Alix Avien and Golden Rose Paris gradient

Alix Avien ~ 168
Purple jelly

Golden Rose Paris ~ 309
Dark purple with lots of shimmer

Today I wanted to try out two new polishes that I got in a swap with sweet Aylin from Posh Nail Art.

Alix Avien #168 is a squishy purple with a jelly finish. Application was tricky, but that’s mainly my own fault. I don’t own many jellies, so I’m not quite used to applying them yet. I applied two coats – and if I should have worn it alone, I would have applied three. But I had a gradient in mind for this baby, so two was enough.

Here’s how that looks like:

Squishy is the right word for it, don’t you think?
I made a gradient with Golden Rose #309, which is a lovely dark shimmery purple. Worn on its own it’ll be lovely and vampy!

Here’s that step:

I’m not really pleased with this. I think the problem is that the jelly finish doesn’t go really well with the shimmer. But that can be fixed! How?, you might ask. With glitter, obviously! :D

I applied one coat of You #15, which is a clear base with holographic glitter. My good friend Stinna from Nailant was so sweet to give me this mani-saver!

And here’s that step for you – my final mani:

I must admit that I like it much better with the glitter, I think it’s because it smoothens out the difference in the finish of the two polishes I used in my gradient. :)

But what do you think? Do you like these polishes??

  2. Jellies Are not my favourites. I think it's because they can have a kind of gradient look on there own. I love gradients, but not so much when one polish do it on its own. Did that make sense.... Ehh i hope so :)

But i do like the glitter thing you did :)

    1. That makes total sense. I don't own many jellies either, but that's because I'm more into glittery stuff, as you may have noticed :D
