Here’s another Dazzled exclusive I bought while it was still available. Edwardo the Barber is based on the movie Edward Scissorhands and I almost didn’t buy it because of that – Edward Scissorhands just doesn’t do it for me, I’m sorry. Plus my boyfriend actually knew someone called Edwardo, who was known as Edweirdo. Dunno why I still laugh at that.

Anyway, back to the polish. Formula is good, just like I’ve come to expect from my Lilypads, and it took two coats to achieve full opacity. Drying time is good.

I like the way Edwardo the Barber looks, but I have the same problem that I had with “The Wedding” which I showed you yesterday: I can’t seem to get the same colour out of my bottle as the pictures on the website suggest. Clickhere to see what Edweird…I mean Edwardo looks like on Dazzled’s site.

I like the blue shimmer a lot.

I decided to match it with two other polishes. First I used a striper brush to paint H&M’s white shimmery polish “Snow White” on two thirds of the nails. After that I used Zoya’s green shimmer “Giovanna” on the lower one third of the nails. I topcoated the whole thing, and this is what my final mani ended up looking like:

I love these three polishes together!

The nail of my index finger broke, but I’m not the kind of girl who cries over broken nails unless it actually hurts physically. But I did file down the rest of my nails to match the really short one. Fortunately I like my nails short, so it’s no big deal for me, I just thought I’d mention it – it is a blog after all.  ;)

Overall impression: Yes, It’s an okay polish. I just wish that I didn’t feel disappointed over the colour

Here’s a prototype I bought when Laura from Ellagee offered unreleased prototypes. It hasn’t got a name, so I just call it Cornflower Blue because that’s exactly what it is. I can’t come up with silly names like OPI can, haha!

Wait….how about ‘The runaway train came down the track and she blue’. OPI can have that one for free.

Anyway, Cornflower Blue is a crelly and a bit on the sheer side. I used three coats before I was satisfied. The drying time between the coats was good, no worries there. I didn’t have a hassle with the glitters, and I haven’t done anything to actually place the glitters – they are where the fickle brush of fate decided that they should be.

Here’s what three coats and no topcoat look like:

I like the way the glitters swim in the polish. My silly boyfriend thinks this looks like linoleum, hahaha!

I dapped a bit more glitter on it, just a little bit with a sponge. I used OPI’s In True Stefani Fashion for that. Afterward I used a toothpick and made a random swirl of dots on each nail. I used another Ellagee for that purpose: Chase the Clouds Away. A layer of topcoat finished my mani:

Perhaps I should have left either the dots or the glitter out, but... yeah well.

Described as burgundy red holo with soft golden shimmer

I usually love my Lilypads so I was very excited to see this polish, which is a shop exclusive for Dazzled. I was excited because The Wedding is inspired by the movie Beetlejuice, which is a move I really love. The pictures shows an amazing red – and I’m sorry y’all, but my bottle is not that shade of red at all, for sure.

And another shot. It’s not because I don’t like it as such – it’s just not at all what I expected.

I decorated it with stamps and glitter. I chose some heart designs from BonsterMundle’s plate BM-411 and I stamped with my faithful Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Whirlwind White”. I sponged glitter on my index and my pinkie, and I used OPI’s In True Stefani Fashion for that. I sealed it up with topcoat and here’s my final mani:

However much I like this, I’m still hugely disappointed with the colour – this is so not what I was lead to believe I was going to get, looking at the original pictures.

Teal to blue and purple multichrome - shimmery

It went well with the flakies over a duochromatic polish, so I’m going to try that again today.

I started out with Epoch from Cirque. It’s been sitting in the box for a while, so today it’ll shine. It had separated quite a lot but it was easy to shake it all up and mix it together again. It took two easy coats to make this opaque and the drying time between the layers is pretty good. The colour shift isn’t the strongest on the scene, but yeah -  it’s there.

This picture shows exactly what I’m looking at in real life too.

I really like the teal in this polish.

I paired it up with a flakie from Maybelline’s Colorama collection called Ruby Rays. It’s an orange to green flakie in a orange tinted base. I painted a line of random white dots on my nails – also to show that the base of Ruby Ray actually colours a little bit.

So here is one coat of Ruby Ray over Epoch.

The tinted base changes the colour shift a bit and also mutes it a little. But honestly: I like this anyway.

Dark blurple/pink/orange/gold multichrome

Celia is from the Chameleon collection. There are six polishes in that collection and Celia is the only one I’ve bought – at least for now.

All six polishes are named after characters in the Monsters Inc. movie.

Celia is Mike Wazowski’s girlfriend and she looks like this:

Anyway – I finally decided to give in and buy this one polish. The formula is good and so is the coverage. I didn’t layer it over anything but my regular basecoat and application was so easy. It was opaque after two coats, but I applied a third coat to make sure that my camera wouldn’t pick up anything unseen to the human eye. For non-blogging purposes I would definitely not apply more than two coats. The drying time is good.

The colour shift is amazing, both on pictures and in real life.

I like this picture, it’s almost dreamy :)

Oh yes! She’s a chameleon for sure!

I decided to try something with flakies. Flakies have become highly popular again recently and I definitely understand why. I haven’t bought any of the new ones just yet though, since I still have the bottles from last time they were around. For this mani I used an old Essence called “Waking up in Vegas” with a green to orange colour shift.

I bought some cheap tip guides off evilBay. These ones are shaped like a lightning bolt. The shape is most visible on the first picture.

I love the double colour shift, this was exactly what I was after!

I love polishes that can actually do something, so this one is a hit for me. And I think it was a great idea to pair the Chameleon up with another colour shifter! What say you, dear friends?

Overall impression: I am really impressed with the colourshift and that the polish works withouth underwear!

Metallic blue scatter chrome holo

It’s time for a Picture Polish! I picture Eyre this time, even though it’s not the polish that has been sitting in the box the longest. But it shouted up to me, so I picked it.

The formula is great and two easy coats is what it took. Drying time is good, no bad things to report.

The holo effect is quite special in this polish. It’s as if it’s a “layer” on top of the polish, more than it’s deep, if you know what I mean. If you don’t know, then take a look at this low light picture:

Here’s a picture taken in high lights but with flash:

And here’s a clean flash picture in ordinary lights. It changes the colour dramatically, but it’s not this side I saw the most when I wore Eyre.

I made some random stripes on it, first with El Corazón #144 neon from the Matte Effect collection. It’s shocking pink and it’s gorgeous. Then I made some other random stripes with Dance Lengend’s #848 Bianco, which is a silver linear holo. I topped the whole thing with topcoat and here’s my final mani with flash:

I like the randomness of the stripes and I’m glad I didn’t make more of them.

Purple and glittah!

I was in the mood for purple and glitter! So I started out with #649 from Dance Legend’s matte collection, which is a red toned purple. It covers in two easy coats and the drying time between the coats is good. And yes, it obviously dries up matte :D

Here’s two coats and no topcoat:

I love this shade of purple!

I’m not a great lover of matte manis though, I think they look fantastic for a short while and after that they just look dirty on me. I don’t know why they keep looking good on others, perhaps I’m just too much of a lover of shiny things, haha!!

So anyway, I applied a layer of Dance Legend’s #02 from the Glory Star collection. It’s a clear base with white and silver glitter and hexes and there’s also holo glitter spread throughout the polish. It’s a lovely topper!

I applied one coat over the purple. It is easy to work with and the glitter spreads out easily and evenly. The only downside is the drying time: This glitter isn’t drying fast! I had to let my fast drying topcoat do the magic today. Anyway, here’s my final mani:

I can feel that I’m going to return to this glitter, I think it’s fabulous!

I’m very fond of Dance Legend’s polishes as a rule and these two are no exception!

A2Z Challenge: O is for Old

Last week it was new and this week it’s old. These challenges are really challenging – I spend quite a lot of thinking about what to do for each of them. I had quite a number of ideas for “old”, but they all included golden and/or rusty colours, and that entire colour scheme is just not mine.

So I thought: What is really old? I mean, really really old!

The oldest thing I could think of was the universe. It’s 13.798±0.037 billion years ((13.798±0.037)×10⁹ years) – that’s getting on up there. I don’t think anything beats that.

Here’s part of the universe, right here on my fingernails:

OPI: Comet in the Sky

I obviously started with black and then I just started dapping the other colours on. I finished with a layer of OPI’s Comet in the Sky, which is a clear base with black and iridescent glitter. It’s a perfect glitter for galaxy nails!

It almost ended up looking as if I used foil, but I didn’t. It’s all just ordinary nail polish :)

I dig this a lot, even with the black base!

Barry M ~ Pacific and Mediterranean

From the Aquarium collecion

Today I’m going to show you the two polishes I picked from Barry M’s Aquarium collection. There are actually six polishes in the collection but only these two spoke to me, I’ll get back to that later in the post.

Let me show you Pacific first. It’s a lovely duochromatic shimmer that shifts between teal and blue. It hasn’t got the strongest colourshift in the world, but it’s there. The polish is easy to work with and covers well in two coats. The drying time is pretty good too.

Here’s what it looks like, two coats and no topcoat:

I love that this isn’t prone to brush strokes!

Mediterranean is up next. It’s a pink to orange-y duochromatic shimmer and the colourshift in this one isn’t shy at all. Two coats, no problem with the formula, and this is just prettiness in a bottle.

I love it when duochromes aren’t shy!

Bonus picture, just for fun: I dapped a couple of drops of Pacific and another couple of drops on Mediterranean on the nails and swirled it around with a dotting tool. I topped it off with topcoat, and here’s the final mani:

That didn’t at all turn out the way I wanted it to, so here is a picture of the polishes:

Like I mentioned there are four more polishes in this collection. There’s Mermaid, which is golden khaki to green duochrome, but that’s too golden for me. There’s also Arabian, which is green, blue and gold shredded glitter, which I’m just not a fan of, sorry. Caspian was another polish I didn’t get, mostly because it’s a pink to gold duochrome. The last one I didn’t buy is Treasure Chest, which is a mix of gold, rose and iridescent shredded glitter. Shredded glitter often sticks up and you all know I’m a picker so that doesn’t work for me. Never mind.
