CrowsToes ~ Bulls#!t Detector

CrowsToes ~ Bulls#!t Detector
Neon orange textured polish with shimmer

Today I’m going to show you something awesome, just you wait and see!

I don’t really use my textured polishes very often. It’s not because I’m over them, it’s just because my holo/glitter phase seems to last forever! But Bulls#!t Detector is neon orange with holo shimmer so that was too good to give a miss.

I made this mani with it:

It’s two coats of Bulls#!t Detector. It’s really easy to work with and dries fast. And it sticks to the nails like crazy, hahaha!! :D

The pawprint stamp is from a no name Essence plate and the three other stamps are all from Mondlebunster’s BM-613. I sponged a little bit of white on the middle finger and the ring finger, just to add effect.

It’s with stamps like the tiger head you can tell that my nails are relatively small. I had a really hard time fitting it all onto my nail. It probably would have fitted better on the thumb :)

So! Do you like neon textures like this one? Or are you totally over textures as a whole?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Really fast
Finish: Texture with holo shimmer
Overall impression: Wow! Just wow!

Ellagee ~ Ring Ding Ding Ding Dingeringeding

Ellagee ~ Ring Ding Ding Ding Dingeringeding
Terracotta orange with holo effect

Today I’m going to show you an orange polish with a funny name: Ring Ding Ding Ding Dingeringeding. It’s orange with a muted holo effect.

The formula is good and the polish covers in two coats. Drying time is good.

My pictures aren’t colour accurate. I couldn’t catch the dustiness/terracotta colour on cam, so this looks way more bold than it actually is.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat with flash:

I wish it looked like that in real life too, haha. Here’s a low light picture:

Imagine it more Autumn-y than the picture suggests and I think you got the picture.

I made a tiger mani out of it. I sponged white down the middle of my ring and middle finger. I used H&M’s Snow White for that purpose. Then I stamped tiger stripes on those two fingers. The motif came from BP-16. I stamped paw prints on the rest of the nails with a motif from a no name Essence stamping plate.
One layer of motif-smearing topcoat, and here’s the final mani:

One last shot:

I’m not happy with the polish because it’s leaning too much toward Autumn. But oh well, you can’t win them all, can you.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Muted holo
Overall impression: I’m not a huge fan. There’s nothing wrong with the quality of the polish though

Dare to Wear ~ Majestic Wonders

Dare to Wear ~ Majestic Wonders
Green teal with silver flecks

I felt like showing you one of the others Dare to Wear polishes I bought – it’s time for Majestic Wonders – I like that name, I am not sure why.

But anyway, I like the formula. The polish is easy to apply and it covers well. I used two easy coats, and the drying time is good. And I must admit that I really like the colour!

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat.

Isn’t that just me? I’d say it is!

I was in the mood for something wild, hahaha, so I made it into a leopard mani. I found a good “spotty” motif on Moyou London’s all design stamping plate Tropical Collection-01 and I found paw prints on a no name Essence stamping plate. I stamped with NailNation 3000 “Black”.

Here’s what that step looks like:

What’s missing? Holo! I holofied it with a holo topcoat from Smokey Mountain Lacquers. It’s easy to work with and it only greys the base colour a little. The drying time is a bit average, but at least it didn’t pull on my design!

Here’s my final mani:

And one final shot:

Yes, yes, yes, I dig this!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: shimmer
Overall impression: I like the colour and the finish, and it’s a great quality polish

Dance Legend WOW Prism ~ Party Time

Dance Legend WOW Prism ~ Party Time
Magenta glass fleck holo

Today I’m going to show you something awesome, namely one of the really cool Wow Prisms from Dance Legend. She’s magenta, she’s holo and she’s totally awesome, just you wait and see!

The formula is great and easy to apply. I was satisfied after two coats, although I’ve heard that it’s better with three. I didn’t apply a third because I didn’t think it made sense when I was actually pleased with what I saw. The drying time between the coats is good and the polish dries completely flat to the nails.

This baby can really shine! Look how pretty two coats and no topcoat is in the sunshine:

The holo flecks makes it look as if it glows from within, I love that effect!

Here’s a picture taken in my lightbox. That colour is so fine, I love it!

I stamped on it. I used a round motif from an old unnamed Essence-plate and I stamped with a black no name stamping polish. I stamped the design twice on each nail, and I topped it all with a layer of Poshé topcoat.

Here’s my final mani in the sun:

A lightbox picture:

There’s only one thing to say: Ooh la la!! :D I love pretty much everything about this polish!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Crelly with holo flecks
Overall impression: OMG, this is an amazing polish!

Glittering Elements ~ Rose Thorn

Glittering Elements ~ Rose Thorn
Dusky pink holo

Here’s another Glittering Elements polish. It’s pink and it’s holographic! It sounds good already, doesn’t it!

The formula is great, no problems to report at all. It takes two coats to achieve desired opacity, and the drying time between the coats is fast. And girl, this polish is beautiful!

Take a look at two coats, no topcoat, picture taken with flash:

oooooh, I like that holo goodness!

This is a really interesting finish – it’s like a mix between linear and scattered holo.

Here is a low light picture. It’s still a cool colour!

I stamped on it! I found some rose motifs on two different stamping plates: The XL plate “H” and an old Essence plate. I stamped with a black no name stamping polish. I applied a layer of Ellagee’s Glass topcoat and here’s the final mani taken with flash:

And a low light picture:

Verdict:
I like this so much more than I imagined I would. The polish is pretty in low lights, and it’s amazing in the sunshine. Polished thumbs up from me!!

OPI ~ Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorffs in a V-day mani

OPI ~ Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorffs
Deep shimmery red-ish purple

Suzi and the 7 Düsseldorffs is from OPI’s Germany collection from Autumn 2012. I’ve been looking at it again and again in the shops, but restraining myself from buying it for two reasons:

  1. I think the name is absolutely ridiculous. And I think that OPI is getting worse and worse with the ludicrous and\or dumb-ass polish names
  2. It’s an OPI, my Nemesis. The brand that I keep buying and being disappointed in because it doesn’t work well with my chemistry…
But - when I found an unused bottle in a blog sale, I gave in and bought it. It’s such a pretty purple after all, shimmery and almost glowing.

Little did I know that I was in for a surprise: The formula was actually nice, and the pigmentation was good. It took two coats to reach the desired opacity, and the drying time was also pretty good, even for me.

Here’s my mani, two coats and no top coat:

And from another pretty angle:

I decided to make this a Valentine’s Day manicure. I stamped on three of the nails and painted glitter over two.

I used an Essence stamping plate (no name or number) and Essie’s “Nothing Else Metals”, which I only bought with stamping in mind.

The glitter on my pinkie and my thumb is from Finger Paints and is called “Movie in the Park”. It’s a lovely purple and blue glitter that looks amazing over this base colour.

There’s one coat of Poshé top coat on it, to seal it all up :)

So there you have it: An OPI I’m truly happy with! Score! ♥

HITS ~ Atena

HITS ~ Atena
Deep pink linear holographic

Atena is from the Brazilian “Hits No Olimpo” collection of holographic polishes, and lots of the polishes from that particular collection have been on my wish list for a very long time. So I was happy to finally enrol this polish into my stash – along with a couple of its sisters ;)

Application was easy. The brush is nice and wide and the pigmentation of the polish is amazing. The holo was strong after the first coat, but I wanted to give this beauty the best conditions, so I applied a second one. And wow! I am absolutely in love with this beautiful polish!

Two coats, no top coat:

Here’s another picture, just because I can’t get enough of looking at this:

I left it like this for half an evening before I couldn’t resist any more. I couldn’t leave it as it was – I needed to add just something. I stamped on it, but I deliberately chose a small stamp and a silver no name stamping polish that wouldn’t take over the entire mani. I used an un-named stamping plate from Essence.

Here’s the result. There’s a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Shine top coat on top of it:

And another shot. I actually like that the result is so subtle!

The only bad thing I can come up with about this polish is that I used more polish for the two coats than I imagined. So since the holo is so strong, I’m going to layer it next time to save some of the precious drops of polish!

I wonder if you like this as much as I do?

Music Challenge 2: I wanna be a rock star (Nickelback)

Music Challenge 2: I wanna be a rock star (Nickelback)

Here’s the second spot in my music challenge. I think it’s quite funny to make these challenges because it causes me to reflect.

What do I think of when I think of rock stars? Hmm… Denim and leather and rivets, I guess. I went for the denim look today.

I’ve got this polish from BK, called 04. It’s probably the thickest polish I own, and the brush is quite fat. It’s denim blue with shimmer, and it only took one coat to be opaque.

I thought it would dry up semi matte but it didn’t, it was just shimmery. Here’s how it looks; one coat with one layer of Miss Sporty top coat:

 And from another angle:

I quite like this look, so it’s definitely not the last time I’m using this polish. I even wonder if it’s a dupe for Barry M’s Denim…but I don’t have that, so I can’t compare.

Then I stamped on it. I used a plate from Konad called m3 and Essence’s “Stamp me! Silver” stampy polish for the stars on three fingers, and Mash stamping plate #28 and a no name white stamping polish for the skulls on the ring finger and the thumb.

Here is the final design – covered up in a coat of Poshé top coat as usual:

And from another angle:

Rock’n’roll!!

What do you think of when you think of Rock stars?

Let’s head over to the other girls who are doing this challenge, and see what they’ve come up with:

Next challenge up is in three days, and we’re going “Over the rainbow”! I can’t wait!

Magnetic ~ Freakin’ Violet

Magnetic ~ Freakin’ Violet
Dark purple base with green and blurple flakies

I got this polish in a swap with my sweet friend Kvacka from Rainbows and Blues. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not a magnetic polish. It’s a beautiful flakie, and I’ve been dying to try this on.

The formula is good, although I had some trouble controlling where the polish went. It wasn’t the polish’s fault, but solely mine. Some days are just like that, eh?

Anyway, it only took two coats to achieve the desired opacity and here’s how it ended up looking. I’ve put on a coat of Seche Vite to protect it! :)

It’s obvious to see why they call it Freakin’ Violet. It’s amazingly deep. I wish the sun was out, I’m sure it’s even more amazing in the sun!

Anyway, moving right on. I decided to do a bit of nail art on it. I first used a striper from L. A. Colors’ Art Deco series called “Teal glitter”. I made three striped vertically on each nail. Here’s that step:

The teal compliments the purple and the flakies perfectly.

Next step was stamping. I stamped flowers taken from a unnamed stamping plate from Essence, and I used Barry M’s “Lilac foil” as my stamping polish. I stamped the flowers randomly on each nail, because I like that effect. After the stamping I sealed it all up with another coat of Seche Vite top coat.

And from another angle, just because I love this design:

That’s freakin’ violet, ladies. Do you like it as much as I do?
