CrowsToes ~ Electra
Blue/purple duochromatic
shimmer
Here’s a duochrome that I’ve been eyeing up and winking at for a while.
I love both blue and purple, and obviously also shimmer, so this one
should be a winner, right?
I tested it out on a nail wheel first to see if this would actually work
on its own, or if I had to layer it over black. It looked as if it would take perhaps
three coats to make this opaque, so I decided to give it the over black thing.
So, on with one layer of Essence “Black is Back” and over that: One
layer of Electra. The formula is just perfect, non streaky and self-levelling!
And drying time is pretty good too.
I applied a layer of Poshé topcoat and then started taking pictures. I
had no sunshine to play with today, so all the pics are taken in artificial
light – in the bathroom, actually :) I took a gazillion pictures because the
purple apparently didn’t like to be photographed. It’s there in real life for
sure, but soooo hard to capture on photos, so you’re going to have to take my
word for it.
Here it is – this is the shot that shows the purple shift the best:

And here’s the blue side:
I really like this shade of blue and I love the shimmer, obviously!
One last shot of it, just because I took way too mani many!
I decided to go glitter on this, and actually with another Crowstoes
polish, that I’ve showed you before, here (link), namely Absolum – Your potions
Master. That’s a multicoloured, multisized glitter, and it’s a dream for
glitter lovers. It’s blue, green, red, orange, black and silver; it’s small
glitters, big ones, bars, hexagons and microglitters. To make a long story
short: It’s a glitter bomb.
The formula is great for a glitter. It spreads out well and it dries
pretty fast.
I sealed the whole thing up with another layer of Poshé topcoat. If you
don’t like a little bumpiness on your nails, you might want a layer of glitter
tamer underneath the topcoat, but I don’t mind bumpiness, so here you go:
And a closer look at the colours. It’s funny with the long black bar
glitters. I don’t see them in real life, and yet they’re so clear on the
pictures! Weird, huh?
The glitter on each nail is the result of one dip in the polish, that’s
how packed the polish is with glitter!!
That’s it for now. I’m glad that I had a Crowtoes glitter that went well
with my Electra. Next time I’ll add something more discrete so the duochromatic
polish can shine more!
