Magical Music Manis 13: The Shoop Shoop Song ~ Cher

Girls, we've reached the end of the Magical Music Manis! It's been three very interesting months, and I've enjoyed challenging myself along with the other girls who participated!

Here's the last mani:

The Shoop Shoop Song is also called “It’s in his Kiss” and it’s from the movie Mermaids from 1990. The movie is really sweet and it stars Cher, the late, great Bob Hoskins, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci.

Mermaids it is then!

My base colour is perfect for a mermaid mani. It’s beautiful “Memory Loss” from Pipe Dream Polish. I bought it from Edgy Polish and it is silver, green, and turquoise holo glitter in a neon turquoise jelly base. Two coats is what it takes and drying time is good.

I found some mermaidesque designs from Moyou London’s stamping plates Sailor Collection-01 and -08 and I stamped with NailNation 3000’s black crème polish simply called Black.

I stamped various bubbles on three of the nails, a mermaid on one nail and some sea weed on my thumb.

I applied a layer of “Inner Goddess” from Icing – it’s an equivalent to China Glaze’s Fairy Dust.

I can’t lie to you girls. I love this!

Here's the Pipe Dream Polish on its own. It's a lovely polish!

Here’s the video to The Shoop Shoop Song:

To the girls who participated in the challenge with me: Thank you so much, it's been so much fun! Let's do it again sometime! ♥

Magical Music Manis 12: Telephone~ Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé

This is the second last Magical Music mani in the series for now. I’m enjoying this so much!

Telephone is a really long music video, so there’s lots of stuff to be inspired by. I took my inspiration in Gaga & Beyoncé’s car: The Pussy Wagon, that looks like this:

Cool, yes? I also used Beyoncé’s awesome glasses as my inspiration:

And here’s how my final mani ended up looking like:

Yellow is the base colour and I used my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening for that. The red flames is made with a small brush and Bourjois’ Rouge Diva. The black sunglasses are just made with a plain black crème from Herôme called Montenegro. The holo topper is from Smokey Mountain Lacquer, and it does dull the colours a bit.

Here’s what the whole thing looked like before the holo topper.

Here are the polishes I used for my mani:

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri: Lightening, Bourjouis: Rouge Diva, Herôme: Montenegro, Smokey Mountain Lacquer: Holo topcoat

Here’s the very long video to Telephone:

Magical Music Manis 11: All About that Bass ~ Meghan Traynor

We’re slowly but surely approaching the end of the Magical Music challenge. It’s so fun to do these challenges, so I’m a bit sad to see the end of it. Fortunately today is not that day – this is challenge number 11 out of 13, so we’ve still got a couple to go.

All About that Bass is a tribute to all the curvy ladies out there; it’s about how to love yourself no matter what size you are. Great message! Here’s a bit of the lyrics:

I'm bringing booty back
Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that
No I'm just playing. I know you think you're fat
But I'm here to tell ya
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top

The music video is full of pastel colours; here is Meghan with a bunch of balloons:

And here is her choir:

I’m not usually into pastels, they’re too pale for my fair skintone. But I dug deep in the Helmer to find what I needed for my mani.

Here’s my final result:

I used two Pastel polishes as my base: The lilac is #142 and the baby pink is #144.

My index and my pinkie are inspired by the many balloon. I dotted them with three stamping polishes from Moyou (not London).

I used the pink and the blue stamping polishes to stamp on the lips – inspired by the lovely choir.

And it’s all sealed up with topcoat too, just to finish the mani off properly :)

Here are the polishes I used for the mani – this is the first picture of my Moyou stamping polishes – they’re really great!

Here's a funny screenshot from the music video:

Magical Music Manis 10: Frozen ~ Madonna

Frozen! We’re almost too far away from winter to make icy manis, but never mind, haha!

I used a scattered holographic blue as the base and I stamped a “broken” pattern on it from Apipila P.6. On top of it I dapped a little bit of white glitter to represent the ice. The glitter I used was El Corazón # 531a from the Confetti collection.

Take a look at my frozen mani:

These two first pictures are taken with flash:

And here’s a non flash picture:

I also took a picture of the base colour alone, because I really like this blue! It’s El Corazón #423/37 Prisma. I love that collection of polishes.

El Corazón has proven to make winner polishes once again – I love pretty much everything about them!

Magical Music Manis 8: Endless Summer ~ Oceana

"Endless Summer" is by the German singer Oceana Mahlmann. The song was the official UEFA Euro 2012 theme song.

Umm, I had many ideas for this song, because the theme “summer” can be interpreted in so many different ways.

In the end I took my inspiration in the dress Oceana is wearing in the video:

Nice colours, don’t you think?

Here they are, transferred onto my nails:

I used:
White: OPI Angel with a Leadfoot
Turquoise: Pastel #123
Orange: Pastel #310
Yellow: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening

And I added glitter too, Sally Hansen X-treme Wear “Disco Ball”.

I think I like it equally much with or without glitter, which is a surprise to me because I was sure I was going to like it more in the ‘with glitter’ configuration.

Anyway, here are four of the five polishes I used.

I love the colour scheme!

Magical Music Manis 7: Drop it like it’s hot ~ Snoop Dogg

Now we’re more than halfways in the weekly challenge – times surely flies when you’re having fun! Today I’ll try to interpret a rap song. I took the easy way around after last week’s monumental fail (check it out here) – I made flames on my tips!

I started out with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Lightening”, which is a yellow crème. Great yellow, easy to work with, covers in two coats. Then I made the flames with Orange Impulse and Rapid Red, both from the Insta-Dri collection.

Lastly I applied a layer of Essence’s Waking Up In Vegas, which is an orange flakie.

I did consider to apply a bit of black on the tips, but I was afraid it was going to overwhelm the red and orange!

Here are the polishes I used:

I like the look of this, even though the base colour is yellow. And I like the effect the flakie gives too. So yes, it’s simple, but sometimes simple is good!

Magical Music Manis 6: Stereo Heart ~ Gym Class Heroes

Hi girls,

It’s time for the sixth mani in the Magical Music Mani-challenge, and I might as well reveal right away that I failed miserably with this one.

I chose Stereo Heart because I really like the song, but I must admit that it was a bit too much of a challenge to get it down onto my nails.

I found my inspiration in this still pic from the music video:

Stereo Hearts is a love song. Here’s the chorus:

My heart's a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note
Make me your radio
And turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

So I started out with two coats of OPI’s Mad About You which is a baby pink crème. When that was dry I sponged red on the tips with Essence’s Glamorous Life, which is a shimmery red. Love colours, I reckoned. I topped it with a glitter; OPI’s Desperately Seeking Sequins.

And then I tried to make symbols from the radio on my nails, and this is the step where I failed terribly. I’m going to show it to you anyway – here’s my final and fail mani:

Ugh, right? The pinkie and the pointer which should represent the speakers, look like ugly and weird boobs!

I must admit that I preferred my mani before I started with the black striper!

Here are the polishes I used:

OPI: Mad About You, Essence: Glamorous Life, OPI: Desperately Seeking Sequins, Claire’s: Black striper

I promise I’ll do better next week, haha!!

Magical Music Manis 5: Moulin Rouge ~ Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, Pink

Yay, it’s Monday! Let’s down down to it with a Magical Music Mani!

Lady Marmalade! Here’s an inspirational picture from the music video:

Vampy red, gold and black. Not a bad colour combo – I dig that!
So I painted index, middle and pointer red with Anny’s Sunset Love, and my ring finger gold with Barry M’s Gold Foil Effects. I made a gradient on my index and my pointer, using the same red and Essence’s Black is Back.

I made black stripes on my middle finger.

I stamped on my ring finger. The motif is from Moyou London’s Princess Collection-10 and stamped with Anny’s Sunset Love.

Here’s what my nails looked like before I started on the nail art:

I think this mani represents the vampiness of the video, and the heart is obviously the background in the video.

Do you like it? Does it fit the theme?

Magical Music Manis 4: Tutti Frutti ~ Little Richard

It’s time for another Magical Music Mani! This time it’s Little Richard’s ‘Tutti Frutti’ I use for inspiration.

I bought some fruit fimos last time I was in Germany and this is the perfect mani to use them for!

Let me show you what the final mani ended up looking like:

I started out with two coats of Rival de Loop’s “Orange Sunset”. When that was dry I taped my nails and painted red triangles with Rival de Loop’s “Sunkissed Red”, which is an orangy red shimmer. Unfortunately it’s a bit too close to the orange, so you only see there are two colours if you check carefully.

When that was dry I applied a layer of topcoat and placed a fimo slice on each nail. I finished the whole thing with another layer of topcoat.

This lightbox picture might show you the two colours on my nails – or maybe not :D

Anyway, I didn’t actually wear this. My C-curve makes the fimos stick up too much, and I’m a picker! But I still think it’s a great mani, and I am surprised over how much I’ve come to like orange!

Here’s the video to Tutti Frutti:

Magical Music Manis 3: Unconditionally ~ Katy Perry

Hi girls,

That weekend went fast, and it’s now time for the third Magical Music Mani in my 3 months challenge. This time it’s Katy Perry’s ‘Unconditionally’ that I’ll try to get down onto my nails.

Here’s the picture that inspired my mani – it’s a screenshot from the music video.

Golden orange, red and black! Nice colours!

I painted my index and pointer orange with Rival de Loop golden glow “Orange Sunset” – a gorgeous shimmery orange. I painted my ring finger black with Essence’s “Black is Back” and my middle finger red with Anny’s “Sunset Love”.

After the decoration of the nails, my final mani looked like this:

I dotted my index and pointer with the red and black alternatively. I dotted a cross on my ring finger to symbolize the big beautiful earrings, Katy is wearing.

I stamped on my middle finger. The pattern represents the dress, and I used a swirly motif from Moyou London Princess Collection-13 and just stamped with Barry M‘s Golden Foil Effects.

I’m pleased with this. Very pleased!

Here’s the video to Unconditionally:
