SMYTC Challenge Day 4: Bells

Today’s challenge made me go hmm! Bells are usually yellow, and as some of you know: Yellow is not my favourite colour. But a challenge is a challenge, and yellow it’ll be.

I started out with two coats of China Glaze “Papaya Punch”, which is somewhere in between a dark yellow and a light orange. It’s from the Island Escape collection from summer 2011. The formula was on the streaky side, but I managed.

Two coats – no top coat:

I made a stripe across each nail with a black striper from Claire’s. I don’t have a photo of this step, but you’ll recognize it later on.

Then I dug out a polish that I bought when I started collecting nail polish. I must admit that I don’t know exactly why I bought it, but I think it was because I had just figured out that I really liked Color Club polishes. But it’s been sitting in my stash of untrieds ever since. I mean: It’s yellow! :D

I’m talking about “Turn the other Chic”, from the Pardon my French collection from spring 2010. I applied two layers over the China Glaze, and then I dotted a clapper on each bell with the black striper from Claire’s. Then I topped it with a generous coat of Seche Vite. And there you have it, ladies and gents: My bells:

I actually believe that the Color Club is more useful than I thought. The base is yellow, yes, but it would take a lot of layers to make it opaque. So I’ll try it out over some different colours, in order to make it feel more welcome in my stash.

It definitely looked cooler in my head than it actually does on my nails, but I guess that makes it a learning experience.

I don’t think I need a verdict this time. I’m only going to ask this: Can you actually see that it’s supposed to look like bells? :D
