Quo by Orly ~ Turquoise Moonlight

Quo by Orly ~ Turquoise Moonlight
Turquoise packed with shimmer

Quo by Orly were originally limited to only be sold in Canada. My first couple of bottles were sent as a part of a swap with a Canadian girl. I am pretty sure I bought this bottle in TKMaxx in Germany. I have no idea how it ended up there since I have never seen any other Quo by Orly polishes on my tours to Germany. Never mind though, it’s a really beautiful and super shimmery polish.

The formula is good. I have read other blog posts about “Turquoise Moonlight” where it’s described as sheer. My bottle of prettiness is not sheer; it covers really well and I used two easy coats for full opacity. The drying time is average.

I made a tape manicure out of it, using zig zaggy nail vinyls. I paired it with a beautiful glitter from “Cosmetic Arts”. I bought that in a blog sale a long while ago and it hasn’t got a name or a number.

This is my final manicure including topcoat. The photo is taken in the lightbox and doesn’t show all the blingyness of the polish.

I took this photo of “Turquoise Moonlight” in the sun. The shine is just amazing and the bling is really something.

Here’s the stuff I used. “Turquoise Moonlight” has a slight duochromatic effect as you can see. It’s nothing that’s visible once the polish is on the nails though.

Wow, I really like this polish. It’s beautiful and all the shine is right up my alley.

Quo by Orly ~ Mega Orange

Quo by Orly ~ Mega Orange
Orange texture packed with shimmer

Quo by Orly was originally only available in Canada, and I got a couple of them back in the days when I swapped with a pair of Canadian girls. This orange beauty is bought in Germany though, but I’ve only seen the brand there that one time.

It’s been sitting in the infamous box for a while though but today is a day where I was in the mood for a nice orange colour on my nails.

Two easy coats is what it took to achieve full opacity. The drying time was really good on the first layer and pretty average on the second layer. I find that that is the way it is with many textures.

I made a dry marble out of it. I used a black: OPI’s Never have too Mani Friends, a red: Masura’s Can I just take a Glance, and a silver holo: KBShimmer’s Pt Young Thing.

This is the final mani including topcoat.

I love the mix of colours here.

Here’s Mega Orange on its own; two coats. Isn’t it just a gorgeous orange?

This is the four polishes I used for my manicure.

I really like dry brush manicures. Perhaps I should do them more often! :D

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: First coat good, second coat average
Finish: Texture with shimmer
Overall impression: Great colour and formula and I love the colour

Quo by Orly ~ Celestial Star

Quo by Orly ~ Celestial Star
Dark blue/purple shimmery duochrome

Quo by Orly polishes are only available in Canada, and that’s a shame because they’re really beautiful. I received mine in a swap, and I love the ones I’ve got. Celestial Star is the first one I’ve tried on. It’s a deep blue/purple duochrome with tons of shimmer in it. I was excited to find out if the beauty would transfer onto the nails.

First coat was streaky and weird, and drying time was rather slow. I applied a second coat, and that helped. Drying time was on the very slow and very boring side, but I managed to sit through it without denting the mani. The beauty definitely transfers onto the nail. The main colour is blue, and the purple flashes nicely as I twist and turn my fingers.

Here it is in all its glory; two coats, no top coat:

And from another angle:

I wanted to add some stars to the Celestial Star. Cheeky stamping plate CH4 has an all nail design with stars, and I used Konad’s white stamping polish for the design. And here’s the final result:

And from another angle – isn’t it just a fabulous polish? I love it!

Here’s a close up of the bottle. It depends on the light whether the polish flashes more blue or purple. But I love both colours, so I’m good with either of the two.

I’m in love with this colour, and I can’t wait to try my other Quo by Orly polishes on. Is it a brand you’re familiar with?
