Arcane Lacquer: On The Brink (revisited)

Arcane Lacquer: On The Brink (revisited)
Tomato red microglitter

I'm slowly working my way through the box of untrieds. I found this lovely microglitter and thought it would look really nice on my nails. I didn't realize that this is a backup bottle of a polish that I've already tried - I would have know this if I had turned the bottle upside down and looked at the name before I applied it to my nails. But I didn't. But oh well, it doesn't really matter. It's a pretty polish nonetheless.

I used two coats to achieve desired opacity. The drying time is relatively good.

I applied two Hello Kitty nail stickers onto my nails and made white dots on the remaining nails. I sealed it all up with topcoat and my nails were done.

Here they are:

I love Hello Kitty and dots ^_^

Arcane Lacquer: On The Brink

Here's "On The Brink" alone; two coats and a layer of topcoat. I still love the orange tone in this red colour.

And here's the stuff I used today.

"On The Brink" is a really lovely microglitter with a nice formula. I don't own many Arcane Lacquers and the shop is shut now, but I really like the ones I've got.

Drying time: Relatively good
Finish: Microglitter
Overall impression: Nice formula and colour and I love the glitter too

Arcane Lacquer: Midnight Swim

Arcane Lacquer: Midnight Swim
Teal jelly with glitter in various sizes

Arcane Lacquer shut the business down in 2016, so this polish is another one that has been sitting way too long in the infamous box. And yes, I am trying to move some of them into my Helmers now, so others can take their place.

The formula of "Midnight Swim" is good for a jelly. I used two coats for my nails today. When I look at the pictures it makes me think that I should have gone for a third coat. Oh well. The drying time was average.

The stamped leaves are from the stamping plate "ShopAnts XL-006". I stamped with a stamping polish from El Corazón called "Turguoise".

Here's the final manicure, including a layer of topcoat.

Arcane Lacquer: Midnight Swim

I must admit that I really dig this.

Here's "Midnight Swim" alone, two coats and no topcoat. Isn't is pretty?

I like this way more than I thought I would. The colour is great and I love the glitter! Great little gem!

Overall impression: Great colour and the formula is good for a jelly

Arcane Lacquer ~ On the Brink

Arcane Lacquer ~ On the Brink
Tomato red microglitter

On the Brink has been sitting in my box of untrieds for a long time. I believe I bought it either in the end of 2013 or in the beginning of 2014. I liked it so much that I bought two of them by mistake: One from Norway Nails and one from Arcane Lacquer directly. Silly, but never mind, it’s a pretty polish.

The formula is good and I got full coverage after two easy coats. The drying time is relatively good. I sealed it up with a layer of topcoat.

Here’s what it looks like:

The polish has a touch of orange, hence the “tomato red” in my description. I’ve seen it described as orange, but mine is definitely more red than orange.

I was in a hurry so I wore this on its own. No nail art or anything, just plain micro glitter. It almost felt like I went back to the roots, haha.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Relatively good
Finish:Microglitter
Overall impression: Nice polish, I like the touch of orange
Buy again: Yes (I already have two bottles though :D)

Arcane Lacquer ~ An Amorous Disposition

Arcane Lacquer ~ An Amorous Disposition
Raspberry crelly with silver, red and black microglitter along with holo flake

It’s not very often I stumble across Arcane Lacquer in blogland. I hope it’s because I don’t follow enough blogs and not because the brand isn’t getting any blog-love. It’s a lovely brand, and today I’m going to show you a polish I’ve had a while. It’s called An Amorous Disposition.

The formula is good and the polish covers in two coats. The first coat dried pretty fast, the other took a while longer. I ended up applying a layer of fast drying top coat to speed up the process and I hardly ever do that. I prefer that my polish is dry before I apply the topcoat. But never mind.

As you can see I drew some leopard spots on them. No, I haven’t finished the little mission to learn that properly yet :D

I love the addition of holo flakes in this polish. The sparkles really make a difference.

The silver holo I used for the spots is Silver Holo from Urban Outfitters. I should write to them and demand that they give my go to favourite silver holo a proper name. They could call it Shiny Rainbow for instance! :D

How do you like my leopard spots this time? Any better?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: First coat good, second coat a bit slowly
Finish: Holo shimmer and glittah
Overall impression: Very girly colour, I love the finish!

BeYu ~ 993 Berry Illusion

BeYu ~ 993 Berry Illusion
Berry coloured scattered holographic

I don’t wear BeYu polishes very often. It’s not because I don’t like their polishes, it’s because I only buy them when I am on vacation in Germany :D They do make good polishes, so I always check out the racks of polish when I can.

Berry Illusion was also bought in Germany, not by me, but by a friend of mine, who offered to get me some pretties while she was there.

The formula is great, no problems to report at all. The coverage is amazing; one coat was all it took. The drying time is pretty average.

I had no sun, so here’s one coat and no topcoat taken with flash:

Lovely, yes?

Here’s what it looks like in the shadows. It’s dusty, but still a nice colour.

I made a tape mani out of it. I cut out triangles of tape and placed randomly on my nails, and then I painted a layer of Arcane Lacquer “Colour of Panic” on the unmasked nail. I sealed the whole deal up with a layer of topcoat, and here’s the final result:

I really like these two lacquers together!

What about you, girls? Do you like this? Do you ever mix holos with glitters and other finishes?

Number of coats: 1
Drying time: Average
Finish: Scattered holo
Overall impression: I love the holo effect, but I do think the polish is a little bit dusty when it’s out of the sun. I forgive it though!

Arcane Lacquer ~ An amorous Disposition

Arcane Lacquer ~ An amorous Disposition
Raspberry base with black, silver and red glitters and a dash of holo glitter

Here’s another Arcane Lacquer from my infamous box of untrieds. It’s looking really pretty in the bottle, which is always a good sign.

The formula seemed a bit thin, but I didn’t experience any problems with the application. The coverage was also good. I used two coats to achieve desired opacity, which is good for a crelly.

I applied layer of Poshé topcoat, and then I took my photos:

I love the colour of this, and the glitters look really cute too!

It reminds me of a cupcake with poppyseed, LOL!

I did some stamping on it. I found an all nail motif on a plate from Bundlemonster called BM-422. I stamped with a no name black stamping polish. I applied another layer of Poshé topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I love open designs like this one, that allow much of the base colour to peak through!

One last picture, just because I can!

Verdict: Yes. Just yes. :D
