Golden Rose Holiday ~ #57 and Venique ~ Crushed Icicle

Golden Rose Holiday ~ #57
Deep magenta with pink shimmer – textured polish

When I received Golden Rose’s textured polishes in my latest swap with sweet Aylin from Posh Nail Art, there was one polish that almost jumped up into my hands by itself. Please don’t get me wrong: They’re *all* pretty. But #57 is just a little bit prettier than the rest of them, and it was obvious that I had to try that one on first.

I was also excited to see how Golden Rose would get away with making textured polishes. I’m a big fan of Golden Rose as a rule, and was curious if they could live up to my expectations.

The formula is great, and the coverage is even greater. I used two thin coats for complete coverage. Drying time is fantastic, also compared to other textured polishes I’ve tried. And the sparkle, it’s just “wow”! You don’t have to take my word for it. I didn’t have access to sunshine, but here’s a pic taken in ordinary daylight:

Is that amazing or what? I love that shimmer!!

Here’s a picture taken in my lightbox:

Not even the lightbox could tone the shimmer down. This polish is even prettier on the nails than in the bottle. Yay!

I decided to mix it up with a new polish I got from Canada, namely Venique “Crushed Icicle”. It’s not a brand I’m familiar with yet, but I know a great shimmer when I see one, and Crushed Icicle is such a shimmer.
I taped my nails vertically across and painted one thick layer of Crushed Icicle. I removed the tape right after having painted.

Then I wanted to even out the edges between the two polishes, so I applied one layer of H K Girl top coat. It didn’t smooth out the textured effect at all (back in the days before textured polishes, you would have said that it’s a top coat thirsty polish, haha!). Here’s a picture taken in daylight:

And here’s one from my lightbox:

This is my favourite textured polish already. I love it!
What do you think of textured polishes? Are they a hit or just a phase some of us are going through?

  1. Pretty polish, even though I'm not a huge fan of pink. But I do like it in combo with the blue :)

  5. Pretty colour! I have to say I'm not a fan of textured polishes myself although I do think they look good on other people. I may come around eventually though!

  7. I don't like a new tendency to textured polishes, they are quite rough to touch. But some of them looks interesting enough on other people.
What about your mani - I like this combination of colors, and colored sequins in pink polish looks amazing :)

    1. The textured polishes are actually quite different to the touch. Some are really rough and some are just a little bit bumpy. I prefer the last kind :)
