Alanna Renee ~ Lenny

Alanna Renee ~ Lenny
White crelly base with red and blue glitters and black circles

I got Lenny in a grab bag recently.

It’s a white crelly base and I wasn’t in the mood for applying layer after layer so I started out with a layer of a plain white crème from Savina. When that was dry I added two coats of Lenny. The glitter isn’t difficult to work with. I didn’t fish for the circles so I ended up with two of them, both on my middle finger. The drying time is slow.

Here’s two coats over white, with a layer of topcoat on top:

Hmm...

I might as well be honest: I’m not impressed. I have read reviews that say that this covers in two coats, but there’s no way that the stuff in my bottle will cover in two coats. The drying time is slow and that’s always a bit of a minus in my book. But wait. There’s more. Now -  I must admit that I do not at all like finding stuff in my grab bags that the shop also sells on special – and especially not when they’re charging me *more* for the bottle in my grab bag than they sell it for in the shop. That’s not good style in my opinion, and even though I’m a sucker for grab bags, I won’t be buying any more grab bags from this store. Finito. Bye Bye, as they say.

Number of coats: 2 over white
Drying time: A bit slow
Finish: Jelly with glitter bits
Overall impression: Meh. I don’t like the black circles in this mix of glitter
Buy again: Nope

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Weird Cyance

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Weird Cyance
Turquoise green with pink shimmer – and scattered holo effect

I’ve got a special polish to show you today! Weird Cyance is another custom polish made for a fangroup on Facebook. The only way to snatch this beauty was to be a member of that exact fangroup at the exact right time. I was so lucky to be both, yay!

Formula, pigmentation, drying time – I have only positive things to say about it all. The polish glides on effortlessly, dries fast and it takes two coats to make it opaque. No aqua basecoat is needed, any basecoat will do.

Here’s what two coats and no topcoat looks like.

This polish has got so many facets that it’s impossible to catch them all on camera. Let’s just say it’s a pretty amazing polish!

Weird Cyance has got a strong pink shimmer. You can see it if you look at the bottle on this next picture. It’s obvious on the nails too, just not on the pictures, unfortunately!

Here’s a picture taken with flash, so the scattered holo gets its chance to shine too!

I added some glitter to my mani by using Alanna Renee’s “Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails”, it’s a mix of red and blue holo hex glitter, and holo particles and I showed it to you in this post. I sponged it on my tips on pinkie, pointer and thumb and on the base of the nail on my ringfinger and the middle finger. I sealed it all up with a layer of topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I think that glitter matches Weird Cyance perfectly! I’m thrilled that I picked that exact glitter!

So that’s another Facebook group custom that I like a lot, and I’m pleased that I got it. Do you like this colour? And would you have matched this with a different glitter? If yes, then which would you have picked?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Good
Removal: No problems
Overall impression: Amazing colour. I love the strong pink shimmer too.
Buy again: Yes

You can’t buy this polish if you are not a part of the Facebook group, but you can buy other pretty Lilypad Lacquers at norwaynails.com. You should definitely check out Angel’s Kiss, I showed you about a month ago!

Alanna Renee ~ Tranquil

Alanna Renee ~ Tranquil
Teal with lavender hex glitter, small light blue and purple hex glitter, large turquoise square glitter and small indigo flakes

A long time ago Norway Nails had a special event going on, and I jumped the wagon and shopped some pretties. The special deal was that Wenche, the owner of Norway Nails, would toss in extra polish, like - the more you bought, the more extra polish you got. Tranquil was one of my extra polishes.

I like the few Alanna Renee polishes I have. I have two, and they’re both glitters, so I was curious to see if this “real polish” could live up to its glittery sisters.

The formula is good, and the polish applied easily. I didn’t fish for glitters or flakes, I just applied whatever came up on the brush. It only took two coats for this to look good, and yes, this does indeed look good. Let me show you two coats and one layer of Poshé topcoat:

I really like the added glitter to this really nice colour. Purple and teal go really well together, and Tranquil is a great name for this polish.

All the pictures are taken in my lightbox. Mr. Sun has been sulking all winter. Typical male ;)

And one last one:

I must say that I am really pleased with my extra polish, and if there should ever be such an event again, I’ll be sure to buy some of the polishes I’ve been sighing to add to my collection ;)

What do you think? Do you think Tranquil is as cool as I do?

You can buy Tranquil on norwaynails.com.

Alanna Renee ~ Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice

Alanna Renee ~ Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice
A mix of pink and purple holo hex glitter and holo particles

Let me show you another Alanna Renee polish. I showed you “Snips &Snails & Puppy Dog Tails” the other day, and today it’s “Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice” which I’m going to show off. I think the names are a bit long, but seriously, I love them! Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice is a mix of pink and purple holographic hexagons and glitters, mixed with holographic particles. It sounds like my kind of polish, doesn’t it.

I chose another Golden Rose Matte Velvet as underwear for this pretty glitter, namely #107, which is purple with shimmer. A beauty, which is well pigmented and dries really fast. I’ll show you what it looks like at the end of this post.

I placed some striping tape on my nails before I applied the glitter. I pulled it off again right after application, and while the glitter was still wet. On these first pictures it isn’t really visible what effect that had, because these first pictures are taken in full sunshine. There’s a layer of topcoat over, btw.

Take a look at how pretty it is:

On this next picture you can almost see the stripes. Check the middle nail, that is the one it shows the most on.

I really like the look of this glitter!

Here’s a blurry pic to let the holo glitter show off!

This picture is taken in daylight, but out of the sun. That shows the stripes really well, and I love that I made that detail!

I promised you to show you the Golden Rose Matte Velvet I used as underwear. The entire collection is great as base for other stuff. They’re pretty much all one coaters and dry really fast. If I had worn this #107 alone, I would have applied two coats, but this dear ladies, is just one coat:

I’m happy with this. Would you also have been happy, if you were me?

I bought Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice on norwaynails.com.

Alanna Renee ~ Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails

Alanna Renee ~ Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails
A mix of red and blue holo hex glitter, and holo particles

I love painting my nails, there’s no doubt about that. I also prefer to make some kind of nail art on them. Ordinary ‘plain’ can look cool – but not on me, haha! So what do I do when life gets in the way and time for painting my nails is limited? Allow me to show you an example.

I spent less than 20 minutes on this mani! I grabbed two polishes. The first one is a one coater from Golden Rose’s Matte Velvet collection: #104, which is lovely denim blue with shimmer. It’s got a great formula, covers in one coat, and dries fast. Totally win! But let me save that till last, because that was just the underwear for a new glitter which I bought from Norway Nails: Alanna Renee’s “Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails”. It’s a great looking glitter, but it does require three coats to be opaque, and drying time is only average, and I just hadn’t got time for that.

I applied one layer of the glitter over the denim blue Golden Rose. The formula was great and the glitter spread out evenly and effortlessly. Drying time is, like I just mentioned, average, and when it was almost dry, I applied a layer of Poshé topcoat. Ét voila: my mani was done in a little more than 15 minutes. Perfect. Take a look at how pretty it ending up being:

I’m glad I picked a denim blue as underwear for this – that way both the light blue and the red glitters show up clearly.

The sun wasn’t cooperative (he’s going to have to work *very* hard to get a kiss from now on!), and so all the pics in this post are taken with flash.

I really like the mix of glitters here, and I will try and make it opaque on its own one day, when I’ve got more than 20 minutes to do my nails.

Here’s the Golden Rose Matte Velvet #104 I used as underwear. A fantastic polish; I love pretty much everything about it!
And dear ladies, this is one coat:

That’s it. Less than 20 minutes later I was ready to continue with all the stuff I was busy with. I think these two polishes are a perfect match – and I’ll definitely do something like this again on those extra busy days.

Would you like to see more “cool nails in less than 20 minutes”-manis here?
