BYS ~ Voodoo Violet

BYS ~ Voodoo Violet
Dark purple packed with multisized purple, pink and holographic glitter

This is my only BYS polish. BYS is an Australian brand, and the letters stand for “Be Your Self”.

It’s not a secret that purple is my favourite colour nail polish, and that I’m a huge glitter fan. This polish satisfies both needs, really, being a beautiful purple packed with glitter. It even says “Glitterazzi” on the lid! That sounds promising in my little ears!

The application was easy. The formula was a bit on the thick side, which means I could apply it effortless and without pulling on the already applied polish. Two easy and fast drying layers and I was satisfied with it.

I finished it off with a generous coat of Poshé top coat. Not that the polish itself dried out particularly gritty, but I used it to protect the mani and add more shine to it.

Here’s a pic taken in the sun:

And here’s one taken in my light box:

Do you like it? I’ve already decided that this isn’t going to be my last BYS!

Guest Blogger: Alice Snow

I've seen other bloggers having guest bloggers, and I'm happy to join that trend.

Allow me to introduce a fellow blogger, which I've followed from the very start: Alice Snow. In case you don't know her yet, you should totally check out her blog - she has lots of cool stuff on there!

So anyway, here's what she has to say to you dudettes:

So, I'm really honoured to be a guest blogger here on Rainbowify Me's blog :) Personally, I really enjoy reading this blog, so I'll try to live up to the standards, haha!

I remember when crackle polish got really popular back in 2010/11, and I wanted to get with the trend, but I never got into it before later - and I thought it was extremely difficult to find good crackle polishes. And now I'm kind of bored with it. It's hard to find cool crackle manis, but I've seen  this a couple of times and I'm in love! I decided to try it myself.

It's basically a series of stripes in six different colours  and then a crackle polish on top to finish it off! I used blue, green, pink, orange, yellow and purple. First a picture of the finished result:

The black crackle gives a nice contrast to the soft rainbow colours. It also makes the transition  more blended and smooth to look at. I must say that I really love this manicure!

Now for a picture of the process. I think it's better to apply just a coat of white nail polish underneath, just for the sake of opacity, but I didn't. I just applied one stripe of each nail polish. It's a mess to clean up because you actually sweep the polish across the nail.

As I said, it's very messy, but you can see that it's also not perfectly applied. It doesn't matter, you won't be able to tell when the crackle comes on. :) After you've applied the colours, give it just one coat of a good topcoat, so it crackles nicely.

These are the polishes I used:
L to R: Bys - Fluoro Yellow, Models Own - Bubble Gum & Models Own - Fluro' Orange

L to R: Essence - Break Through, Color Club - The Lime Starts Here, OPI - Fly

I wanted it to be really bright, so I picked as many neon colours as I could. 4 out of 6 - that's pretty good! The colours need to be pretty opaque, so I guess I missed on some of the colour picks. The Lime Starts Here need like, 4 layers to look nice! That's also why you should have white nail polish underneath.

I used H&M's Cracked Black as a crackle. Honestly, it's the best crackle polish I've ever tried! It's only a couple of bucks, and it works wonders!

All in all, I'm very satisfied with this manicure. I hope you all enjoyed this post, and I'd love to hear your opinions on it! :)

Love, Alice Snow ♥

February Nail Mail

Here are the polishes that I enrolled in my stash during February.

First some Barry M polishes, that I just couldn't live without:

Lilac foil, Lavender and Hologram
Lilac foil should be just as perfect for stamping as their silver and gold foil polishes. We'll see about that.

Vivid Purple, Bright Purple, Shocking Pink and Racing Green

I bought the following in a blog sale:

China Glaze: Techno Teal and Blue Hawaiian. Orly: Royal Velvet

Dare to Wear: Love Potion and Dancing Shoes.
Cácee BFF: Lucy. Finger Paints: Vintage Violet
Sally Hansen: Insta-Dri: Blazing Blue and Rapid Red.
Teflon Tuff: Wink, and X-treme Wear: Disco Ball

I was also so very lucky to win the first prize in Caitt's Giveaway. Here's what I won:

OPI: Pearl of Wisdom, I'm not really a waitress and The Color to Watch

And she even threw an extra prize in, which wasn't mentioned at all:

BYS: Voodoo Violet
Thanks, Caitt, I can't tell how excited I was to find this extra gem in the box!!

I bought these myself:

Sinful Colors: Sugar sugar, Pearl Harbor and L.A.Colors: Voodoo

L.A.Girls Rock Star: Punk, Overdose and Groupie

Jordana: Purple Glam and Cosmic

That's it for February. I have said to myself that I won't be buying polishes in March, but I have ordered some polishes in February that hasn't arrived yet, so there will be a March Nail Mail post whether I keep that promise to myself or not. :D

We'll see how it goes. Perhaps I stumble over a polish that is too hard to live without! ;)
