Pahlish ~ Whiskey from a Bottle of Wine

Pahlish ~ Whiskey from a Bottle of Wine
Purple shimmery linear holo

I love purple holos and Whiskey from a Bottle of Wine looks stunning in the bottle. It doesn’t quite transfer onto the nails though, which is a shame!

I used two coats and the drying time is good.

Here’s what it looks like taken with flash:

It’s as if the polish is paler on the nails than in the bottle.

It gets even worse if I turn off the flash!

I added stamping to it, to give it some contrast. I found a nice motif on Moyou London’s stamping plate Pro Collection-15, and I stamped with a dark purple no name polish called “Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees”. It’s not the OPI one, it’s a fake one I bought a long while ago. It’s so fake it’s even in a NOPI bottle, haha. I love it to bits though – I only use it for stamping and I’ll be very sad when it’s all gone.

Anyway, here’s my final mani:

And a no flash picture:

Yes, that’s me, I like this after the stamping came on.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Food
Finish: Shimmery holo
Overall impression: I love the rainbows, but the colour itself is a bit too pale for me

Spell Polish ~ Tongue of Dog

Spell Polish ~ Tongue of Dog
Described as Periwinkle Blue duochrome with a strong Red-Violet color shift and tiny Pink sparkles

Here’s my last Spell Polish for now, Tongue of Dog. I might as well say right away that I don’t agree with the colour description. To me this is periwinkle for sure, but I don’t see any strong colour shift. Allow me to demonstrate in a moment.

The formula is good – Spell Polish has stepped up the Indie Ladder in my opinion, and that’s just great. It took two easy coats to make this opaque and the drying time is good.

Take a look at two coats and a thin layer of Poshé topcoat:

See? No strong colour shift and I don’t see pink sparkles either. And just for the record: I didn’t see them in real life either. But nonetheless: It’s a really pretty colour.

Here’s a flash picture. It reveals a few sparkles, but they sure look blue and not pink to me.

I decided to keep my nail art really simple. I dotted the tips of my nails with a funny polish I bought in Slovakia last year. It’s from Gabrially Salvete and it’s called Galaxy. Another layer of Poshé topcoat and my mani was done:

I quite like these two polishes together!

Every bottle of Spell Polish comes with a little card with a rhyme on. Here’s the card that came with Tongue of Dog:

I like. Do you?

Spell Polish ~ Eyes of Newt

Spell Polish ~ Eyes of Newt
Vibrant cyan metallic blue with holo effect

I might as well show you another Spell Polish now we’re at it. Today it’s the really lovely looking Eyes of Newt that’s going to shine on my nails.

The formula is good and the polish is easy to apply. It took two coats to achieve full opacity. The drying time is good, no worries there.

Here’s what two coats and no topcoat looks like taken with flash:

It’s described as a linear holo but I’m not sure I quite agree. It’s pretty nonetheless.

The colour is also pretty in lower lights, that’s always a bonus.

I doodled on it, just to see how that went. I used a white polish from Savina called French White and I doodled with a toothpick I sealed it up with a layer of topcoat before I took my pictures:

There are girls that make it look ridiculously easy to do freehand nail art. I’m not one of them, haha! I think it went okay but I won’t lie and say it was easy! :D

Win. Win. Win. I like this!

Spell Polish ~ Adder’s Fork

Spell Polish ~ Adder’s Fork
Burgundy pink linear holo with chrome effect and a splash of pink flakies

My collection of Spell polishes is slowly growing. Today I’m going to try the first holo I’ve got from Spell Polish! I am so curious to see if it’s any good!

The formula is great, the best of the Spells I’ve experienced so far. It covers really well, and it’s almost a one coater. The second coats does make a bit of a difference though, so that’s what I recommend. The drying time is good.

Take a look at what two coats and a thin layer of Poshé topcoat look like:

I’m not sure that I agree that this is a linear holo, but I do like the holo shimmer that’s added. It makes such a pretty rainbow effect!

This is what it looks like in low lights:

I stamped on it. I found a floral motif from Qgirl008 and I stamped with a silver polish from Kiko’s Mirror collection called 616. I topped it with another layer of Poshé topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I was all “meh” in the beginning, but this mani really grew on me quickly!

A2Z Challenge: M is for Multi coloured

Multi coloured – I knew I wanted an in your face-mani for multi coloured! So I dived into the drawers and dug out three classic neons from Color Club: Otherworldly, Ultra-Astral and You got Soul-Ar. They’re all from the Starry Temptress collection from summer 2011.

Otherworldly is blue, Ultra-Astral is pink and You got Soul-Ar is orange.
I used NailNation 3000’s Carpe Diem as my base colour – it’s a very light grey crème – perfect for when you don’t want plain white. I spread the three neons with my dotting tool, just random blops on each nail. I topcoated the entire thing to seal it up, and here’s my final mani:

It almost ended up like neon-camouflage, if such a thing would even make sense, haha!

Here’s one last picture to brighten up the day :D

The pretty polishes lined up.

The Color Clubs really enjoyed shining on the blog again and I enjoyed wearing them! Color Club was one of the brands that made me fall in love with polish again, so they’ll always have a special place in my heart.

The challenge next week is New. I haven’t quite figured out what to do yet, but I’ll come up with something so stay tuned.

Morgan Taylor ~ Just for the Occasion

Morgan Taylor ~ Just for the Occasion
Blackened purple base with magenta shimmer

Just for the Occasion is from the Home for the Holidays collection from Christmas 2014.

This polish is amazing! The formula is great and if you’re careful you can get away with one single coat. I did two because that’s the way I roll, haha! The drying time between the coats is really good.

Here’s two coats of the vampy Christmas-polish:

Take a look at that shimmer! Isn’t it just great?!

I added holo. One coat of my favourite holo topper: Rainbow Syrup from Ellagee. It dulled the underneath colour a bit, it’s the first time I experience that. Never mind – it’s still pretty:

I should have stopped right there, but unfortunately I didn’t. I made the mistake of putting dots on it. First I made silver dots with HD from Milano. After that I made smaller blue dots on the biggest silver dots. I used Morgan Taylor’s Rhythm and Blues for that. A layer of topcoat finished the whole thing off, and here’s the final result.

Here’s a low light picture:

And the polishes:

I didn’t like this at all. I looked at it for a couple of hours and then I took it all off again.

Number of coats: 2 (but 1 is enough)
Drying time: Really good
Finish: Shimmer!
Overall impression: Now that’s a really nice shimmer

Colors by Llarowe ~ The Man in the Red Suit

Colors by Llarowe ~ The Man in the Red Suit
Cherry red linear holo

I’m in a red kind of a mood today, and I checked out my boxes of untrieds to see if there should be a red that fitted my mood. There was! I found The Man in the Red Suit, which is from Llarowe’s Christmas collection 2013! So yes, it’s been sitting unnoticed in the box for over a year, poor little polish!

The formula is great and application was really easy. This is practically a one coater! I used two coats, both out of habit but also because that’s the way I roll, haha! The drying time between the coats is good too.

Dudes and dudettes, this polish is an absolute beauty!

Two coats and no topcoat – flash picture:

The colour is amazing and the rainbows are stunning!

The polish is also beautiful in lower lights. This is where you can really see that this isn’t a true red. I love this colour!

I added more holo and some glitter too! I applied a thin stripe of glitter down the sides of my pinkie and my pointer. The glitter is from H&M and is called Silver Frost. On my ring finger and my middle finger I made candy cane stripes. I used striping tape and a silver holo from Urban Outfitters called Silver Holo. Great and very innovative name :D Here’s the final result:

Me and striping tape aren’t the best of friends. It’s such a hassle, but I admit that I like what you can actually do with it.

The polishes:

I love how this turned out. The Man in the Red Suit is a great polish and I really like how this mani came together.

Number of coats: 2 (but 1 was enough)
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Good
Finish: Linear holo
Overall impression: Amazing colour, great quality, fantastic rainbows.

Ellagee ~ Shop Stalker

Ellagee ~ Shop Stalker
Bright pink linear holo with shimmer

Shop Stalker is the last polish from the Shopping Madness Trio – a set of three polishes that Ellagee had for sale on Black Friday.

I usually save the best polish till last, but this time I just wore them in random order, because I seriously couldn’t pick a favourite of the three pretties!

So, the formula is good, no surprises there :D Two coats is what it takes and the trying time between the coats is good.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat:

Isn’t the colour just gorgeous!?

Low lights. Still pretty!

I made stripes on it! I used the two other polishes from the trio: Cartjacked, the blue, and F5! F5!, the purple. I applied a layer of topcoat to seal it all up – and here’s the final result taken with flash:

The flash overwhelms the purple somewhat, so here’s a low light picture for you:

I didn’t want to take this off!!

That’s the last post in the trilogy, I hope you enjoyed them all. Here the are:

Shop Stalker was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Ellagee ~ F5! F5!

Ellagee ~ F5! F5!
Purple linear holo with shimmer

F5! F5! is my second polish from the Shopping Madness Trio – a set of three polishes that Ellagee had for sale on Black Friday.

I didn’t experience any problems with the formula and I used two coats to achieve full opacity. The drying time is good.

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat:

Isn’t it just pretty??

I also like what it looks like in low lights!

I attached a stud by the base of each nail. I regretted the one I stuck onto my ring finger, because it’s way too big. But never mind – it didn’t outshine the pretty polish underneath!

Here’s the wheel full of nail studs.

I love F5! F5! The colour is gorgeous and the shimmer and shine divine. Welcome to my stash, little polish!

F5! F5! was limited edition and is now discontinued.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Holo and shimmer!
Overall impression: Great polish, nothing negative to report at all!
