Literary Lacquer: Rare Book Room

Literary Lacquer: Rare Book Room
Brown linear holo with added extra sparks

Today's polish was a part of a subscription box called "The Holo Grail", and was released in April 2014. That was a lovely subscription box because all of the polishes in the box were holographic. The only reason that "Rare Book Room" has been sitting in the box of untrieds for over six years is because it's brown. I love the brand Literary Lacquers and the holo effect of "Rare Book Room" is absolutely awesome. My only problem with the polish is that it's brown - which is not my favourite colour.

The formula is a crelly and I used three coats for full opacity. The drying time was really good.

I applied a butterfly sticker onto two of my nails and made two dots on the remaining three nails. Then I sealed it up with topcoat and took my photos.

Here's the final result.

I would have absolutely loved this polish if it had been any other colour than brown.

Here is "Rare Book Room" alone, three coats. Look at those lovely rainbows.

And here are the things I used today. The gold that I used for the dots is El Corazón's stamping polish "Fragrant Mimosa".

"Rare Book Room" was limited edition and is no longer available.

Drying time: Really good
Finish: Beautiful strong linear holo
Overall impression: Really nice rainbows. Not a fan of the colour.
Buy again: No, because it's brown

Literary Lacquers ~ This Dish Is Cheap Yet Tasty

Literary Lacquers ~ This Dish Is Cheap Yet Tasty
Magenta linear holo

"This Dish Is Cheap Yet Tasty" is from "Polish Pickup" from October 2019. It's right up my alley - if I could wear only one colour polish ever again, it would most likely be a magenta linear holo!

Literary Lacquers is inspired by the urban legend of someone who had Chinese characters tattooed on her that didn't mean quite what she thought.

The formula is on the thick side but easy to work with nonetheless. It covered perfectly in two easy coats and the drying time is really good.

The stamp is from the stamping plate "Mezerdoo31" and I stamped with a metallic pink from Colour Alike called "We Can Boogie".

This is the final result including a layer of topcoat.

Oh yes, I love this!!

Literary Lacquers ~ Lettie’s Ocean

Literary Lacquers ~ Lettie’s Ocean
Described as soft turquoise holo with holo sparkle

Lettie’s Ocean is a part of the Ocean at the End of the Lane Trio released in Summer 2017. I got my bottle from my dear friend Carolyn.

I used two easy coats for full opacity and the drying time is good.

The stamp is from the stamping plate Mezerdoo9 and I stamped with two stamping polishes from El Corazón: Restless Night and Midnight Tango. It’s stamped in one go, and I am so happy with how it turned out.

This is the end result, including topcoat. This photo is taken with flash.

Lettie’s Ocean looks like this on its own. This is two coats and no topcoat yet. It’s a really lovely blue shade and I love the holo sparkle!

This is the stuff I used to create my manicure.

This is a really nice polish which I am happy to enrol in my collection of pretties. Big thanks to my friend!

Glittering Elements ~ Oogie Boogie

Glittering Elements ~ Oogie Boogie
Slime green with subtle holo effect

Oogie Boogie is from Glittering Elements’ A Nightmare before Christmas collection from Autumn 2015.

The formula is a bit sheer which is unusual for Glittering Elements polishes. I used three coats for my mani, and the drying time between the layers was pretty good.

This is what three coats and no topcoat looks like with flash:

The low light picture for you:

I made dots on it. I used Literary Lacquers’ Lake of Shining Waters and OPI’s DS Radiance for that purpose.

Here’s my final mani after topcoat:

This is the low light picture.

Here are the polishes I used:

I’ll be honest with you: I wasn’t completely happy with this. I wish I had chosen other polishes for the dots. The contrast isn’t big enough in my opinion.
