Anchor & Heart: Salt Water Treasure

Anchor & Heart: Salt Water Treasure
A sea foam green crelly with blue/green/purple shifting shimmer, and delicate pink, green, and purple flakies.

The theme for the "For The Love Of Polish"-box for July 2020 was Sea Glass.

The formula of "Salt Water Treasure" is sheer and I needed three coats for full opacity. The drying time is good.

The floral nail decorations I'm wearing are water decals.

Here's the final manicure.

I really like this.

Here's "Salt Water Treasure" on its own; three coats and no topcoat yet.

Here are the two things I used today:

Here are links to the two other polishes in the July 2020 box:

Pahlish “Adrift”: A bright cornflower blue with a mix of green and violet/blue aurora flakes.

Polished For Days "Sea Gems": A pink base with a rainbow of seagrass inspired iridescent shifting flakes and holographic flakes.

This is the polish that looks the best in the bottle of the trio. It felt a little "meh" on my nails though.

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Good
Finish: Crelly with shimmer and flakies
Overall impression: The colour is nice. The effect is a bit meh to me.

The theme for the "For The Love Of Polish"-box for July 2020 was Sea Glass.

The formula is a crelly packed with flakies. Not the easiest to work with, but manageable. You have to be careful with application in order not to get bald patches. I used three coats for my manicure and the drying time was good.

I made red and white stripes on it because I was short of other ideas :D

Here's the final result in daylight.

I must admit that I'm beginning to have enough of flakies for now. I mean: I really like them and I think they are really pretty. But I'm not a huge fan of crelly-polishes because they're usually at least three coaters, and I honestly prefer my polishes to cover in two coats. I do understand that flakies like this need to be crellies in order for the flakies not to drown but it's still not really my thing.

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Good
Finish: Crelly with flakies
Overall impression: Very pretty colour, tricky formula

The formula is quite thin and I used three coats for my nails today. The drying time was really good.

The floral stamp is from the Moyou London's stamping plate "Mother Nature Collection-16". I stamped with a no name dark purple stamping polish from Born Pretty Store.

Here's the final design.

I think this floral stamp is super pretty.

Here's "Sea Gems" alone; three coats and no topcoat. This polish is as close to my skin colour as they get. I couldn't wear this on its own.

"Sea Gems" is pretty but it's not my colour. I like the mix of flakies in it though.

Born Pretty Store: Dream Fairy

Born Pretty Store: Dream Fairy
Purple linear holo

I love doing nail art, and I feel like there's something missing if I'm wearing a polish all on its own. Once in a while I don't feel like doing the nail art part, and today is such a day.

I pulled out a beautiful strong linear holo from Born Pretty Store; a polish that definitely can work on its own. The formula is really good and I used two easy coats for full opacity. The drying time was good.

I took my pictures after having applied a layer of topcoat.

Here is "Dream Fairy" + a layer of topcoat. The photo is taken with flash.

I absolutely love a good, strong linear holographic polish.

Nails Inc. Beaded Polish: Hampstead

Nails Inc. Beaded Polish: Hampstead
Coral toned orange crelly with glitter and hexes

"Hampstead" is a part of Nails Inc.'s "Beaded polish"-collection. It means that it's super textured.

The formula is not that easy to work with. There is so much glitter in the polish that it's quite difficult to apply evenly. It covers well though; I used two coats for full opacity. The drying time was good.

I made yellow dots on half of each nail with El Corazón's stamping polish "Yellow". I topped the whole thing with Out The Door's holo glitter topper "Northern Lights", and sealed it all up with a layer of regular quick dry topcoat.

Here's the end result:

I like the mix of colours here.

This is "Hampstead" on its own, two coats and a layer of topcoat. One layer of topcoat is not enough to smooth out the grittiness.

Here are the three polishes I used today. Note the sticker on "Hampstead" saying "One Bottle, No Mess".

"Hampstead" reminds me a bit of OPI's ugliest polish so far: Pineapples Have Peelings Too" (check it out here: http://rainbowifyme.blogspot.com/2018/05/opi-pineapples-have-peelings-too.html). The glitter is a little bit too much for the base and the textured-ness is really wild. Definitely don't wear nylon stockings when wearing this polish!

Drying time: Good

Finish: Crelly with glitter and hexes

Overall impression: I love glitter but I'm not impressed

Dark Blond: Auqua Marine - revisited

Dark Blond: Auqua Marine - revisited
Mint green crème

I was in the mood to wear mint green. I had a look in the Helmers to find a polish that met that mood. I ended up with "Auqua Marine" from Dark Blonde. It's been over four years since I wore that last. So many polishes, so few fingernails, right?

Anyway, I should have checked out my own blog before I started to apply it because the formula is tricky. It's streaky on the first coat but what's even worse: It's not self-levelling. It covers in two coats, but I tried adding a third coat to see if it helped with the self-levelling, but it didn't. So I'd say that two coats is enough. The drying time is average.

I added a coat of holo glitter topper from Monki called "Silvered".

I really like white on mint green so I added white flower stickers.

Here's the final result, including a layer of topcoat.

Isn't this pretty?

There's no picture  of "Auqua Marine" alone, because that has already been on the blog, here: http://rainbowifyme.blogspot.com/2016/08/dark-blond-auqua-marine.html

Here are the two polishes I used today.

Like I said: I would probably have chosen another polish if I had remembered the tricky formula of "Auqua Marine", because easy formulas are ... yes well... easier to work with :D Having said that: I'm happy I chose to wear this one anyway, because it is really pretty!

Number of coats: 3, but 2 is enough
Drying time: Average
Finish: Crème
Overall impression: Tricky non-self-levelling formula, great colour

Buy again: Hmmm, I'd definitely buy it for the colour! :)

Christmas nails, 25th of December

Today's the last day of my Christmas calendar of manicures. I had originally planned that the calendar should be 24 days long - because the big day here is the 24th of December. I am aware that lots of people celebrate Christmas on the 25th though, and that's why this calendar ended up being 25 days long. So today's manicure will be the last in the row for 2020.

I have been wanting to make a manicure with a long string of fairy lights for a long time. I have seen so many pretty nails with fairy lights and I wanted to see if I could make them just as pretty. I think I succeeded, take a look:

Christmas nails

I used these things:

Silver holo glitter: Color Club "Break It Up"

Stamping plate: Lina "Can't Wait For X-mas! 01"

Stamping polishes for the coloured lights from Colour Alike

Christmas nails

I think this is super cute.

Here are the things I used for my manicure today.

It was great fun to make this Christmas calendar of manicures. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Merry Christmas
