OPI: Morning Moneypenny - revisited

OPI: Morning Moneypenny - revisited
Burgundy magnetic polish with holo microglitter

It's 6 years ago I wore "Morning Moneypenny" last. It's part of the OPI Skyfall James Bond Collection. The polish had landed in my box of untrieds - so I decided to wear it today, even though I've already worn it. It's good to show the older polishes some love as well.

The formula is good and easy to work with. The polish looks a bit dull when applied, but the microglitter helps a lot.

Since this polish reminds me of a burgundy galaxy, I decided to add some more glitter. First I sponged on a bit of China Glaze's "50 Shimmering Years", and then a bit of Golden Rose's more chunky glitter from the Jolly Jewels collection, #108.

Here's the final manicure, including a layer of topcoat.

I really like the dreamy look of this.

This is "Morning Moneypenny" alone, two coats and no topcoat. I like the holographic microglitter.

And here's the lot of polishes I used, including the magnet I used.

I'm not a huge fan of magnetic polishes, but I think this is pretty. I especially like the final result.

Different Dimension ~ Dazzling

Different Dimension ~ Dazzling
Chartreuse shimmer polish with color contrasting aurora shimmers, magnetic

Dazzling is another one of the six polishes in the "You Are Beautiful" collection from Winter 2018/2019. I bought the entire collection and will post a link to the others by the end of each post.

I wouldn't normally have picked "Dazzling" for a couple of reasons. Gold isn't my best colour and I must admit that magnetic polishes isn't a big hit with me. I haven't quite got the hang of it, so I'm hardly ever impressed with the effect.

The formula is really good though and the polish covers well. I used two coats for full opacity and I did hoover the magnet over the still wet polish between coats. The drying time was good.

I made red and yellow dots on it. I used two Essence polishes for the dots: A dark red called "Do You Speak Love?" and a yellow called "Mrs. Brightside". I topcoated it all to seal it up.

Here's the final result.

Different Dimension ~ Dazzling

I think the red and yellow dots look quite nice on the chartreuse base colour.

And here's Dazzling on its own; two coats and no topcoat. The polish is packed with shimmer, but I wasn't able to get much of the magnetic effect to show itself.

These are the things I used today. The magnet came with the set of polishes.

Overall impression: Interesting finish, nice shimmers, not really my colour
Buy again: No, but that's not the polish's fault

China Glaze ~ Positively In Love

China Glaze ~ Positively In Love
Dark magenta magnetic

“Positively In Love” has been in the box for a long time. I think the “Magnetix Collection” was released in 2012. It may be about four years since I bought it.

I have never really been friends with magnetics because I can’t get them to work the way I want them too. My Wycon polishes from Italy are the only ones that have been working for me so far.

I thought I wanted to try this ol’ China Glaze to see if I had luck with it.

I used two coats for full opacity. I used the magnet over both the first and the second coat, just in case. The effect was definitely there, I just wasn’t able to control it the way I wanted to. Perhaps the problem is with me and not with the polish after all, haha.

Let me show you the final result first – I topped it with a silver holo glitter from Monki. It’s called “Silvered” and it’s a lovely and easy to work with topper.

This is the final result photographed in daylight, no sun.

Here’s two coats of “Positively In Love” and no topcoat. The effect is good but I meant to have a diagonal “stripe” down each nail but that didn’t quite work as you can see. Oh well.

I am not sure I’m going to use this the way it’s intended too, but I may use it without using the magnet. It’s a pretty polish nonetheless.

Drying time: Good
Finish: Magnetic/shimmer
Overall impression: Pretty colour, nice polish, strong effect. I can’t control where I want the effect, but that’s probably my fault and not the polish’s

Wycon Magnetic ~ #503

Wycon Magnetic ~ #503
Burgundy magnetic shimmer with holo sprinkles

It’s time for another one of my Italian magnetic polishes, the only magnetic polishes I actually made work! It looks as if I saved the best until last, haha!

It’s a beautiful colour and an easy to work with formula. I used two coats for my mani, and I hoovered the magnetic over the polish before it dried.

Look at this! It’s two coats and no topcoat in the sun:

I absolutely love this. Now I just need to learn how to control where the pattern ends up. Not that I mind that my nails don’t look the same at all, but still.

It reminded me a bit of the universe so I added a layer of glitter! It’s also Wycon, namely #25, which is a clear base with holo glitters and hexes.

This is what my manicure ended up looking like.

Here are the two bottles of Wycon polish. I love them both.

What a couple of great polishes and I love the final result!
