Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Raging Hormones
Rusty dusty pink linear
holo
So here’s another Smokey Mountain Lacquer I received in a swap. It’s
described as a cherry red linear holo but seriously, I can’t see that. To me
it’s rusty dusty pink-ish. We can agree that it’s linear holographic though,
haha!
Anyway, the formula is good and the polish is easy to work with. I used
my regular basecoat and that works just great – no need to use aqua basecoat
under this polish. It took two coats to make it opaque and the drying time is
good.
Here’s two coats and no topcoat – taken with flash:
And another one:
Here is a lightbox picture. Not cherry red, is it?
I dabbed a bit of glitter on one side of each nail. I used Darling
Diva’s Caliente, which is a red multisized and multishaped glitter that I got
in a grab bag. When that was dry I applied a layer of Essence’s Gel Look
topcoat, and here’s my final mani:
I quite like the effect of the glitter on one fourth of the nail like
this.
The mandatory lightbox picture:
When I receive a bunch of polishes in the mail I tend to use the one I
like the least first and then work my way through them and save the nicest one
til last. I’ve done that too in this case. I do like Raging Hormones, but it’s
not my favourite of the bunch – perhaps because I expected an actual cherry
red. It’s nice though, no criticism from me. Do you like this? And do you see
it as a cherry red?
Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Drying time: Good
Finish: Jelly, linear holo
Overall impression: I feel
like I’m colour blind at the moment, when polishes are described totally
different than what I see them like. It’s still a good quality polish though.
Buy again: No
I can see no cherries - but I think this nail polish is interesting and I like it, it's lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI like it too, but I also like accurate colour descriptions :)
DeleteNot a cherry red, but such a pretty holo still! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is! :)
DeleteI'm feeling your frustration its hard to like a polish when its completely different to its description. Exactly the same thing happened to me this week only the red turned out to be coral pink ew. My teenage daughter loves it but i don't do coral. Its hard to like a polish when its not close to its description. This is pretty but not cherry red and as always glitter makes it better :)
ReplyDeleteUgh, red is definitely nicer than coral pink, I totally understand how you felt!
DeleteI'm so glad I've got so many glitters in my stash :) There's almost always one that fits :)
What a pretty holo! I like it and it looks good with the glitter :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad you like the final result :)
DeleteSuch a lovely color! I love it with the glitter!
ReplyDeleteYay, that's fantastic to hear! :)
DeleteAgain I agree on both the color (a bit peach/coral too, isn't it?) - and the rainbows are pretty.....
ReplyDeleteToo bad it isn't cherry red...
I soooo wish it was cherry red! But yes, I like the rainbows too :)
DeleteRaging Hormones, haha! I like the color though. When I get new polishes I spare the prettiest for last, too :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to save the best for last, there's really something to look forward to :)
