Smitten Polish ~ The First
Lobster
Orange leaning red linear
holo
I didn’t buy The First Lobster originally because I thought that going
by the name it would be extremely coral and I’m not looking that good in
corals. Having seen a lot of pretty pictures of it on Facebook made me
reconsider though, and eventually I bought it.
The formula is just great, just like I’ve come to expect from Smitten’s
polishes. It took two coats to make it opaque and the drying time between the
coats was fast.
Here’s what The First Lobster looks like in the sunshine – two coats and
no topcoat:
Here it is in my lightbox, taken with flash:
It is quite mesmerizing, isn’t it?
This is what it looks like in lower lights. The rainbows are still
visible.
This was the last picture for today. I made a stripicure out of it, but
I couldn’t find a good colour for this base. I ended up choosing a purple, but
seriously: It looked like crap, so I’ll spare your eyes for that disaster. Good
idea, wrong colour scheme :D
Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Strong linear holo
Overall impression: The
holo effect is really good. The colour is a bit outside my comfort zone, but
sometimes it’s nice to be pushed a little
Buy again: Yes

ReplyDeleteIt's quite special, I must admit I like it! :)
DeleteNot really my shade either, but it IS pretty :) A lot :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased to hear that :)
DeleteI almost bought this quite a few times - but the fear of coral made me stop - but I see it is more of a burnt orange, if I'm not wrong...
ReplyDeleteMight have to re-consider ;)
It depends so much on the lightings. It's a little bit of everything :)
DeleteLooks like a rusty red. Just perfect for fall!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is :)
