Pure Ice ~ Super
Star
Burgundy with holographic micro glitter
I’ve been wanting to try out
Pure Ice for quite a while, so I was happy to find a bunch of them in a blog
sale :D
So: The formula was OK, but
the brush was very much on the thin side, which I don’t like. This makes it a
challenge for me to apply the polish evenly, so I ended up having to put on
three coats, which is really one too many, considering this is a dark and quite
well pigmented colour. A nicer (read ‘better’) brush would have prevented that
– it’s a shame that the product is sometimes let down by the simplest thing,
isn’t it. Anyhoo - the micro glitter made the polish dry up a bit gritty, but a
layer of top coat easily solved that problem.
Here is a pic of three
coats, no top coat yet:
And another angle, just because
I can:
I had this idea in my head
that involved sponging, so I grabbed my Color Club “Foil me once” from their
Foiled collected from autumn 2011. I *love* these foils for nail art.
I sponged with a make up
applicator diagonally on each nail. It’s looking a little bit random, but I
like it. Here’s that step – still no top coat:
Now it’s time for some
stamping. I picked a giraffe-ish pattern from Bundlemonster’s plate BM-313 and
used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Whirlwind White”. It’s the first time I’ve used
that for stamping, and it’s perfect!
Here’s the final result –
there’s one coat of my all time favourite top coat Poshé on top:
And a final pic, just
because I really like this end result!
I must say though, that I am
not hugely impressed with this Pure Ice polish. Three coats for a colour like
this is, as I said, at least one too many!

ReplyDeleteI agree - totally psychedelic :D
DeleteThis is super cute, great combination!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I was disappointed in the Pure Ice but I really like the final result :)
DeleteInteresting... I have a Pure ICE polish called Super Star, but it is a white creme! Haha. This one is really pretty, though!
ReplyDeleteThat's really odd that the same company calls two different polishes the same! :D And thanks! :)
DeleteReally cute final result! Sorry to hear that you need three coats for the Pure Ice. That's usually one coat too many for me, unless I think the color is amazing. :-)

That's exactly how I feel too. Two coats has to be enough, especially because I like layering and I don't want to end up with way too many layers! :)
DeleteGreat color combination!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Those Color Clubs are genius!
DeleteThose foils also stamp like mad! I have two just for that! I still need to try sponging. I'm stuck in a rut and need to expand my horizons
ReplyDeleteI bought these specifically for stamping, and because I *love* Color Club :)
DeleteI'd love to see you stamp, so yes please!!
These look really great ^_^
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, you know I appreciate it :)
DeleteYou're welcome :)
