Maybelline ~ Tenacious Teal and pa ~ AA27

Maybelline ~ Tenacious Teal
Dusty green crème

pa ~ AA27
Grass green glitter with larger holographic hexagons

Here are a couple of polishes that have been sitting in my stash of untrieds for a while now. Time to give them a day out! I started off with two coats of Maybelline’s “Tenacious Teal”. I actually don’t think it is teal at all, I think it’s green. The formula was only so-so. The first coat looked streaky and awful, but the second coat levelled it all out after a bit of careful work.

Here’s what that polish looks like, without top coat:

Then I taped my nails diagonally across with masking tape, and painted the lower half of my nails with a coat of one of my polishes from Japan: pa “AA27”. Man!! Those Japanese glitters are just gorgeous, I love them!

Here’s that step. There’s one coat of Seche Vite top coat over it:

It’s on purpose that the lines are curvy. I used a pair of craft scissors to cut the tape with. Next time I’ll buy scissors where the curve is sharper, so it shows more on the nails. Here’s what my scissors look like:

For the stamping part I chose Mash stamping plate number 49, and I stamped with a very dark green/teal from Hot Looks, called “Shameless”. I used Seche Vite as my top coat to seal the design up:

And from a different angle:

The stamping does a lot for me. I mean, I like the angled glitter over the plain crème, but the stamp just adds that little extra, that I like so much. But enough about what I like. Do you like this?

Summer Challenge Day 13: Animal Print

Summer Challenge Day 13: Animal Print

I hope you’re up for awesomeness today. I’ll try one of my new Japanese pretties, namely one of the PA polishes.

The bottles aren’t very big, and since I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to get my hands on this brand again, I decided to layer it. I chose a dark blue Essence polish, “Hard to resist”, which covered perfectly in one coat – but I applied another layer, just to give the PA the best conditions.

“Hard to resist” is a beautiful dark blue and very shimmery polish. The formula is great and drying time is fantastic. I love Essence polishes!

Two coats – no top coat yet:

I love the deepness this polish has got!

Now for the next layer – the PA with the number AA23. It looked pretty thick in the bottle, so I am sure that you can make this opaque in two coats. I’m still glad I’ve got proper underwear for it though! Application was easy, the silver bits spread out almost effortlessly, leaving the nail blue, silver and very sparkly!

Here’s one coat over “Hard to resist”, covered with one coat of Poshé topcoat:

PA AA23
Isn’t that just gorgeous! I love it!!

But hey – we’re here for the animal print, you might say! And yes, you are indeed. I chose to use Mash plate number 39 and stamped twice – first with Barry M’s lilac foil, and then with Essence “Stamp me! Silver” stampy polish.

And here’s your animal print: Unicorns on blue and silver:

What do you think? Is that PA polish a win or what? Is it cheating to use a unicorn as the animal for animal printed nails?

Nail Mail from Japan

Hi girls,

Yes, I got nail mail all the way from Japan. I asked Tera from Nails in Nippon if she was interested in doing a swap with me, but since she was moving back to the US from Japan shortly after, she offered to go shopping for me instead. And I am very happy with that arrangement, because this means I suddenly had access to brands from Japan.

Here's what met my eyes when I had ripped the box open:

Looks pretty amazing already, huh?

Okay, let's see what was in the box!

pa polishes: AA27, AA01, AA21, AA23
Glittah! And the blue one has even got little dolphins in it!

pa polishes: A46, AA18, AA14
More glitter! I'm really looking forward to getting these onto my nails!

Canmake: 41 and 28
And last, but not least:

Tins: 061 and Revlon: Whimsical
Tins is pink packed with holographic glitter. Tera decided to throw Whimsical into the box as a treat for me. I really appreciate that gesture!

Thanks Tera, for shopping for me! <3
