Fair Maiden Polish: Illuminate

A deep blue that shifts aqua to violet, with pink- gold - green iridescent flakes and holographic sparkle

"Illuminate" is part of the group custom "For The Love Of Polish" for January 2021. January's  theme was "Fireworks".

The formula seems sheer at first, but the polish builds up nicely in two coats. The drying time is good.

I placed some floral and skull stickers on each nail. The stickers are from a vacation in Germany a long time ago.

I topped it all with topcoat and my nails were done. I was super lucky because the sun came out when I was ready to take my photos :D

Isn't that just pretty?!

Here's "Illuminate" alone; two coats and no topcoat yet. The photo is taken under a lamp because the sun wasn't up yet.

Fair Maiden ~ Mont Blanc

Fair Maiden ~ Mont Blanc
Cool toned white with a red/gold/green shimmer and packed with green/blue/aqua shifting iridescent flakes

"Mont Blanc" is from the "For The Love Of Polish"-box from September 2019. The theme was Around the world.

The formula was sheer but it builds up to desired opacity in three coats. Next time I'll layer it over white instead, I think it gives an effect that I like better.

The dots are made with two stamping polishes from Colors by Llarowe: "Turq'd" and "The Heart Bleeds".

This is the final result including topcoat.

I like the end result quite a lot.

Fair Maiden ~ Mont Blanc

This is "Mont Blanc" alone; three coats plus a layer of topcoat. The polish applies easily and the flakies are not bumpy.

Here are the polishes I used today.

I wouldn't have bought this on its own. I'm not a huge fan of white polishes and I knew it would be a three coater because otherwise the flakies drown. I'll definitely use it as a topper in future!

Mont Blanc was limited edition and is no longer available.

Link to the other polishes in the September 2019 FTLOP box:

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Okay
Finish: Flakie
Overall impression: It's way nicer in the bottle than on my nails. Not my preferred colour for sure
Buy again: No

Fair Maiden ~ Duchess

Fair Maiden ~ Duchess
Violet purple holo with colour shifting shimmer pink-gold-green and silver holo particles

Duchess is from the Feline Catty Collection from summer 2016 just like Rajah that I showed you yesterday.

The formula is good and the polish covered all visible nail line in two easy coats. The drying time is good.

This is two coats and no topcoat taken with flash:

Here’s a low light picture. I can’t really see the colour shifting shimmer on my nails – to me it just looks like it’s pink.

I wanted to try a tool I bought a while ago that I haven’t got around to using it yet. It’s metal template that allows you to stamp in various patterns without masking the nail. It looks like this:

The motif comes from Moyou London’s stamping plate Back to the 80’s-04. The stamping polish is a fake OPI: Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees.

This is my final mani including a layer of topcoat:

I really love this!

I like the polish, especially with that little extra added. The stamping template is brilliant!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Really good

Fair Maiden ~ Rajah

Fair Maiden ~ Rajah
Melon orange with blue flash, violet sparkle and gold holo particles

Rajah is from the Feline Catty Collection from summer 2016. Melon orange is not a colour I usually fall for, but there was something about this polish that made me buy it anyway.

The application was easy and I had full opacity after two coats. The drying time is good. This polish isn’t easy to capture on cam though. It appears a tad darker on photos than it is in real life. I did my best.

Here’s two coats:

The blue flash that was stated in the description turned out pink on my nails. I don’t mind that at all.

I made a really unusual colour combo with the stamping. I used a heart motif from BP L-013 and I stamped with El Corazón’s stamping polish Turguoise.

This is the final mani including a layer of topcoat:

This last picture is taken without flash and is pretty colour accurate.

It’s unusual for me to wear this colour on my nails. I can’t help getting a grandma feeling when I look at them even though I like the colour.  The polish is going to stay in my stash though, because I obviously don’t have anything like it.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Shimmer with holo particles
Overall impression: Really unusual colour, nice quality polish
Buy again: Yes, I probably would
