Morgan Taylor ~ All Dolled Up

Morgan Taylor ~ All Dolled Up
Hot pink with shimmer

Today I’m going to show you a really hot hot pink polish: Morgan Taylor’s All Dolled Up.

The formula is great and the polish almost applies itself. It covers well and I used two coats for this mani. Drying time is really good too.

I had no sun (damnit!) so here’s a picture taken with flash. It’s two coats and a layer of topcoat:

This is a lightbox picture. I love this colour!

I made white and blue dots on it. I used BB Couture’s Anger and Savina’s Fantasy Files. When it was dry I applied another layer of topcoat.

The colours reminded me of a sweater of mine that I really love. I call it my cookie monster sweater :D
Here’s my final mani and the sleeve of my sweater (taken with flash):

The mandatory low light picture:

The pretties:

I love this, no less.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast

B Squared Lacquer ~ Let’s Celebrate

B Squared Lacquer ~ Let’s Celebrate
Purple linear holo

Here’s the other B Squared Lacquer I bought: Let’s Celebrate. I showed you my first one, True Love, yesterday – and you can check out the post by clicking here if you missed it.

Anyway – the formula was good and the polish covered well in two coats. The drying time is really good.

I decorated a couple of nails with stripers: A silver from Claire’s and a pink glitter from Moyra.

Here’s my final mani in ordinary daylight:

Wow, I really like that B Squared Lacquer.

I had no sun available, so here’s a flash picture to show how serious the rainbows can get.

Here are the polishes I used. The Moyra is over halfway used up by now!

I am impressed with the two B Squared Lacquers I have got, and I’ll definitely check out more of their pretties.

Let’s Celebrate was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Linear holo
Overall impression: Wow, this is such a fantastic purple holo!
Buy again: Yes I would!

Darling Diva “Sassy Ass Mouth” Vs. NailNation 3000 “Matters of the Heart”

Darling Diva “Sassy Ass Mouth” Vs. NailNation 3000 “Matters of the Heart”
Comparison – dupe or not dupe?

I got a request in an email yesterday from Candy. She wants to see how close Darling Diva's Sassy Ass Mouth (SAM) is to NailNation 3000's Matters of the Heart (MOTH). Are they dupes or not? Read on and find out.

Here are the two beautiful polishes lined up side by side.
The colour looks quite similar at the first glance.

I caught way more holo flame in MOTH than in SAM.

I applied two coats of each on a swatch stick.

Here they are, photographed with flash.

Darling Diva: Sassy Ass Mouth Vs. NailNation 3000: Matters of the Heart

I don’t know if you can see it on the picture, but SAM is a wee bit richer than MOTH. The holo flame in SAM is coarser than MOTH’s flame is – the “grains” aren’t as fine.

Darling Diva: Sassy Ass Mouth Vs. NailNation 3000: Matters of the Heart

It’s in lower lights you can tell them apart. Left is SAM, a bit richer than MOTH. MOTH is more willing to show a rainbow in lower lights than SAM.

Darling Diva: Sassy Ass Mouth Vs. NailNation 3000: Matters of the Heart

Here’s an intentional blurry picture that reveals that these two beauties aren’t dupes.

Thanks to Candy for making me do this, it was really cool! ♥

LynBDesigns ~ England would fall

LynBDesigns ~ England would fall
Pink metallic linear holo

England would fall is from the Baker Street collection.

The formula is good and so is the coverage. I was satisfied after two coats and the drying time was good.

This is a really special polish. The mix of metallic and holo is pretty unique!

Take a look at two coats taken with flash:

And here’s what it looks like in my lightbox.

I was in the mood for some dry brush technique! I found a couple of other LynBDesigns polishes and used the dry brush technique to achieve a funky design. I used a red: It’s Not Against the Law to Hope, and a blue: So Changeable. When that was dry I went over it with a fourth LynBDesigns polish, namely Galactic Central Point. That’s a holo flakie topper and it’s gorgeous!

Here’s my mani taken with flash:

And here’s what it looks like in my lightbox.

The polishes:

The holo flakie topper greyed the whole thing a bit, but I like the final result anyway. How about you, do you like it?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Metallic linear holo
Overall impression: The impressive thing about this polish is the finish. I wish this would come in more clear and bold colours!

El Corazón ~ #423/502 L. H. Ocean

El Corazón ~ #423/502 L. H. Ocean
Cobalt blue jelly with holo flakes

The polish that I’m going to show you today is another polish from El Corazón; a beautiful blue holo flakie polish.

The formula is good and easy to work with, no surprises there. The polish covers in two easy coats and the drying time is good.

The sun was playing hide and seek, so here’s a picture taken with flash. Two coats and no topcoat:

Here’s a low light picture. The special thing about this collection of El Corazón polishes is that the flakes are sparkling in all sorts of lights.

I stamped on it. I found a motif on BP-L018 and I stamped with Kiko’s #616 from the Mirror collection. It’s a metallic silver that’s just perfect for stamping.
Here’s my final mani in the sun (yes, there it was, yay!)

And here’s a low light picture of the whole thing.

I really love this collection of polishes and will check out if there are some that I actually miss in my stash.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Durability: Good
Finish: Jelly with holo flakes
Overall impression: Great quality and colour and I love the flakies!

Girly Bits ~ Too hot for Pants

Girly Bits ~ Too hot for Pants
fuchsia with red and fuchsia shimmer and holo micro glitter

Too hot for Pants was inspired by the trip to Las Vegas for CosmoProf and is part of the What Really Happened In Vegas Collection.

The formula is really good, but I must admit that I expect that from my Girly Bits by now. The coverage is great too – I used two coats for this mani. Drying time is also good, no worries in any of the possible worry departments whatsoever.

And it’s gorgeous!

Take a look at two coats and a layer of topcoat. This is taken with flash because the sun was hiding.

This is also a flash picture. I love the way this polish glows from within.

Last flash picture for now.

This picture is taken in ordinary day light. The polish still glows.

I was in a hurry so I didn’t do any nail art on this. Yes, I know! WTF, right? I am in shock myself, but I honestly think that this polish is pretty enough to be worn without being accompanied by other polishes :D

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Shimmer with holo micro glitter
Overall impression: Awesome polish, just awesome

Ooh La Lacquer ~ Beach Bummer

Ooh La Lacquer ~ Beach Bummer
Hot pink weak linear holo

I have got a couple of Ooh La Lacquers in the box of untrieds, and Beach Bummer is one of them. I decided to use it in a water marble mani!

The formula is quite sheer – it’s the first time I experience that with an Ooh La Lacquer. I used three coats to build it up to desired opacity. The drying time between the coats was good.

I only applied two coats on my ring finger and my middle finger.

I used a Star Gazer polish as my second marbling polish. It’s called #157 and is a blueberry (or even indigo blue) beauty. Both polishes spread out nicely on the water.

I dotted my pinkie and my pointer with the Stargazer too, and there’s topcoat on all the nails to finish it all of.

Here’s my final mani:

The indigo almost turned purple over the pink.

I like marbled striped like these. I used both liquid latex and tape on my fingers.

What I learned about marbling today:
  • If you mess the pattern up in the water, you should start over instead of trying to fix it. It’s the second time I learn that – next time I might even remember it, haha.
  • It’s possible to marble with sheer polishes if you wear a good base colour underneath. Here I used the same pink underneath.

Number of coats:
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Weak linear holo
Overall impression: I’m impressed by the three coats or by the weak rainbows. It’s a nice colour but it doesn’t wow me.

Celestial ~ Peacock Star

Celestial ~ Peacock Star
Dark blue to purple duochromatic shimmer with a dash of red microglitter

Peacock Star is a part of the trio “Starry, Starry Night In Singapore” made exclusively for Mei Mei’s Signatures. I have already shown you Fomalhaut here (LINK), and I didn’t buy the third one, Al Nair.

The formula is okay and the polish covers in two coats. Drying time is good.

Here’s what two coats and a layer of topcoat looks like:

See that red microglitter here and there? That wasn’t even visible in real life, haha!!
Here’s a low light picture. It shows that the duochromatic effect isn’t dramatic.

I dapped a teeny bit of Ellagee’s Hear me Roar onto my nails. It’s a magenta holo, and I love it! Then I applied a layer of OPI’s “Snowflakes in the Air” on top of it all, and finished it off with another layer of topcoat.

Here’s my final mani in the sun.

Here’s a low light picture. If you look carefully you might be able to see the Ellagee peak through :D

Peacock Star isn’t my favourite polish. It’s a bit too dark for me, and the duochromatic effect is too weak to make up for the darkness. So it goes.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Duochromatic shimmer with microglitter
Overall impression: I feel a little bit meh about this polish to be honest

Glittering Elements ~ CE401

Glittering Elements ~ CE401
Purple with weak linear holo effect

When I looked into the box of untrieds I saw this polish from Glittering Elements. It’s CE401 and it’s a prototype I bought a while ago. I’m a sucker for prototypes, and this was even in a mystery bags, and that’s a concept I really like too.

The formula is really good and the polish covers in one single coat. I applied two coats on my pinkie and my pointer, but only one coat on the ring finger and the middle finger.

Then I moved on to my ongoing water marble journey. I used CE401 and a white from Savina called Fantasy Files. Both polishes spread out really nicely on the water. I used liquid latex around my cuticles, and ordinary scotch tape to cover up the rest of the skin.

It smudged a bit on one nail when I dipped my fingers in, but I am satisfied nonetheless.

There’s also a layer of topcoat involved, also on the two nails with a “pearl” on them.

Yes, I like that. I also like the fact that this polish also can be used for water marbling.

What I learned today:
  • White doesn’t have to be the base colour. I used the purple as my base colour and that worked perfectly
  • When you dip two fingers into the water in one go, make sure you dip them at exactly the same time, otherwise one of them might smudge. That’s what happened to me here
  •  Keep on practicing!

Number of coats: 2, but one would have been enough
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Weak linear holo
Overall impression: Pleasant colour, good quality polish. I wouldn’t have mind if the holo effect had been stronger

Darling Diva ~ Nightbird

Darling Diva ~ Nightbird
Indigo Blue linear holo

Nightbird is a beautiful indigo linear holo, and it’s been sitting in my box of untrieds for way too long. I wasn’t in the mood for a completely dark mani though, so I painted two of my nails with Color Club’s silver holo Harp on It from the Halo Hues collection.

There’s two coats of each polish and they both cover well. Drying time is good too, no probs whatsoever!

Here’s that first step in the flashlight (yes, the sun was playing hide and seek with me!)

I totally love both these polishes and I think they fit together perfectly.

I stamped on them! I stamped with the opposite colours and I found the two motifs I used on the same stamping plate from Moyou London: Illusion Collection-02. I wanted to make sure that Nightbird wasn’t a bleeder, so I took my final pictures before I topcoated the whole thing.

Here it is in the sun (yay!)

And here’s a picture with flashlight. I love these two motifs together, it’s almost hypnotizing!

Last shot because I like this so much.

Nightbird is a true gem, I really like everything about that polish, and the same thing goes for the Color Club. I can’t believe I waited for this long before I bought it.

And for the record: Nightbird is not a bleeder, this didn’t change colour when I topcoated it.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Durability: Really good
Finish: Linear holo
Overall impression: Two great polishes that just shines in my stash!
