Color Club ~ Foil me once and Maybelline ~ Amethyst Ablaze

The challenges that I went through over the summer made me want to experiment more and make more nail art. It kind of triggered my urge to be more creative.

So – here’s something I wanted to try. I started out with Color Club’s “Foil me once”. I bought the entire Color Club “Foil” collection from autumn 2011 with stamping in mind. But I wanted to try them as “regular” polishes as well. So here’s one coat of “Foil me once”:

There was no sun, he hadn’t come out to play, so here’s an indoor shot. I’m very pleased that it covered so well in one coat; that is very promising for the stamping!

Then I taped my nails and painted a stripe of Maybelline’s “Amethyst Ablaze”. Amethyst Ablaze is also a one coater, and will also be used for stamping in future! I removed the tape immediately after painting the stripe, et voilá:

Then I took my black striper from Claire’s and framed the purple stripe with two black stripes. The contrast between the two base colours isn’t big enough in my opinion – I’ll try with another combination next time. But the black stripes helped a lot:

More stripes added – I used Color Club’s “Copper Chrome” striper. And then I sealed it all up with a coat of Sally Hansen’s Diamond Shine top coat. And here’s the final result:

Here are the polishes involved:

This isn’t exactly what I wanted, but it’s close. And after having gazed at it for a while, I got used to it, and started liking it :)  But what do you think? Do you think I should keep experimenting and try different things – bearing in mind that I’m going to post the fails as well? Give me your honest opinion, I’m a big girl and I can handle it.

  1. I like it! Although my personal preference was just the two purples together. But you should definitely experiment and show us everything you create :-)

    1. Thanks, that's nice to hear! I'm getting a bit disheartened when the ideas I have don't come out the way I want them to. But I'll continue working on it then, and keep posting :)
