Douglas ~ Funambule

Douglas ~ Funambule
Dark fuchsia with pink shimmer

I love colours like "Funambule". Fuchsia is my to to-colour when it comes to nail polish and I am really fond on shimmery polishes.

The formula is good and I used two easy coats for full opacity. The drying time is good.

The decoration on my ring finger is a water decal. The silver glitter on the other nails is a glitter from H&M called "Silver Frost". It's from an old Snow White collection.

Here's what it all ended up looking like.

I like this combination a lot!

This is "Funambule" alone; two coats and no topcoat yet. Isn't that shimmer just gorgeous!?

I love the final result, even though I wasn't that crazy about the water decal. I think it's too big for my nail so I actually threw the rest of them away...

Douglas ~ Red Chic

Douglas ~ Red Chic
Red with pink shimmer

Here's another polish from my latest holiday. It is from Douglas and I was so lucky that it was half price, yay!

The formula is good and the polish covers in two easy and fast drying coats.

The stamp is from Born Pretty's stamping plate "BP-L003", which is probably the stamping plate I've been using the most over the years. The designs on that plate are so beautiful! I stamped with a pink stamping polish that hasn't got a name on the bottle.

Here's the final result, including a layer of topcoat. This is taken in daylight.

This is the same thing under a lamp. I tried to show of the shimmer. It shows mostly in the bottle, haha! :D

Here's "Red Chic" alone; two coats and no topcoat. Here you can see the shimmer better.

Lastly: Here are the things I used today.

I really wanted to love this but I grew tired of it during the day. I topped it with holo glitter and that helped a lot. I love glitter!

Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Beautiful colour and great formula

Depend ~ Once Upon A Time #5069

Depend ~ Once Upon A Time #5069
Silver/Taupe prismatic holo and silver glitter

Here’s the last sister in the “Once Upon a Time”-collection from Depend. It’s a lovely collection of prismatic glitters.

#5069 is taupe. It’s not a colour I buy much but I like it as a base for nail art.
The polish is easy to work with and it covers in two coats. The drying time is really good and the glitters dry completely flat, no bumpiness at all, just like the other three I’ve tried so far.

I made a dry brush manicure out of it. I used a dark blue shimmer polish from Douglas called “Lara” and a lovely red shimmer from OPI called “You Only Live Twice”.

I topped it all with a layer of “Northern Lights” holo glitter topcoat from Out the Door.

This is how it all ended up looking like in the sun:

I like the way this ended up.

This is #5069 alone. Two coats and no topcoat. It’s a sunshine picture.

And here are all the polishes I used today.

I actually thought this was silver when I bought it, but I quite like this as my base.

Here are the links to the other sisters in the collection:

Douglas ~ Lucia 04

Douglas ~ Lucia 04
Blackened purple with shimmer

I showed you “Lara 11” yesterday and today it’s time to show Lara’s sister. Like I said, I bought these two polishes years ago, when I still wore really dark colours. Today I prefer brighter and not so dark polishes, which is why these two polishes have waited so long to be worn.

Lucia 04 has also got a really good formula and is also easy to work with. I used two coats for my manicure and the drying time is good.

I used this dark “canvas” to check out an elder Darling Diva, which has also been waiting in the box for a while. I’m talking about “Tilasha (H)”, which is described as a mix of blue to red shifting multichrome flakies with holo effect. I’m not quite sure I see it as blue to red, but never mind, it’s a really pretty topper.

I used one coat of ”Tilasha” over ”Lucia 04” – I topped it with topcoat and this is what it all ended up looking like in daylight.

Douglas: Lucia 04; Darling Diva: Tilasha (H)

This is “Lucia 04” alone. It’s two coats and a thin layer of topcoat photographed in the evening sun. You can see a bit of the shimmer. It’s only visible in the sun.

I wouldn’t wear Lucia 04 on its own – it’s too dark for that, but I can easily see myself wear it as a base for nail art. I think both the sisters might water marble too, so I’ll try that out as well.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Very dark with subtle shimmer
Overall impression: Really good quality, easy to work with
Buy again: Probably not, it’s too dark for me, but that’s not the polish’s fault
