Lilypad Lacquer ~ Chip Off The Old Hollyhock ~ Faded!

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Chip Off The Old Hollyhock ~ Faded!

Originally described as vivid fuchsia crelly base with a scattered holographic effect as well as iridescent flakes mixed in

I went through one of the drawers in my Helmer the other day. I looked at the pretty polishes and enjoyed their beauty. I found a polish that I didn't recognize: "Chip Off The Old Hollyhock", which was a store exclusive for Color4Nails in 2017. I bought my bottle in 2018 and showed in on my blog in March 2018. Click here to be taken to the blogpost.

Back then I thought that the polish was more coral than fuchsia and I wondered why my bottle was so different than what I saw on swatches. Now I know what was wrong: "Chip Off The Old Hollyhock" is a fader.

My polish has now changed colour completely. From a bright coral it has now turned into a burnt orange.

This is what it looks like now with flash:

There are still rainbows and flakies.

Here it is under a lamp. The flakies seem to have faded too!

And here's the same thing under a lamp.

I must admit that I'm disappointed to see a polish fade that much. I have so much polish that I have to trust that they somewhat stay the same colour as time go by.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Linear holo with flakies
Overall impression: Well. I liked it the first time around. Now, not so much.
Buy again: Not in a million years

Color Club ~ Is It Love Or Luster? plus a bonus comparison with Halo-Graphic

Color Club ~ Is It Love Or Luster? plus a bonus comparison with Halo-Graphic
Pink linear holo with a metal finish

“Oh the Irony” is the Fourth polish I show you from Color Club’s new “Halo Chrome”-collection. It’s a collection of six polishes, of which I bought five. I’m going to show you the last one I bought tomorrow, and I’m going to link to them all by the end of each post as I publish them.

The formula is good and I achieved full coverage is two coats. The drying time is really good.

I stamped on it. I used a stamping plate called XY-E01 and I stamped with Colour Alike’s stamping polish “B. a Rainy Mood”. I topped the entire thing with topcoat.

Here’s my manicure photographed with flash.

Here’s a photo taken in daylight, no sun. I really like this.

Here’s “Is It Love or Luster?” alone; two coats and no topcoat photographed with flash. The rainbows are so pretty!

Here are the things I used today.

I decided to compare “Oh The Irony” with “Halo-Graphic”. They’re both pink so I thought I’d check if they were dupes.

Here are the bottles side by side. It’s “Oh The Irony” to the left.

Here they are again. The holo effect is way stronger in “Halo-Graphic”.

This is what they look like side by side. This is a flash picture. It’s still “Oh The Irony” to the left. “Halo-Graphic” isn’t as dark as “Oh The Irony” and the holo effect is way stronger in “Halo-Graphic”.

This picture is taken in daylight to show you that the colours are not the same at all. Conclusion: They are not dupes.

Color Club ~ Oh the Irony plus a bonus comparison with Crystal Baller

Color Club ~ Oh the Irony plus a bonus comparison with Crystal Baller
Blue linear holo with a metal finish

“Oh the Irony” is the third polish I show you from Color Club’s new “Halo Chrome”-collection. It’s a collection of six polishes, of which I bought five. I’m going to show you all five of them, and I’m going to link to them all by the end of each post as I publish them.

The formula is good and I achieved full coverage is two coats. I had really hoped that these polishes were one coaters like lots of the other polishes in Color Club’s “Halo Hues”-collections. The drying time is really good.

I made a simple lacy stamp on it. I used a stamping plate called XY-E01 and I stamped with El Corazón’s white stamping polish. I topped the entire thing with topcoat, which unfortunately smeared the stamp on my middle finger.

Here’s my manicure photographed with flash.

Here’s a photo taken in daylight, no sun. This is the nicest of the “Halo Chromes” I’ve tried so far. The rainbows wanted to play in all lightings.

Here’s “Beg, Borrow and Steel” alone; two coats and no topcoat photographed with flash. I love the rainbows!

Here are the things I used today.

Color Club ~ Oh the Irony

“Oh The Irony” made me think of another Color Club polish, namely “Crystal Baller”. I decided to compare the two.

Here are the bottles side by side. It’s “Oh The Irony” to the left.

Here they are again. The holo effect is maybe a fraction stronger in Crystal Baller.

This is what they look like side by side. This is a flash picture. There’s not much of a difference and I can see a difference at all when I look at them in real life. It’s still “Oh the Irony” on the left.
