Dance Legend ~ Spot it - Red

Dance Legend ~ Spot it - Red
“Bubbly” red topper

Today’s manicure is another attempt with Dance Legend’s “Spot it”-polish. It’s a bit like a crackle polish, just with bubbles instead of crackles. I have tried a couple of times before but I didn’t really get it to work. I asked for advice and was told that it might help if the polish underneath wasn’t completely dry. Let’s put that to a test!

I started out with a silver holo from Urban Outfitters with the original name “Silver Holo”. I know, it doesn’t get much better than that :D

I applied one coat and let that dry completely. Then I applied a second coat on the pinkie nail, put the brush down and immediately after (no waiting at all!). It didn’t seem to work so I moved on to the next nail and repeated – only this time I applied less of the red polish. That helps a little bit, so the next nail got a little less red and so on and so forth.

I applied a layer of topcoat and my manicure was ready for the camera.

Here’s the result. You can see the “bubbles” more and more for each nail. I made the pinkie first and the pointer last and there is way more effect on the pointer.

Heres’ a daylight picture so you can see the “bubbles” more.

These are the two polishes I used.

I must admit that I am less than impressed with these “bubbly” polishes. The effect I achieve is really limited so I don’t think I’ll reach for these very often. Fortunately I only bought two of them, a red and a white.

Number of coats: 1 over wet polish
Drying time: Average
Finish: Bubbles
Overall impression: I’m not impressed with the effect that I’m able to create

Colors by Llarowe meets Dance Legend’s Spot It

Colors by Llarowe meets Dance Legend’s Spot It
-      In a stamped marble mani

I am always intrigued when new types of polishes show up on the market. Spot It is Dance Legend’s fairly new line of polishes. They’re supposed to be acting a bit like crackles – just with bubbles (or spots) instead. I have bought two of them, a red and a white. I have already tried the white but I didn’t quite get the desired effect: Check this post out to see how that experiment went. Back then I tried “Spot It” on tacky polish but I have now seen videos where the effect show up when you apply it to wet polish so that’s what I tried today.

I used three polishes: Colors by Llarowe “Living on Borrowed Time” and “Healing Waters” and of course Dance Legend “Spot it 02 White”. I made a few drips of each polish on my silicone mat, drew a few lines in the polish with a thin dotting tool, dipped my stamper in the mix and transferred it onto my nails.

Did it work? Not really. I mean, the colours work really well together but I didn’t get the desired bubbly effect on my nails. I had a bit of the effect on the mat so the polish works, but it doesn’t really count when it’s not on the nails :D

Here’s the final mani including a layer of topcoat. I am holding Healing Waters on this picture.

I really like the mix of colours. I’m holding Living on Borrowed Time on this picture.

Here are the three polishes I used.

I am not giving up. I want to make Spot It work. I just need to play with it more. Any tips will be highly appreciated, thank you.

El Corazón ~ 429/938 and Dance Legend ~ Spot it 02: White

El Corazón ~ 429/938
Deep pink shimmer

And

Dance Legend ~ Spot it 02: White
White “bubble” polish

El Corazón 429/938 is from the Japanese Silk collection from winter 2016.

The formula is lovely and easy to work with. It covers really well too. I used two coats for my mani and the drying  time was good. The polish is a little bit prone to brush strokes, but I don’t mind that at all. No, honestly :)

Here’s two coats and no topcoat.

I bought one of Dance Legend’s “Spot it”-polishes. They’re like crackles but with “bubbly” effect instead. I don’t quite know how to use it, so I just applied a layer over the pink. It may not be the right way to do it because I didn’t have much of an effect.

Here’s the result:

I tried to make a red dot and then while that was still wet to dot some white in the middle of it. That didn’t give much of an effect either.

Here are the polishes.

I need to figure out how to actually use the bubbly polish because it looks like so much fun. The pink was tacky when I applied the white and the brush actually picked a lot of the pink up, which isn’t desirable. Perhaps I try it on my silicone mat next, just to see if I can get the effect there, and then transfer it onto my nails.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Good basic polish for glitter or nail art
