Lilac scattered holographic

Here’s another one of the El Corazon polishes that I was so lucky to get my grubby little hands on – a lovely lilac scattered holo.

Application was easy because the formula is really good. It covers well in two coats and dries fast between the coats. No complaints from me at all! And it was my lucky day too: I had sunshine available!! Woo, as they say, Hoo!

Here’s two coats, no topcoat, picture taken in the sun:

I double stamped on it. First I stamped an all nail design from stamping plate BM-315 from MondleBunster. I used Colors by Llarowe’s “Woman from Tokyo” as my stamping polish. Here’s that step:

I actually expected the stamp to be more prominent, but I like the subtleness of this nonetheless.

Then I stamped again, a purple kiss this time. I found the kiss on Cheeky’s plate CH29 and I stamped with my ole faithful no name polish called Suzy skis in the Pyrenees. I made sure that the kiss wasn’t placed on the same spot on each nail.

Here’s that step:

The dark purple kiss dried up matte, so I glossed it all up with a layer of topcoat:

El Corazon’s polishes are very good and very pretty, so you really should try them out if you ever come across them. I love this Prisma collection so much!

Overall impression: Great quality polish, the colour is a great base for many types of nail art. I’ll definitely come back to this one!

Magenta jelly with pink, purple and silver holo glitter

Here’s another pretty polish from Pipe Dream Polish.

The formula is good and really easy to work with. The glitters spread out naturally without any hassle at all, and the coverage is good. I used two coats for my swatches and the drying time is pretty good. All the right boxes ticked so far.

And girl, this is really pretty. Take a look at two coats and a layer of topcoat:

I love this shade of pink, and the glitters make it a wear on its own polish for me.

Holo glitter goodness!

I seriously took way too many pictures of this – I love the sparkles and glitters!

Verdict:

Oh yes, this polish is so me. There’s absolutely nothing I don’t like about it. I even wore this when I put my latest Helmer together, and yes, I do use my nails as tools – and the polish just stayed right there on the nails – no tipwear or anything! Frankly ladies - I’m impressed!

Sky blue linear holo

It’s time for a blue polish. So : I picked Swerve from Liquid Sky because I’ve seen some wild pics of it on various nail blogs and also because Liquid Sky makes some pretty crazy holos!

Application was easy and it took two coats to make it opaque and the drying time is good. No problemo there, then.

Here’s what two coats without a topcoat looks like – the pic is taken with flash:

It’s pretty, yes? But honestly, the holo isn’t as crazy as I expected. I don’t know if I didn’t shake the bottle well enough, so keeping all the holo goodness in the bottom of the bottle or what, but I’m not breath taken by this in any way.

I made “bubbles” on it. I make random dark blue dots with a dark blue shimmer from Miss Sporty with the number 510, and then I dotted Swerve on top of the bigger dots.

And then the sun showed its pretty face, yay!

Here’s my final mani (minus topcoat) – the picture is taken in the sun.

Those of you who know Liquid Sky’s holos know that this is an almost non existent holo effect!

I don’t quite know what to do with this polish. I mean, it’s still holo and it’s pretty and all, but it was not what I expected at all! What would you do if it was you?

Overall impression: Calm colour, nice rainbows, but there’s nothing crazy over it.

Green crème with purple and burgundy glitters

Retrovertigo is Dulcet’s sister and she demanded to be put on asap!

The formula is great, even better than the formula of Dulcet. The polish spreads out effortlessly and is surprisingly opaque – it was practically a one coater! I was amazed! Drying time is average, but as I’ve said elsewhere it’s very humid here so it might be faster when the air isn’t carrying such a load of moisture.

Take a look at how pretty Retrovertigo is – here’s two coats and a layer of topcoat:

I must admit that this is a really unusual colour combination even for me, but I love it!

I haven’t dabbed the glitters around or made any extra effort btw, this is the way they ended naturally.

One last shot because Retrovertigo deserves it!

Verdict:

This polish really impressed me quality-wise. I know Gloss ‘N Sparkle make good polishes, but I think this one has the best formula I’ve tried from them so far. Thumbs firmly up from me.

Pink crème with fuchsia, pastel pink and blue glitters

The formula is good and the glitter is easy to work with. I didn’t dab the glitter around, it just placed itself as I applied the polish. Coverage is good for an almost pastel, two coats is what I used for my swatches. The polish doesn’t dry up completely flat because of the glitters, so use a good topcoat to even everything out. Drying time between the coats was average, but bear in mind that it’s pretty humid here at the moment, so I expect it to dry a bit faster when the air gets a little less moist

Anyway, let’s look at the pretty one!

I like the way the glitters compliment the base colour, it works for me.

I won’t lie to you: I like the way this looks!

Verdict:

The quality of the polish is really good and the glitter is gratifyingly easy to work with. It can sometimes be a bit of a hassle to get the glitters placed nicely on the nails, as you know - but not with this one. I also like the way the glitters compliment the base colour.

Raspberry pink holo with blue shimmer

Bad Bad Lulu Pink is another polish from the I Hate Pink-collection from Summer 2014. I almost didn’t buy it because I thought it was ‘just another pink’. I ended up being really glad I bought it, because the formula is really good and so is the coverage. It covers easily in two coats and the drying time is good.

Isn’t that just a gorgeous pink? I love it!

Here’s a low light pic to show off the blue shimmer in it:

I stamped on it. I found a motif on Bundlemonster’s plate BM-416 and I stamped with Coolcos #80, a lovely deep berry coloured crème. It stamps really well, and it stains my stamper like crazy, haha!!

I like it, that’s all there is to say.

Too Fancy Lacquer ~ Orchid of 2014 & Keep Calm and Be Fancy

Today I’ve got two Too Fancy Lacquers to show you.

First one up is Orchid of 2014 – and orchid coloured linear holo which was made in honour of the Pantone colour of the year which is: Orchid!

Application was easy, the formula is really good and the polish covers in two easy coats. Drying time between the coats was good.

Here’s two coats, no topcoat:

It’s so nice to have sunshine available when I slap on a holo.

The holo is not “in yer face” but it’s definitely there.

I like this polish, but I honestly wasn’t in the mood to actually wear it, so I removed it again and moved right on to:

Keep Calm and Be Fancy. It’s a blue teal linear holo and it’s my colour if there ever was such a thing!

Formula is perfect and if you’re careful with application it covers in one single coat. Yes, one! I wasn’t careful though so I added a second coat to even out my irregularities. Drying time is good, no worries there.

I feel like swooning over this!

I striped it! I made three diagonal stripes on each nail, black and pink. And girls, I dig this!!

Finish: Linear holos, the Keep Calm way stronger than the Orchid

Overall impression: I’m especially impressed by Keep Calm and Be Fancy. It’s my colour and the holo effect is just as powerful as I love it. Orchid is nice too, but a more discrete polish.

Golden Rose, Gabriella Salvete, Smitten & Claire’s

Another mani I didn’t know where went :D

I started out with a Golden Rose Matte Velvet #114 which I bought in Hungary. I have a bunch of Matte Velvets, and this is the first one I was disappointed in. “Why”, you might ask yourself. Well - it’s easy to answer. The other Matte Velvets I’ve got are all one coaters, but this one is more sheer and requires two coats. Also it has a golden shimmer to it that makes the red appear salmon; a colour that doesn’t go really well with my skintone.

But anyway, here’s what two coats look like:

I topped it with a Gabriella Salvete I bought in Slovakia. It’s a lovely red/pink-y shimmer – and it’s a topper. It makes the mani bolder and brighter, I like that! Here’s that step:

Then it all went out of control :D
I dapped a diagonal stripe across each nail with a burgundy holographic Smitten called “I never Drink… Wine”. I forgot to take a picture of that step – perhaps because it wasn’t as pretty as I expected it to be.

So I covered it with glitter! If everything else fails: Use glitter. I used Claire’s “Fabulous”, which is a clear base with magenta, gold and silver glitter. It’s lovely!

I added a layer of topcoat, and here, sweet ladies, is my final mani:

This ended up pretty nice, I think.

These two polishes are both bought in Slovakia on my latest holiday and it was my boyfriend who picked them for me. I knew that they’d go perfectly together, so here’s what I came up with for them!

Application was easy for both polishes and they both took two coats to achieve full opacity. Drying time was pretty fast between the coats. I painted pinkie, index and thumb with the Miss Sporty and the ring and the middle finger with the Rimmel. I didn’t apply a topcoat just yet.

Here’s what that step looked like:

I love the shimmers in both polishes!

I mean, doesn’t this look great?

I stamped on it. I found my motifs on Moyou London stamping plates Pro Collection XL-01 and Pro Collection XL-09, and I stamped with a denim look polish from Claire’s called Blue. (What an original name, hahaha!!) I applied a layer of topcoat – also on the texture and here’s my final mani:

The star came out of an all nail design, I just used one star from it.

There’s no need for modesty here: I just love it!

Overall impression: Both are great polishes, good value for money, beautiful colour!

Teal with green flecks and iridescent glitters

The formula of Let me Fly is on the thick side, but it’s really easy to work with anyway. It spreads out easily and it dries fast, and it also covers in only two coats. It’s a gorgeous colour and I really like the glitters and flecks!

Take a look at two coats plus a layer of Poshé topcoat:

Am I the only one who think “peacock” when I see this polish?

I don’t think there’s anything I don’t like about Let me Fly!

I made some random dots by the base of the nails. I used a green from Kiko’s Denim collection, namely #463 Evasion Lawn Green, and a silver holo from Urban Outfitters called Silver Holo. Brilliantly thought up name, don’t you think? ;)

I applied another layer of Poshé topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I like that the green dots are subtle and that the silver dots are contrast-y.

Verdict:

Let me Fly is a great polish. The colour is cool and the mix of flecks and glitters is perfect!

Overall impression: I’ve only got good things to say about this polish. I’m glad I bought it!
