Hi girls,
You've
been a great help before, and now I've got another question for you. I
bought a Color Club polish in a blog sale, a greyish glitter. I quite
like it!
But
it doesn't look like any of my other Color Club polishes at all. First
of all there's the height of the bottle. It's the polish on the left,
I'm talking about. The one on the right is "Magic Attraction".
You
can see that Magic Attraction is a fraction taller than the other one,
and the cap is matte, whereas the unnamed polish's cap is shiny.
And there's something else with the cap:
There's no flower on the left one!
Here are the polishes seen from the back:
Magic Attraction doesn't have any writing on the back at all. That's all in the bottom of the bottle:
And the left bottle doesn't have any writing at the bottom at all.
The
last thing that I've noticed is that the smell of the two is different.
Magic Attraction smells like any other Color Club polish I own. The
other one doesn't smell like it at all. It has a glue-ish smell to it.
Can
anybody help me out here? Have I got a fake bottle of Color Club, or
have I just gotten my hands on a polish that was sold as a set and
therefore different than their usual line?
I don't know a lot about Color Club but the smaller one has Forsythe stamped on it and that's the company that owns Color Club. Hopefully this helps.
ReplyDeleteThanks. At least that's a start that it's the same company :)
DeleteI dont know the name but i THINK it's a legit bottle. All of my bottles of CC (and i have about 50) are like yours with the matte cap and flower. But many I've seen on blogs look like the other one, I think they have two different bottles, the left one might be an older version.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I noticed it in the first place was because it didn't fit into the pattern with the rest of the Color Clubs.
DeleteI don't mind if it isn't legit, as long as it works :)
I have only one Color Club and that looks like your bottle on the right: matte cap, flower on the cap. I don't know much about them but I am sure the flower caped is legit I have no idea of the other one :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are flowers on the cap of all the rest of my Color Clubs as well. It is really weird that they changed that in collections.
DeleteThe Color Club on the left was part of a collection and sold in a set! Here's an example: http://www.abeautifulsecret.com/images/ColorClubStarryTemptress7Pack.JPG
ReplyDeleteUsually people find them at Ross or TJ Maxx on clearance for like, $7 a set. It looks like De-Luxe-Cious?
I have a few color club sets and they look exactly like that one! Hope I helped!

Thanks a lot, that sounds legit. Looking up swatches of De-Luxe-Cious it sure looks as if it's it. I bought it as "Unknown grey glitter" :D
DeleteThank you so much <3
I agree with Tami, I have a set of seven polishes like your left one, you can see it here: http://rainbows-and-blues.blogspot.com/2012/06/z-anno-ki-pise-blog-pretty-digits-sva.html
ReplyDeleteIt's on the bottom of my post. ;)
And I store those polishes in original box, so I didn't notice that caps were different before, but they don't have flowers on top as well! =) And mine don't even have labels on the back (nor sticker on the bottom). Totally empty and unnamed. And the smell - like glue. :) So I think your polish came from one of the similar sets. Oh, and my set is supposed to be the Glitter Vixen set, but polishes do not correlate with this collection at all. But I still love them!

Oh cool, then that's cleared up!
DeleteI find it very odd that sets that contain the "wrong polishes" are being sold. It surely can't be Color Club themselves that fuck up that badly?
And what's with the smell? Why don't they smell like all the other Color Clubs? I find that really weird!
Anyway - thanks for helping, and thanks for the links! :)
That's weird. Thanks for posting the question. I'm reading through others' answers, as well. Looks like your mystery has been cleared up! :-)

Yes, it's nice to get a little help with solving mysteries here and there :)
DeleteThe one on the left is from a set, it wont have a name and it will have a different lid. It is still authentic :)
ReplyDeleteI would have loved it even if it had been a falsie :) But thanks, it's really nice to know the origin :)
