Red foil-y shimmer

Berry and Bright is from Color Club’s Holiday Joy collection from 2012. It’s been sitting in the box of untrieds for a while, and since it’s been a while since I wore any Color Club, I thought that it was time.

At first I didn’t buy this polish, because I thought that I had lots of reds that look like it. But after seeing swatches of it I knew that it needed to come live with me. I love shimmer!

The formula was tricky for a Color Club. The polish dried so fast, so it was very hard to apply this in an even layer. The polish is very opaque and very close to being a one coater! I applied two coats to try and even irregularities out. I wasn’t at all satisfied with how it looked, so I actually applied a layer of Depend topcoat before taking the pictures, to see if that made the polish look nicer. I don’t think it did.

I took a lot of pictures, and wasn’t really happy with any of them. This looks so much better in real life than it does on picture.

I went for a simple stripe down the middle. I used NYX Ink “Silver Glitter”, which is indeed a silver glitter, haha!! I topped it with a layer of Poshé topcoat and here’s what the final mani looked like:

The pictures are all taken in daylight, without direct sunlight.

  

I really like the simplicity of this mani. But I must admit that I’m somewhat surprised over the formula of this polish. I don’t have many Color Clubs that don’t just apply easily, and this was SO tricky! But! I’m willing to forgive that, since this is a really pretty polish, and I seriously don’t think I’ve got anything quite like it in my collection :)
