Purple shimmer

I love nail polish that comes in special and/or pretty bottles. I admit that in the past I’ve bought polish just because of the bottle it came in. Today’s polish is such a polish. The bottle from Anna Sui is shaped as Minnie Mouse, and it’s absolutely adorable.

The formula is not fantastic though. The first coat went on streaky, and I had to be careful with the second coat to even out all the irregularities. The drying time was average. The polish itself is beautiful.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat:

I added a flakie/holo topper from Darling Diva called Hellea (H). That’s a Turquoise to Pink to Purple flakie with holo goodness added.

I applied one layer of Hellea over the Anna Sui and ended up with this mani:

I snapped a flash picture too, just to see the pretty holo-ness.

I usually always buy polishes in pairs, but this bottle was rather expensive and there were none of its sisters that spoke to me, and I didn’t want to buy expensive polishes I didn’t actually like, pretty bottle or not.

So tell me: Do you ever buy polishes because of the bottles they come in? If yes, please tell me which? :)

Overall impression: Not the greatest quality, but the shimmer is nice

Berry red linear holo

Hellraiser is from the Hellraiser collection from Autumn 2015. It’s red, it’s holographic, it’s fabulous – no less!

Two easy coats is what it took to get rid of any visible nail line. The drying time is good, in fact, there are no issues to report at all.

Here it is. Two coats and no topcoat taken with flash.

Look at that holo flame, isn’t it amazing?!

The polish is also beautiful in low lights. This picture reveals that it’s not a true red, but I don’t mind, I still love it.

I found a stamping motif that wouldn’t cover up too much of the polish on Moyou London’s stamping plate Fashionista Collection-13. I stamped with Kiko #616 from the Mirror collection. That entire collection is fantastic for stamping!

Lilac/grey with holo shimmer

I think it was hard to describe the colour of this polish. It’s grey, but it’s got a lilac tone too and when I look at the bottle it looks as a colour shifter. I can see both purple and green/gold in the bottle. Those colours didn’t show up on my nails though.

I used two easy coats for my mani. The drying time is relatively slow.

I made stripes on my pointer and my pinkie and added stars on the remaining nails. I topped it all with topcoat and here’s my final mani taken with flash:

 

I wanted it simple and I really like the way the grey/lilac loves the black addition.

Here’s what it looks like in lower lights.

It’s not very often I wear grey, but I must admit that I really like this. I imagine this polish would be cool as an effect polish over a base colour so I’ll definitely try that out shortly.

I'm a Christmas Winner!

Merry Christmas everybody! 

Today is the day we celebrate Christmas here. I'm having my family over and we'll be eating Christmas dinner together and after that there'll be handed out presents. Oh how I love presents!! 

And speaking of presents: I was so lucky to win Maria's giveaway recently, and guess what! The prize arrived yesterday! It definitely felt like an extra Christmas present right there ^_^

"What was it?", you might ask yourselves. I won a €50 voucher for DesigGlassware by Mont Bleu. Amazing, right? They sell nail files, nail clippers and pretty jewelry with Swarovski crystals. It took a long time for me to pick the prize! 

Here's what I picked:

A set of three glass nail files; small, medium and large. I can't wait to try them.

 A nail clipper with swarowski crystals. And yes, I do clip my nails before I file them.

A Ring  called "Aurora Boreale", that changes colours like crazy. It's beautiful!

In a gradient

I really like gradients, but I do them way too seldom. I think it’s because they often don’t end up like I imagined them. But never mind – I’ll do one today!

First I painted my nails with a layer of Window to my Soul, which is a magenta holo with color-shifting and pink shimmer. It’s a part of the Mysterious Vanishing Pigments Collection which is a limited edition collection. Then I made my gradient with that and Mom Jeans. Mom Jeans is denim blue linear holo with gold flake and is from the Oh, Baby! collection.

Do you like it? The stamp is from BondleMunster’s BM-407.

Here is the low light picture. You might be able to see some of the gold flakies in Mom Jeans on my middle finger, if you observe carefully.

Here’s the gradient before I stamped on it.

Once again I wasn’t quite happy with the gradient. The colours don’t blend enough where they meet. The stamp helped a great deal though.

Drying time: Really good

Finish: Linear holo (with shimmer / flakies)
Overall impression: Great polishes both of them
