CrowsToes ~ Heartless

CrowsToes ~ Heartless
A mix of holographic and deep berry micro glitters

I’m sure it’s obvious to everybody that I love glitters. And I am especially fond of glitters that are “real polishes” as opposed to glitter toppers. You know what I mean? 'Heartless' from CrowsToes is a real glitter polish, that doesn’t need underwear to work.

The formula is on the thick side, which is quite common for this type of glitter. When you pull the brush up, it’s simply loaded with the most gorgeous glitter. It’s easy to apply though, it dries fast - and it covers in two coats! That’s right – just two coats for make this baby shimmer and shine!

I might as well say right away that I had big problems catching this beauty on cam. It’s so beautiful that I wonder if it’s simply impossible to make it look as beautiful on pictures as it is for real. I made the attempt anyway – without pictures this would be the weirdest blogpost ever :D

So, here it is. Two coats of Heartless, a layer of Gelous and then a layer of H K Girl topcoat:

You can see a bit of the holo effect here – it’s sooo pretty:

I have to say that I seriously like berry coloured mix of glitters, it’s right up my alley!

I tried to take pictures from as many angles as I could come up with, in order to get some decent shots :D

Just a couple more – so I’m sure that you understand how much I like it!

One last picture out of many – just because I can!

CrowsToes could easily quickly become a favourite of mine. The formula is good, drying time is great, the colour is fabulous and the holo glitters just add that little extra that makes a polish spectacular.

Need I say more? I think not. I just love this polish!

Cuccio ~ Fountains of Versailles

Cuccio ~ Fountains of Versailles
Sea green shimmer with glass flecks

Cuccio is a new brand to me, even though the company has been in the beauty industry since the early 1980s. Fountains of Versailles is the type of polish I’d fall for any day. It’s sea green, it’s shimmery, there’s little glass flecks in it and the finish is almost foil-y. I find myself buying this sort of colour over and over again :D

Anyway – application was a breeze. The polish is well pigmented and if you’re in a hurry you can get away with one thick coat. I used two coats though, and the drying time was OK. I hadn’t got access to sunshine, so here’s what it looked like in daylight:

I love the look of the little flecks in there! Here’s another pic:

Sweet as!! That really shows the foil-y finish. Shiny, shimmery, beautiful!

I decided to stamp on it. I used Mash-39 for the fish/mermaid scales, and stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “ Jumpin’ Jade” to stamp with. For the dolphins I used Fauxnaud plate M71 and Kiko 616 from their Mirror Collection.
The topcoat is Poshé, my all time favourite. Here’s the final mani:

And one last look:

I love the way this turned out, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of buying this particular shade of polish.

One last note : this polish stained my fingers green-blue so much that I thought I’d grown Smurf hands!! Just saying, so that you’re not surprised
when your fingernails refuse to give up the hues.

So. What do you think, girls? Let me have your honest opinion in the comments below, please :)

Crowstoes ~ Morticia

Crowstoes ~ Morticia
Clear base packed with red, silver and black glitter bits in various shapes and sizes

I almost swooned when I saw this glitter bomb from Crowstoes. It’s red, black and silver, and it’s loaded with glitter!

I thought a lot about what colour to layer it over. Red is too obvious, and besides, I didn’t want the red glitters to drown. Silver would be too boring, and the same with black. I ended up choosing a fantastic purple from A England: Avalon. There’ll be a picture of that later in the post – but this is mostly about Morticia, so we’ll get to that later.

I only applied one coat of glitter. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a polish that was so well loaded with glitter. One dip in the bottle per nail and everything looked sweet. I actually think I could have worn this on its own in only two coats! Allow me to demonstrate what it looks like:

See what I mean? This is ONE coat of glitter over the purple.

There’s a lot going on there, don't you think? But definitely not too much if you ask me :)

You can see silver glitter and hexagons, red glitters, black bar glitters and hexagons. I’m totally overwhelmed by the glitters, and I can assure you that that doesn’t happen very often!!

Disco ball moment – that’s for sure!!

A closer look:

Here it is on a nail wheel. The red is A England “Perceval” and the purple is A England “Avalon”. That’s how I decided that purple was what I wanted. I actually ended up applying this glitter over my already red toenails, and it looks just great!

Here’s a bonus picture of A England Avalon. Isn’t this just a beautiful purple? It’s two coats, btw. Some people claim that it’s a one coater, but I think it needs two coats to present itself perfectly!

Here’s another bonus picture. It’s Morticia Addams (played by Anjelica Huston). I loved The Addams Family, and am a big Morticia fan!

I’d say that if you love red and black, and are a glitter fan like I am, then Morticia is a great buy. I promise that the glitters won’t disappoint you, they’re absolutely fabulous.

Girly Bits ~ Purple Potion

Sheer purple base with purple and holographic glitter

Purple Potion is from Girly Bits' “Sea's the Day” collection. It’s purple, it’s glittery and it’s got a holo effect. Sounds like a winner, eh? Let’s find out if it is!

The formula is good; the glitter spreads out evenly without much effort. Drying time is good on the first layer – and average on the following layers. I used three layers before I was satisfies with the look of it. It dries up semi matte – or “flat”, and slightly textured. Before the textured polishes got popular I wouldn’t even have considered showing it without a topcoat, but times surely has changed!

So here it is - three coats, no topcoat. All the pictures in the post were taken in direct sunlight:

Can you see the gritty effect? It’s not as textured as the liquid sands/sugar mattes, but it’s definitely related to them.

I really like both the look and the feel of this Purple Potion:

The polish is topcoat thirsty. It took two coats of H. K. Girl topcoat to smooth out the surface. And topcoat definitely makes the glitter come alive. Take a look at this:

On this picture you can see how the holo glitter flashes copper and fuschia. In real life it also flashes lots of other colours, like proper holo glitter does.

And here’s the blurred picture to show you the holo effect:

I really like this polish, and can get over the fact that I had to use three coats, even though I usually prefer polishes that cover in two, really. And behold! I liked this so much that I just left it like that!! I bet you’re as amazed as I am myself! I thought this was so pretty on its own that I couldn’t think of a way to make it even prettier! I am open to suggestions in the comments below if you can think of some nail art that would look cool on this!

Liquid Sky Lacquer ~ Teal it like it is

Liquid Sky Lacquer ~ Teal it like it is
Thermal scattered holo that shifts between light teal and blue

This is the first thermal polish I’ve ever had, and to be honest I didn’t even know that it was a thermal polish I had got my hands on.

The formula is good, and the polish applies easily. After I had applied the first coat I wondered, like, what the…? – it was as if it got very much lighter when I applied it. So – OK, I figured that a second coat would turn the polish on my nails into the colour in the bottle, but no. Then I applied a third coat, and even though it was opaque, it was still much lighter than in the bottle. So I went online to see if other bloggers had experienced the same thing, and that is when I realized that this wasn’t just an ordinary polish :D <slaps forehead> It changes colour with the temperature. When it’s warm, it’s a light teal colour and when it’s cold, it shifts into a darker blue. My hands are usually cold, but it’s warm here, so that’s why polish didn’t look like it does in the bottle. In fact: This is what it looked like:

The holo is scattered and not very strong, but I’m seriously fascinated by the colours! It almost looks like a gradient!

I went out into the bathroom to test the effect. I held my fingers under the cold water, and behold! Look at the pretty colour that showed up!

Yes, my fingers are wet! You know why! ;)

And this is what it looks like when my fingers are getting warm again – the colour changes from the top of the nails and downwards:

Almost back to normal temperature here:

This is a spectacular polish indeed. I haven’t got anything like it in my stash! I like the darker colour best, so I’m looking forward to wearing this in the winter, where my hands are permanently cold! :D

Great polish, great formula, great effect. It is a fun polish indeed! Coolio!

Giveaway Alert!

Hi girls!

I've been wanting to do this giveaway for quite a while now. I wanted to make it my 500 followers giveaway, but then Google discarded the Google reader, which means that the new followers don't follow via Google Friend Connect. I don't know why though, because I still follow via the blogs I read via GFC and haven't noticed any difference at all. But anyway - people have now started following via Bloglovin', which is perfectly fine for me too. The problem is that I lost count, and I don't want to wait any longer.

It's time to give back some love to all you girls who follow me and comment on my posts and make it worth blogging in the first place. Thank you so much to all of you. It means the world to me that you're here! ♥

Welcome to my "Approximately 500 followers Giveaway"!

I'm quite excited myself, and I hope you will be too!

I bought the prizes when I was in London during spring, so they're british polishes. I thought it was a good idea since some of them can be a bit tricky to get your hands on now.

Here's prize #1:

Invogue: Emerald Dust, Sophisticated, Hot Gossip and Domination
Invogue Matt Suedes! This is a fabulous set, I've got a set myself too. You can see swatches of the green one here, the purple one here and the pink one here. I haven't tried the grey one on yet, so... But check the others ones out, they're really cool polishes!

I've got a prize #2 too:

Models Own: Pinky Brown and Blooming Pink

Models Own makes such cool polishes. Great quality, cool colours. I don't have anything negative to say about this brand.

So, here are the rules:

The giveaway is open internationally, but if you run into problems with customs or confiscating or other unpleasant stuff, then it's your problem, not mine :)

And don't cheat. If you cheat, I will disqualify you and delete all your entries.

That's it! Simple eh? So now, do you what you have to do! ;)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Good luck, girls, and thanks again! ♥

Eva ~ 062 with Cuccio and Funky Finger stripes

Eva ~ 062
Pink scattered holographic

Cuccio ~ Brooklyn Never Sleeps
Purple with shimmer

Funky Fingers ~ Sand and Stilettos
Silver holographic glitter

So, this mani started out with a polish I received a while ago in a swap with my friend Anastasia, from Little World of Coloured Nails. It’s an Eva Mosaic Fashion Colour and it’s got number 062. It applies easily, and the glitter spreads out like a dream. Drying time is good, and the glitter dries up completely flat on the nails. So all the right boxes are ticked. It smells a little bit odd, but not so much that it actually bothered me. I used two coats. If this had been a polish I’d wear on its own, I would have used three. But I hardly ever wear one polish on its own, haha!

Here’s a picture of what two coats and no topcoat looks like. The picture is taken in the evening sunshine:

Then I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I took a striper and applied stripes on approximately 2 thirds of the nail. I used a new Cuccio polish I bought called “Brooklyn Never Sleeps”. It’s a deep purple that shimmers so beautifully in the bootle.

I was pleased with the result of my stripes. Take a look:

Isn’t that just cool? I really like it; it turned out exactly as I wanted it to, yay!!
Then I did the same thing with Funky Fingers’ “Sand and Stilettos”: I made lots of stripes on the bottom third of the nail. When it was dry I sealed my mani up with a layer of BK topcoat, and here’s what it ended up looking like:

And the sun decided to peek out from behind a cloud one last time before it went down completely. I took a quick picture:

I’m so glad that this mani turned out like I wanted it! I’m definitely going to do this again with other colours and finishes!

Do you like it??

Nailstation ~ Miss Precious

Nailstation ~ Miss Precious
Green metallic shimmer

It's time for a beautiful green shimmer! I loved it even before it touched my nails, haha!

The formula is good and easy to apply. I like the size of the brush, which is on the bigger size of normal, without being a really wide brush. It was opaque in two coats, but I had made it a bit brush-strokey, so I applied a third coat to even things out a bit. The fault was all mine, not the polish’s! Wow, this polish shines!

Take a look at three coats – no topcoat:

A closer look reveals the beautiful shimmer. You know I’m a sucker for a nice shimmer, and this polish has got it!

Some of the shimmer has actually got a blue tone to it, which only makes me like it even more :)

Is this pretty or what?

Here is how I actually wore it! I stamped with a black matte from Golden Rose with number 110 and used the stamping plate Apipila 01 for the design. A layer of Poshé topcat finished my mani:

Nailstation is a French brand, and I’m happy to enclose this new beauty in my stash of pretties. The colour is great both for summer and the darker season, the shimmer is fantastic. Add a great formula to that mix, and you’ve got a really good polish. Thumbs up from me.

Enchanted ~ Bruised Nutcracker

Enchanted ~ Bruised Nutcracker
Blue linear holo

Bruised Nutcracker is from Enchanted’s Ho ho holoday collection from the holiday season 2012. There are four polishes in the series, and this one is the prettiest by far. It’s also the only Enchanted polish I’ve got. I bought it in a blog sale, and was very happy when I opened the envelope. The polish is even prettier in real life than it is in pictures!

The formula is great! I used my regular base coat and had no problems with application. It gave me perfect coverage in two easy coats and drying time was really fast too. And the polish… oh, I can’t tell you how beautiful this polish is! You’re going to have to see for yourself:

Isn’t that just amazing?? I couldn’t stop taking pictures of this, the rainbows almost blinded me and the blue looks great both in and out of the sunshine.

Look at it from this angle:

Swoon-material, right?

I decided to do a bit of freehand nail art on it. I used Golden Rose Holiday #57, which is a deep magenta textured polish. I made a ring of five dots and made a white dot in the middle with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Whirlwind White. One coat of BK topcoat, et voilá: My mani is done:

Flowers on holo background in the sunshine! What more can a holo-lover ask?

I’m totally in love with this polish, and would love to have more of them. Unfortunately they aren’t that easy to get your hands on. There is a European store that sells them (Pshiiit boutique), but unfortunately they don’t ship to Denmark – which is really weird, in my opinion!

So for now I’ll have to do with having only one of the Enchanted gems in my collection. And I’ll keep stalking them blog sales to see if I should be lucky just one more time :D

Have you got any Enchanteds in your stash? Would you like to have?
