Pure Ice: French Twist

Pure Ice: French Twist
Blackened base with blue glitter and hexes

I don't buy many black or blackened polishes. I really like the look of black polish on others, but not so much on my own nails. The blue glitter in "French Twist" was too pretty to give a miss though.

I used three coats for my nails today. I could have layered it over black but I wanted as much glitter on my nails as possible. The drying time was good.

I applied a star onto each nail and then topped the whole thing with a glitter polish from Depend: #335.

Here's what it all looks like in the sun:

And here's the same thing under a lamp.

This is "French Twist" on its own; three coats and a layer of topcoat.

Here are the things I used today.

I really like the look of "French Twist" but it is too black for me. The blue glitter is stunningly beautiful though.

Number of coats: 3
Drying time: Good
Finish: Blackened jelly with glitter and hexes
Overall impression: I love the glitter and hexes. The blackened base isn't quite me

Pure Ice ~ Shimmer Wing

Pure Ice ~ Shimmer Wing
Iridescent shimmer toppers

I was originally in the mood for a multichromatic manicure, but I changed my mind after I had prepared my nails by painting them black. I decided to try out some iridescent shimmer toppers my friend Carolyn bought me a long time ago!

Let me show you how it all ended out:

I used three of the Shimmer Wing-toppers for this manicure:

Shimmer Wing Rose: Golden iridescent shimmer
Shimmer Wing Jasmin: Pink iridescent shimmer
Shimmer Wing Iris: Blue iridescent shimmer

I sponged the shimmer on and sealed the whole thing up with a layer of topcoat.
Note to self: Buy better sponges. This one dissolved after a while, and left little bit of sponge on the nails. Grr!!

Here are the polishes I used.

OPI: Never have too mani friends;
Pure Ice: Shimmer Wing Rose, Shimmer Wing Jasmin, Shimmer Wing Iris

I was actually sure that I received four Shimmer Wings back then, but I looked high and low and only found these three. I think they are really pretty together and I’ll definitely do this again. I did consider to stamp over it, but I didn’t know which colour to stamp with. My boyfriend stated that it would be a shame to stamp over it.

Number of coats: N/A
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Iridescent shimmer-toppers
Overall impression: Great effects, all of them

El Corazón ~ m&s-164

El Corazón ~ m&s-164
Magenta packed with shimmer, silk effect

M&S-164 is from El Corazón’s Matte&Shine series. Before I actually bought some of the polishes I didn’t quite understand how a polish could be both matte and shiny. But these polishes can. They dry up to a silky smooth finish and the shimmer makes them shine. So yes, they are indeed both matte and shiny.

The formula is really good. I remember these as being tricky to apply because they dry super fast. But either this colour is different or my application skills has improved since then :D Either way the coverage is really good and you could easily get away with one coat. I used two because that is why I prefer.
The drying time is super fast.

Here’s what two coats and no topcoat look like:

I think this polish is super beautiful.

I applied a layer of Out the Door’s Northern Lights, a holo glitter topcoat, and then I stamped on it. I found my motiv on the stamping plate UR Beautiful-14 and I stamped with a deep purple polish from Pure Ice called Last Chance. I sealed the whole thing up with a layer of Moyra’s stamping topcoat.

Here’s my final mani:

And here are the polishes and the stamping plate I used.

I actually expected the Pure Ice polish to be way more visible on the El Corazón. But having said that: I like subtle stamping. How about you?

Number of coats: 2, but you can get away with 1
Drying time: Super fast
Finish: Matte shimmer
Overall impression: Great polish, great colour, I love it

Pure Ice ~ Speechless & Last Chance along with El Corazón m&s-172

Pure Ice ~ Speechless & Last Chance along with El Corazón m&s-172
A kitchen sink bunnyrabbit mani

I love kitchen sink manis. It’s a mani where all or at least most of the nails have different designs and/or techniques. I think they’re awesome, I just do them way too seldom.

But today I did one! I bought some really cool bunny-studs on evilBay, and I wanted to use them straight away.

This is the mani I ended up with:

Cool, yes?
The pink is Pure Ice Speechless, the purple is Pure Ice Last Chance. Two great polishes, and I used two easy coats of each here. The white is my to go white for nail art: El Corazón’s m&s-172.

I made two stripes on the pinkie, made pink stripes on the ring finger before I attached the bunny. The middle finger has brush strokes, and the pointer has got two dots. There’s white underneath the pink dots – the purple is too dark for the pink to work on top of it alone.

Here are the three polishes I used:

I love it. My boyfriend likes the simplicity of the pointer – which one is your favourite?

Number of coats: 2
