Gosh: Bonbon

Gosh: Bonbon
Red with pink shimmer

There were no swatches of "Bonbon" online when I bought this polish. Gosh's own picture shows a gorgeous deep magenta with holographic microglitter. (Link toGosh's picture here <- click to see it). My polish is not at all magenta. It's red. And there's absolutely no microglitter in it. I am somewhat disappointed over the huge colour difference.

The formula is good though and I used two coats for full opacity. The drying time is good.

This colour reminded me so much of Minnie Mouse, so I attached a Minnie-sticker onto my ring finger nail and made white dots on my middle finger nail. I applied a white/silver multisized glitter on the remaining finger nails. The glitter is OPI's "Glitter To My Heart".

Here's the result of all that, including a layer of topcoat.

I really like this.

This is "Bonbon" alone; two coats and no topcoat yet. Definitely red and not magenta.

Here's the stuff I used today.

Have you ever tried that the colour of a polish diverted so much from the advertised colour? If yes, which polish was it?

Cuccio ~ Nantucket Navy

Cuccio ~ Nantucket Navy
Navy with blue shimmer

I used this polish for striping when I tried Orly’sRoad Trippin’ (click the link to see what I’m talking about :D). It looked darker than I anticipated so I decided that I needed to wear it as a base colour too.

The formula is great and this, dear readers, is a one coater! I applied an extra coat out of habit and because that’s how I roll, but it didn’t make any difference at all.

So this is two coats:

I like this colour way more than I thought I would. The shimmer makes this polish stand out in my opinion.

I stamped on it anyway because that’s also how I roll. The motif is from Moyou London’s stamping plate Illusion collection-01 and I stamped with Gosh’s Holographic Hero.

This is a photo of that step.

I also added glitter because I really liked stamping with glitter on it. This time I used Jordana’s Lunar Lights, which is a clear base with iridescent glitters in various sizes. I made sure I only got a bit of the glitter on each nail, in order not to overwhelm the holo.

This is my final mani, including a layer of topcoat.

Nantucket Navy is a part of the Romania After Dark Collection.

Number of coats: 1 (I used 2, it didn’t make a difference)
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Tons of shimmer
Overall impression: I like this way more than I thought I would.

Stamping plate BL-L029 from Born Pretty Store

Stamping plate BL-L029 from Born Pretty Store

It’s not a secret that I’m a fan of
Born Pretty Store’s stamping plates, and today I’m going to show you another cool one.

It has got these patterns on it:

Lots of cool floral motifs here, I like it. I chose two designs for my mani, number five from the left on the top row and the matching single flower on the bottom row.

Here’s what that looks like.

The base colour is Gosh’s Holographic Hero, and the stamping polish is called PeachBlow. It stamps over darker colours too, just click the link and see for yourself :D

The verdict:

Pros:
Cool floral designs
Greatly etched
Comes in a cardboard “sleeve” for storage and protection

Cons:
None
