Light green scattered holo

I don’t think the polishes in Dance Legend’s Shining Rainbow collection have names, only numbers. It’s not a secret that I like this collection – both because they are really cool polishes, but also because of the name: Shining Rainbow. How awesome is that!

The formula is really good and the polish glides on easily and effortlessly covering well in two coats. The drying time between the coats is average. I didn’t apply topcoat just yet.

The scattered holo makes a really interesting effect!

I made magenta stripes on it with Catrice’s Pinkrogue from the Arts Collection, which was limited edition and therefore no longer in the shops.

As you can see I also added glitter. It’s a magenta/golden/silvery glittermix from Claire’s called Fabulous. There’s a layer of topcoat on top of it all.

This somewhat reminds me of circus shows with tents and line dancers and pretty glittery costumes. I like it!

Another layering experience

Here are another couple of polishes bought in Hungary – and yes, I did bring home quite a few polishes from that vacation.

Let me start out with Zoya Mason, a lovely redish purple with tiny little flecks. The application is easy, and coverage is good and the drying time is also really good.

Here’s two coats and a layer of topcoat:

The little flecks are really cute.

The reason I applied topcoat was because I had a tape mani in mind, but I changed my mind. I found a great bright yellow glitter from Claire’s instead, called Digi Pop. I just applied one coat over the purple, and here’s that step:

That’s quite nice, I like that. It’s not quite enough though: I holofied it! I applied one coat of Dance Legend’s holo topcoat, and then I was satisfied. The holo topcoat adds a great holo effect but it does also grey the underlaying polish quite a bit. Sometimes I don’t mind that so much, so here’s my final mani:

Some of you know that I like layering once in a while. I don’t know how many of you would actually pair reddish purple and bright yellow, but I know I like it! :D

Pink/silver glitter texture and Light blue/silver glitter texture

I return to Gabriella Salvete, which is an Italian brand I bought when I was on a short trip to Slovakia.

Today I was in the mood for a gradient, because I just got OPI’s Glitter Off topcoat, and I wanted to see if that works for masking my cuticles, hoping that the clean up gets easier.

I painted a thin layer of the Glitter Off basecoat around my nails and on my cuticles – I let it dry, and then I painted on a layer of the pink polish to give it a base colour, and then I made the gradient. It went really went, I think :)

Here’s what my vertical textured and very glittery gradient looks like:

I reversed the colours on every other nail because I think it looks cool.

I made two dots on each nail with each colour – on the opposite side of the colours. It’s kind of hard to explain, so check it out:

I added topcoat to these last two pictures.

These are probably the first textures which I prefer without a topcoat. They’re so glittery that both shiny *and* glittery gets too much, if you know what I mean. I didn’t think I should ever hear myself saying that! :D

Overall impression: I really like textures and I love them if they’re glittery as well! So yes, I love both of these.

Purple scattered holographic

I really like the El Corazon I wore the day before yesterday, so I decided to wear one of its sisters: #28 which is a lovely purple scattered holo.

The formula is really good, and it would possibly have been opaque after the first coat if I had been more careful with application. I applied two easy coats though and the drying time between the coats was fast.

I had sunshine available so here’s a picture of two coats taken in the sun:

The sun made the colour a bit off so here’s a picture taken with flash – this is the true colour of the polish:

And here’s a picture taken in the lightbox without flash. Isn’t that just a lovely purple?!

I grabbed a Nabi Hologram called Ocean Blue and that’s exactly what it is. I used a striper brush to make thin stripes about halfway up the nail, creating something that almost looks like a gradient. And girls! I dig this! Take a look:

I have got four El Corazon Prismas, and I’m definitely going to check out if I need more. The quality is amazing and the colours and effects are really cool.

Magenta glass fleck holo

Today I’m going to show you something awesome, namely one of the really cool Wow Prisms from Dance Legend. She’s magenta, she’s holo and she’s totally awesome, just you wait and see!

The formula is great and easy to apply. I was satisfied after two coats, although I’ve heard that it’s better with three. I didn’t apply a third because I didn’t think it made sense when I was actually pleased with what I saw. The drying time between the coats is good and the polish dries completely flat to the nails.

This baby can really shine! Look how pretty two coats and no topcoat is in the sunshine:

The holo flecks makes it look as if it glows from within, I love that effect!

Here’s a picture taken in my lightbox. That colour is so fine, I love it!

I stamped on it. I used a round motif from an old unnamed Essence-plate and I stamped with a black no name stamping polish. I stamped the design twice on each nail, and I topped it all with a layer of Poshé topcoat.

- featuring Manhattan, Zoya and Moyou London

I was in a mermaid-y mood, isn’t that just strange.

I think it was because I saw Manhattan’s Emerald Green in my box of untried. It’s a lovely green shimmer – it almost contains so much shimmer that it looks like a foil! I bought it in Hungary – it was on special, Yay!

Anyway, two easy and fast drying coats of that to begin with.

I’d say we’re on a good way to mermaid already, don’t you think?

Anyway – let me add some bubbles! I applied a layer of Zoya’s Monet, which is iridescent glitter in a thick clear base. I have read that many bloggers think it’s too thick a base. And yes, it’s definitely thick to keep the glitters suspended. And I would also have applied a levelling out layer of topcoat if this was my final step but it wasn’t. I needed to dap the glitters in place – but seriously: This is such a great glitter that it’s worth all the hassle. Take a look:

Then I stamped on it. I found my motifs on Moyou London’s stamping plates Sailor Collection-01 and -07 and I just used a black no name stamping polish to stamp with.

Here is my final and mermaid-y mani:

I love these designs and I really like the background I chose for them.

There you have it: my mermaid of the day. I really like the green Manhattan-polish, and the Zoya glitter is just genious. I am looking forward to playing more with it, and I have already got ideas of what to use it for!

Purple shimmer

It was Maria who sent me Etoile Violet as a random act of kindness. Why on earth she decided to part with such a pretty purple is beyond me, but I am very grateful for it! :)

This is my first (and only) Priti NYC, so I didn’t know what to expect quality-wise. I was pleasantly surprised: the formula is good and the polish covers in two easy coats. The drying time between the coats is good too.

Here’s what the polish looks like – 2 coats, no topcoat:

That’s a pretty purple if there ever was one!

I decided to add a bit of bling! I applied a layer of H&M’s Confetti Kisses, which is a multisized silver glitter in a clear base. I love the bottle! Here’s my mani:

Here’s a link to Maria’s swatch of Etoile Violet. She has been able to catch some shimmer on cam that I couldn’t see in real life. Impressive! :)

Indigo scattered holographic

El Corazon is a Russian brand and this polish is from their Prisma collection which basically means it’s a scattered holo. When I saw the polish first I loved it and at the same time I knew it would be horrible to photograph. It’s one of them colours that just never seem to show up right on pictures. But never mind – I’ve done my best.

The formula is a dream! The polish glides on easily and effortlessly in one easy coat. Yes, you read it correctly: ONE coat, sweet ladies. The drying time is good too – I have nothing bad to report about this polish!

Let me try and show you what it looks like. Here’s one coat, no topcoat, picture taken with flash:

And another one that shows off some of the holo goodness.

Here’s a low light picture. This is as colour correct as it comes.

I stamped a swirly design on it from Bundlemonster plate BM-314 and I stamped with a no name (copy) polish called Suzy skis in the Pyrenees. I stopped it with topcoat and here’s my final mani:

Blurple base with various colours of microflakies and microglitter

I’ve been RAOK’d!! RAOK mean Random Act Of Kindness and it means that somebody does something for you for no other reason than because they want to! Sounds pretty cool, no?

So Maria sent me four polishes because she knew I’d enjoy them. And she’s absolutely right, I will!

Today I’ll show you Electric Soul from Pipe Dream Polish. Application was super easy and the coverage was good. I used two relatively fast drying coats for this mani, and I finished with a layer of topcoat. Here’s what Electric Soul looks like:

I love the little flecks, they look fantastic!

The fact that the flecks and the shimmer has a different colour than the base colour makes this really cool.

I made a diagonal line of dots on each nail using Sephora’s Formula X: “Freaky like Freud”.

Duochromatic, holographic glittery colourshifting polish

I simply don’t know how to describe this polish colour wise. Carrie herself describes it like this:

This is that awesomey beetle wing like polish that I worked with to turn into a fantastic linear holo!

I have often seen girls debate which colour this should be layered over. I didn’t have that problem, it was obvious to me that it needed to be layered over Isadora’s dark green shimmer “Beetle Green”. I’ll show you what that looks like at the end of the post.

Anyway, I applied two layers of Space Beetle over the dark green. Application was easy and drying time was good. And I had sunshine!

Here’s a lightbox pic. This shows a lot of colours, also the pink this polish contains.

What did I do with it? I figured that a polish called Space Beetle needed a bit of space to actually work. I wanted to make a night sky! I applied a layer of Alix Avien #110, which is a silver/holo glitter in various sizes. It’s perfect for a mani like this. Take a look for yourself if you don’t believe me.
