Lilypad Lacquer ~ Chip Off The Old Hollyhock ~ Faded!

Lilypad Lacquer ~ Chip Off The Old Hollyhock ~ Faded!

Originally described as vivid fuchsia crelly base with a scattered holographic effect as well as iridescent flakes mixed in

I went through one of the drawers in my Helmer the other day. I looked at the pretty polishes and enjoyed their beauty. I found a polish that I didn't recognize: "Chip Off The Old Hollyhock", which was a store exclusive for Color4Nails in 2017. I bought my bottle in 2018 and showed in on my blog in March 2018. Click here to be taken to the blogpost.

Back then I thought that the polish was more coral than fuchsia and I wondered why my bottle was so different than what I saw on swatches. Now I know what was wrong: "Chip Off The Old Hollyhock" is a fader.

My polish has now changed colour completely. From a bright coral it has now turned into a burnt orange.

This is what it looks like now with flash:

There are still rainbows and flakies.

Here it is under a lamp. The flakies seem to have faded too!

I must admit that I'm disappointed to see a polish fade that much. I have so much polish that I have to trust that they somewhat stay the same colour as time go by.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Linear holo with flakies
Overall impression: Well. I liked it the first time around. Now, not so much.
Buy again: Not in a million years

  1. Pffft that sucks! Never known a polish to fade before. Not keen on the faded version - too brown...though it has a nice holo effect!

I have been going through my drawers too and finding dried out polishes, gonna have to try and save them so they can be blogged then binned. Must be blogged before binned huh!

    1. They definitely must be blogged before binned! My untrieds don't get to live in the drawers - they only come to the drawers when tried and blogged. Until then they live in the infamous box of untrieds :D

  2. Ow, that`s weird, I think I`ve never had a polish that faded. It was nice when it was new, but now it doesn`t look good.

    1. I've had a couple that faded but this is the one that changed the most by far!

  3. Well, I guess that it could be used anyway, sometimes... But it really looks weird when you see the photos of the "original" colour and faded colour one next to the other, it completely changed colour, incredible...!

    1. It's really incredible. I'm not crazy about the colour it faded into, so it's probably going to the box of shame instead.
