Femme Fatale ~ Maddening Whispers

Femme Fatale ~ Maddening Whispers
Purple linear holo with green shine

Here’s is Burning Dusk’s sister. So pretty and yet so hard to describe. I stole the colour description from Norway Nails’ website! :D

Formula: Just great. No problems to report at all. It applies easily, dries fast and covers well. Top notch.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat. The picture is taken with flash. The sun made my camera freak out, haha!

It looks pretty blue here, doesn’t it. It’s a tad more purple in real life, but this is the best I could do!

Here’s a colour realistic low light picture. If you look at the bottle, you can see the green shine. That didn’t show up much on the nails.

This is as much green shine as I could get it to flash!

I stamped on it. I found some stars on Apipila 01 and I stamped with Kiko 616, which is a metallic silver. I sealed it up with a layer of Ellagee’s topcoat “Glass”. Here’s the final result photographed with flash:

And a low light picture.

I like this much more in the sun/with flash than in low light. It’s spectacular in sunshine but quite ordinary in low lights because the green shimmer was so shy. There’s nothing wrong with the quality of the polish though, I just think I’m getting picky now that I’ve got so many polishes, haha! :D

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Holo with (shy) green shine.
Removal: No worries.
Overall impression: I I love the strong holo effect and the colour is nice too. I wish the green shimmer was less shy.

Ooh La Lacquer ~ You’re Mine

Ooh La Lacquer ~ You’re Mine
Pink strong linear holo

This’ll be the shortest post possible, because like an idiot I totally fucked up the nail art - so I’ll only post the pictures of the polish straight, no chaser, OK? :)

Ooh La Lacquer is new to me, but I’m always interested in trying new polishes. The formula is good, and it took two coats to make this opaque. Drying time between the coats is average.

I had a ray of sunlight so let me show you the pretty rainbows.

It’s pretty, don’t you think?

Here’s what it looks like in the lightbox.

One last shot for your viewing pleasure.

Do you like this? Are you familiar with Ooh La Lacquers? If yes, can you recommend any of them?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Strong holo
Overall impression: Lovely holo
Buy again: Yes

This post is dedicated to a holo challenge in a Facebook group I'm in. It's called Freakin' Weekly Challenge, and this week's theme is pink.

Femme Fatale ~ Burning Dusk

Femme Fatale ~ Burning Dusk
A dark plum linear holo with blue shine

I have been looking at Burning Dusk for a very long time. And when I finally got it, it was much more spectacular than I even imagined. Yay!

The formula is really good; this is a quality polish for sure. The coverage is great too – it was almost opaque after the first coat, and the second coat created pure perfection. Drying time between the coats is cool too.

And Burning Dusk is a fantastic polish. Let me show you what the fuss is all about. Sweet ladies, here is two coats and no topcoat, the pic is taken in the sun:

Mmm… plum and blue mixed with some red from the holo flame. I’m in love!

I mean… take a look at them rainbows!!!

The polish is also really pretty in lower lights. Here’s what that looks like:

I grabbed Ozotic 609 and made dots in groups of three on each nail. Ozotic 609 is holographic silver, perhaps the prettiest silver I own. Here’s a sunshine pic for you:

And a low light picture:

There’s nothing I don’t like about this polish, that’s all there is to say.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Holo with blue shine, great mix!
Removal: No worries.
Overall impression: I love everything about this polish. A winner for sure!
Buy again: Yes

Pretty Jelly ~ Elysian pt. 2 - sunshine pictures

Hi girls,

I had no sun available when I reviewed Elysian for Edgy Polish recently, so I had to show off the holo by using my flash. I promised Katarina that I'd swatch it again when the sun decided to show itself. Today is that day.

I am not going to tire you with text about application, drying time and other stuff, because all that is in the original post right here

Here are the promised sunshine pictures. This is two coats:

Rainbows!!!

Stunning is a good word for Elysian!

One last shot:

The verdict is still the same: I love Elysian, it's beautiful!! ♥

This polish was sent to me from Edgy Polish in return an honest review.
Check out the original post about Elysian here.

Darling Diva ~ Cotton Candy Hangover

Darling Diva ~ Cotton Candy Hangover
Purple linear holo with blue to pink shimmer

Earlier today I showed you Violets are Blue, which is a Facebook group custom. I also mentioned that Violets are Blue has got a purple sister, and I’m going to show her now.

The formula is good, and the coverage is okay. I would have been able to get away with two coats, but my camera picks up every single little detail invisible to the human eye, so I applied three coats. The drying time is really good, and then I can live with three coats.

And I have to say it: Cotton Candy Hangover is even prettier than Violets are blue. Take a look, here’s three coats, no topcoat, the pic is taken in the sunshine:

I love, love, love the depth and the colour shift in this.

The holo flame is both blue and red – it’s sooo special!

I decided to paint a stripe and two dots on each nail with a neon green striper. Maybe not the most thought through idea, but never mind. Here it is:

Here’s one last picture, just to show you that it isn’t as horrible as it may sound.

It’s cool to be in the right place in the right time – I’m glad I have got these two special group customs in my collection!

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Linear holo with colour shifting pigment. A great mix of finishes!
Overall impression: Cool colour. And I love the mix of holo and colourshift!

Darling Diva ~ Violets are Blue

Darling Diva ~ Violets are Blue
Magenta linear holo with blue to pink shimmer

Violets are Blue is not part of Darling Diva’s regular polish line. It’s a polish that was available for the members of a Darling Diva fangroup on Facebook. I am so lucky to be a member of that group, yay!

The formula is okay but the polish is a bit on the sheer side. You may be able to get away with two coats, but I wasn’t satisfied until a third coat was on. Drying time is really good though, so I didn’t mind the three coats so much.

And girl! This baby really shines! Take a look at three coats and no topcoat – pic is taken in the sunshine:

Can you see that colour shifting pigment too? I think that is what makes this polish really unique!

Still sunshine, but in different environment. This is where the blue really shines.

I stamped a bit on it just because I can. I used the XL stamping plate K and I stamped with Ellagee’s “Rainbows all over your blues”. I applied a layer of Ellagee’s topcoat “Glass” and then my mani was ready to rock:

Here’s a low light picture so you can see what Violets are Blue looks like out of the sun:

I am glad that I snatched this while I had the chance! It has actually also got a purple sister: “Cotton Candy Hangover”, which I’ll probably show you later today, if the sun in still shining. There are never guarantees for sunshine in my hemisphere, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Linear holo with colour shifting pigment. A great mix of finishes!
Overall impression: Nice, non offensive colour. What does it for me is the mix of holo and colourshift!

Penelope Luz ~ Confetti

Penelope Luz ~ Confetti
Transparent base with micro glitters in matte blue and neon yellow

I started out with a green OPI, Forrest My Case, which is a really lovely green crème. It’s easy to work with, it covers well and it dries relatively fast. It’s a heavy stainer though, and the only reason I’ve still got it is because it’s a Sephora Exclusive, and I have a soft spot for store exclusives.

Let me show you how pretty it is. Here’s two easy coats and no topcoat. The picture is taken in the sun.

Isn’t that just an amazing green? I love it!

Moving right on to the Penelope Cruz. When I first saw it I thought it was green. The mix of blue and yellow glitters gives the impression of green – it’s quite spectacular! But anyway, the formula is good. It’s a bit on the thicker side, but I like that, so I ain’t complaining. I applied one coat and it just glided on like butter.

Here’s the result:

Can you see why I thought it was green?

Last picture for today:

I really, really like this combo of grass green and blue and yellow.

Number of coats: 1, it’s a topper
Drying time: Average
Finish: Micro glitters in a clear base
Overall impression: Really nice addition to a green or blue polish (I don’t wear yellows as a rule!)

Cupcake Polish swatches

Cupcake Polish ~
Los Angeles: Pink linear holo with blue flame
Chicago: Light purple linear holo with blue and orange flame
New York:  Sky blue linear holo

Warning! You might as well go get your retro aviator sunglasses right away. This post is loaded with holo goodness: Cupcake Polish spam! I’ve got three of them, and I’m going to show you all three in this same post. I know! Whoa!!!, right?

The formula is the same in all three polishes: good and easy to apply. It takes two coats to make the polishes opaque, and the drying time is really good. Those observations apply to all three. Nice :)
I didn’t apply any topcoat before taking my pictures.

Let us commence with Los Angeles, a pink linear holo. The holo flame is amazing in this one, and it’s blue. Take a look:

The pictures are taken in the sunshine, yay!

Is this A-mazing, or what?

Here’s what Los Angeles looks like in the shadows. The rainbows just wouldn’t go away! Tough to live with I know *theatrical sigh*, but that’s just the way this polish is :D

I love Los Angeles for sure!

Next one up is Chicago. That’s also a linear holo, but a light purple one. The holo flame is blue and orange and really cool. Again, two coats, quick drying time and no topcoat. Here’s a sunshine picture:

The pics are taken in the sunshine. The holo effect is so strong that it doesn’t let much of the original colour peek through.

It’s amazing in the sun.

When I bought this, I thought it was darker purple than it actually is. Here’s what it looks like in the shadows:

This holo effect is really strong in low lights with Chicago as well, but I must admit that this base colour isn’t my favourite. A very cool polish nonetheless.

Last one up is my real favourite of the bunch: New York. This is a sky blue linear holo. Same good formula, same two coats, same great drying time, same niceness. Sweet as! Here’s the Sunshine picture:

This is just crazy beautiful, right?

Are you wearing your retro Mustang pilot sunglasses yet?

And the mandatory low light picture:

I love New York both in and out of the sunshine, so this is a true winner for me.

Overall verdict:
Really, really cool polishes. The linear holo effect is just crazy, and the pigmentation of these polishes is simply excellent. Rumours have it that they’re stainers, so you might want to consider wearing a good basecoat. I’ve heard they’re great stampers too, but I haven’t tried that myself yet.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Extreme holos
Removal: No worries.
Overall impression: Amazing holos!
Buy again: Yes, positively definitely

Ellagee ~ Purple Haze

Ellagee ~ Purple Haze
smokey purple with scattered and soft linear holographic shimmer

Here’s the last of three polishes I bought in a blogger package at Ellagee’s for a reduced price in return for an honest review.

The formula is a bit on the thick side but it’s still easy to work with. Opacity is really good – it’s practically opaque after the first coat. I applied a second coat anyway, to even out the little squiddlies I made during application. Drying time is really good, no problems to report in that department either.

I love Purple Haze much more than I thought I would. The holo shimmer makes the polish glow from within and it’s gorgeous!

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat:

These pictures are taken with flash to show how special it is! The holo effect seems pink!

If you look at my pinkie and my ring finger on this picture, you can see that the holo effect almost looks linear!

This is my favourite picture. I love the way the holo shows off!

Here is a low light picture. The holo still shows itself a little bit; I like that.

Verdict:
This is another cool Ellagee polish. I really like the mix of holo effects that are going on, and the colour is pretty and non offensive. The formula is great, and I’m definitely going to try and stamp with it. I am pretty sure that it will work, since the polish is so opaque on its own.
So basically: Polished thumbs up from me! <3

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Scattered holo effect mixed with holo shimmer. A great combo!
Overall impression: I have only got positive words for Purple Haze.
Buy again: Yes
