s holo topcoat Rainbow Syrup, my to go holo topper. I wanted more holo than Neon Ocean Lights offered, so…

I really like this colour combo!

Here are the three polishes I used. See how much I used of the Rainbow Syrup already!!

Neon Ocean Lights was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Scattered holo with shimmer
Overall impression: I like it, but…

Smitten ~ Pink Elephant & Kiwi-Colada

Smitten ~ Pink Elephant & Kiwi-Colada
Edgy Polish Exclusives

Today I’m going to show you two Edgy Polish Exclusives: Pink Elephant and Kiwi-Colada. They’re both microglitters with added holo microglitter. Yay!

The first one is Pink Elephant. It’s described as pastel neon coral pink nail polish with holographic micro glitter. That sounds about right. The formula is good and easy to work with. The polish covers really well too – it only took two easy coats to make this Elephant opaque. The drying time is really good. It dries up semi matte, so I applied a layer of topcoat before I took my photos.

Here’s two coats and a layer of topcoat in the sun:

I love the way the holo glitter sparkles!

Shiny, shiny, shiny…

Here’s a picture taken in low lights. The polish still sparkles; I’m impressed.

Verdict:
I like Pink Elephant a lot. I’m positively surprised over the coverage and the drying time, and I love the sparkles.

The other Edgy Polish Exclusive is Kiwi-Colada. It’s described as pastel neon green nail polish with holographic micro glitter. That sounds like the polish I’m looking at. So far, so good.

The formula is also good on Kiwi-Colada, but the coverage not as good as the Pink Elephant. I was not satisfied with coverage after two coats so I added a third, and that helped. The drying time is good, but Pink Elephant’s drying time is a fraction better. Kiwi-Colada also dries up semi matte, so I added a layer of topcoat and then I took my photos.

Here’s three coats and a layer of topcoat in the sun:

Kiwi-Colada also knows how to sparkle.

Look at that, isn’t it just pretty?!

And here’s a low light photo.

Verdict:
I thought that Kiwi-Colada was going to be my favourite of the two, but I like Pink Elephant much better. Kiwi-Colada has got a really cool green colour and the sparkles are so pretty. The extra coat pulls down a little bit though, but only a little bit. All in all it’s a great spring colour.

Which one is your favourite of the two?

Number of coats: 2 and 3
Drying time: Good
Finish: Jelly with microglitter
Overall impression: Two great spring polishes!

I bought both Smitten polishes from Edgy Polish

NailNation 3000 ~ Polish me like one of your French girls

NailNation 3000 ~ Polish me like one of your French girls
Magenta linear holo

Today I’m wearing a really pretty polish from NailNation 3000. It’s called Polish me like one of your French girls, and I love that name.

I might as well tell you right away: I only took pictures of my final mani, and not of the polish by itself. It wasn’t on purpose though, I simply just forgot. I think it was because I’ve been cleaning the house all day, and my mind was simply elsewhere when I finally sat down to polish my nails.

But anyway, I can show you the final mani right here:

So, the base colour is Polish me like one of your French girls. Two easy and fast drying coats! Then I made the stripes with another NailNation 3000: See you on the other side, which I originally showed you here. I fucked up the nail art when I posted that, so I thought I’d give it another chance to shine on the blog :) The glitter on the base of my ring finger is “The Sea was Boiling hot” from Polish Revolution.

Here’s the mandatory low light picture. The PMLOOYFG is a little bit dull but still pretty imo! I’m holding See you on the other Side on this picture.

Here are the three polishes I used.

I’m sorry for the lack of pictures of PMLOOYFG on its own, but yeah, shit happens, doesn’t it :)

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Linear holo
Overall impression: Great quality polish, good drying time, pretty rainbows!

Dance Legend Wow Prism ~ #31 Through the Glass

Dance Legend Wow Prism ~ #31 Through the Glass
Blue glass fleck holo

I don’t think I ever get tired of the polishes from Dance Legend’s Wow Prism collection. Everything is just so cool about them: The formula, the finish, the prettiness…

Also in Through the Glass. It’s easy to work with, dries fast and covers in two coats. I don’t know what more to ask for really.

I applied a magenta star shaped nail stud by the base of my middle and my ring finger. I painted to diagonally stripes on the rest of my nails, using P2’s Like a Movie Star. A layer of topcoat completed the mani, and here it is taken with flash:

I love the colour scheme!

Here it is in low lights:

Uh, that blue is just gorgeous!

I like this. I ended up adding another layer of topcoat to be sure that the stars wouldn’t accidentally fall off. It worked.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Glass fleck holo
Overall impression: Prettiness in a bottle!
