What used to be Jade ~ Aurora

What used to be Jade ~ Aurora
Now purple linear holo

Do you remember Aurora that I showed you a short while ago?
It looks like this:

I was super disappointed in this polish because it didn’t look anything like the swatch pictures I had seen online. I don’t like being disappointed over my pretties, so I decided to spice it up a bit.

I poured some of it over into a smaller bottle. Then I added red, pink and purple pigments until I liked the colour. A good shake, rattle and roll, and then the polish was ready to apply.

This is what it ended up looking like. This is two coats and a layer of topcoat:

Isn’t it way prettier than the original?

The only downside is that the brush in the little bottle was really wonky and difficult to work with so I had it all over the place, grr. But that’s fortunately a problem that’s easy to solve.

Have you ever made good polishes better this way?

Jade ~ Falling star

Jade ~ Falling star
Aqua green linear holo

I showed you Aurora yesterday and that was quite a disappointment because the colour didn’t match the one I had seen on Jade’s own swatch pictures. Today I’m wearing Falling Star, and that definitely didn’t disappoint.

The formula is good and covers well. It took two easy coats to achieve full opacity. The drying time is pretty good.

I love the colour and the rainbows in Falling Star. This is what two coats look like in the sun:

The colour is super pretty in the shade too and the rainbows still wanted to come out and play.

I added a cute little lizard as the only decoration. I bought it cheap off evilbay.

This reminds me an awful lot about Jade’s Mirage, that I showed you not long ago. Thank god I love them both, haha!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Pretty good
Finish: Linear holo
Overall impression: Cool rainbows, awesome colour
Buy again: Yes!

Jade ~ Aurora

Jade ~ Aurora
Baby pink linear holo

Aurora is baby pink. Way more baby pink that I’d usually go for.

The formula is a bit sheer, but it builds up in two coats. The drying time is average.

The rainbows are prominent. This is what two coats look like in the sun:

And they are still shining brightly in the shade. Aren’t they pretty?

It’s not my colour at all though. Jade’s own published picture of Aurora suggests a waay bolder pink than I received, dammit! Fortunately there are ways around that: Stamping!

My motif is from Marianne Nails No. XX. Yes, that’s what it says on the plate, it’s weird, isn’t it. The red stamping polish is from Colour Alike and it’s called B. a Red Wine.

Here’s the final mani including a layer of topcoat:

The red stamping helped a lot but I must admit that I am so disappointed in Aurora. I just hate it when swatch pictures lie, and trick me into buying polishes I wouldn’t normally consider!

Overall impression: Cool rainbows, not my colour though
Buy again: No, but only because it’s not my colour
