Girly Bits ~ Purple Potion

Sheer purple base with purple and holographic glitter

Purple Potion is from Girly Bits' “Sea's the Day” collection. It’s purple, it’s glittery and it’s got a holo effect. Sounds like a winner, eh? Let’s find out if it is!

The formula is good; the glitter spreads out evenly without much effort. Drying time is good on the first layer – and average on the following layers. I used three layers before I was satisfies with the look of it. It dries up semi matte – or “flat”, and slightly textured. Before the textured polishes got popular I wouldn’t even have considered showing it without a topcoat, but times surely has changed!

So here it is - three coats, no topcoat. All the pictures in the post were taken in direct sunlight:

Can you see the gritty effect? It’s not as textured as the liquid sands/sugar mattes, but it’s definitely related to them.

I really like both the look and the feel of this Purple Potion:

The polish is topcoat thirsty. It took two coats of H. K. Girl topcoat to smooth out the surface. And topcoat definitely makes the glitter come alive. Take a look at this:

On this picture you can see how the holo glitter flashes copper and fuschia. In real life it also flashes lots of other colours, like proper holo glitter does.

And here’s the blurred picture to show you the holo effect:

I really like this polish, and can get over the fact that I had to use three coats, even though I usually prefer polishes that cover in two, really. And behold! I liked this so much that I just left it like that!! I bet you’re as amazed as I am myself! I thought this was so pretty on its own that I couldn’t think of a way to make it even prettier! I am open to suggestions in the comments below if you can think of some nail art that would look cool on this!
