Color Club ~ Pure Energy

Color Club ~ Pure Energy
Neon blue with green shimmer

I’m on a Color Club roll at the moment! Color Club was one of the first brands that kicked off this entire tour down Polish Lane, and it will always have a special place in my shimmery heart. I’ve still got a few untried Color Clubs I bought recently, and I might wear another one tomorrow, who knows.

Pure Energy is from the Electro Candy collection from summer 2009.

The formula seem a bit sheer, which is a bit unusual for a neon. It’s easy to work with though and it builds up fast. I used two coats for my mani. Girls with longer and/or bigger nails than mine might want to add a third coat for full opacity. The drying time is good, I had no issues with that either.

This is my final mani:

The stamp is from a Fauxnad plate called QA24 and I stamped with my faithful purple fake OPI “Suzy skis in the Pyrenees”. When that was dry I applied a layer of topcoat. I’m holding the fake OPI in my hand here – it’s so fake they even put it in a NOPI shaped bottle, haha!

This is two coats of Pure Energy on its own. It’s a really nice blue.

Oh yes, I still love Color Club.
Which brand started it all for you? :)

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Nice colour, good polish, although a bit on the sheer side
Buy again: I think I would, yes

Color Club ~ Hey Gorgeous

Color Club ~ Hey Gorgeous
Deep red, vampy shimmer

Yesterday I showed you an old Color Club, Ultra Violet, which came out in 2009. I know that Hey Gorgeous is an oldie too, but I am not quite sure how old it is. I bought my bottle recently though, so it’s still available.

And I must admit that “Hey Gorgeous” is a great name for it! The polish is super gorgeous. The formula is good too, and I could easily have got away with one coat. I applied two and it did make a tiny bit of difference in depth.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat:

Hey Gorgeous! :D

I made some stripes with another Color Club: Lion’s Den. It’s from the Safari Garden collection from spring 2014. It’s a a golden base with bright copper and gold sparkle. There’s also a slight duochrome color shift between golden yellow and coppery pink. I think it’s beautiful, even though gold isn’t my favourite colour :)

I painted stripes on my nails with Lion’s Den. Here’s my final mani, including a layer of topcoat to seal it all up.

I think the vampy red goes really well with the golden/copper.

Both these Color Clubs are keepers in my opinion.

Number of coats: 2 (but 1 would have been enough)
Drying time: Good
Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Great polish, amazing colour
Buy again: Yes

Color Club ~ Ultra Violet

Color Club ~ Ultra Violet
Magenta with blue/green shimmer

Today’s polish is an oldie but goodie: it’s from the Electro Candy Collection from summer 2009! I only bought it recently though.

The formula is easy to work with and it takes two coats to achieve full opacity. Drying time is good.

The shimmer in this polish is quite prominent, but I wasn’t very good at catching it on camera.

This is my best shot, two coats and no topcoat:

I added glitter, because glitter makes everything better. I used another Color Club for the purpose: British Invasion. It’s from the Poptastic Remix collection from summer 2014 and is hot pink, blue and white glitters in a clear base.

Easy to work with, no fishing required. This is one coat over Ultra Violet plus a layer of topcoat to finish the mani off.

I was in a hurry so I needed something easy but cheerful. I love glitter, so this is a total winner for me.
