Deep purple with indigo shimmer

7^th of December! Only two weeks till Christmas! 

Baptisia is described as a shimmery midnight indigo. It’s most definitely purple to me – but the shimmer is indigo, so perhaps it depends on what angle you see it from!

Anyway – application was a little bit tricky. The polish dries fast, so it was a challenge to work faster than I’m really comfortable with. It’s totally worth the extra effort though! The polish dries up a little bit dull, so I applied a layer of Poshé topcoat before I took my pictures. The pigmentation is good – I used two layers of polish to reach the desired result.

Enough talk; here’s what two layers of Baptisia and one layer of Poshé topcoat looks like:

Baptisia is – like many other purples – really hard to catch right in photos.

It turned up blue on the pictures, so I had to correct them into the colour I actually see on my nails. It’s definitely purple, isn’t it?

If I turn on my flash, you might be able to tell why people say it’s indigo. Look at the shimmer that turns up. It’s definitely blue!

I decided to stamp on it. I used a Moyou London stamping plate called Back to the 80’s-04 and I stamped with Color Club’s Angel Kiss from their Halo Hues collection. It’s a baby blue linear holo. Take a look at what that ended up looking like:

Pink scattered holo

Welcome to the 6^th of December!

Blurred Visible Nails Lines is a very pretty pink with a scattered holographic effect. It was inspired by the hot single by Robin Thicke called Blurred Lines.

I usually don’t like visible nail lines, and I can assure you that I didn’t experience it with this polish at all. It was in fact very well covering – the nail line was almost invisible-ized after the first coat. The second coat took care of the last bit of nail line. I used my regular base coat, and the polish glided on smoothly and effortlessly – no sign of dragging or bald spots at all. The drying time is really good too.

Let me show you how pretty this polish is – here’s two coats, no topcoat:

I can’t wear many pinks, but this actually leans magenta, and in all modesty: I think it looks great on me!

Flashing the rainbows:

Let me show you what this polish looks like without the flash. It’s obviously more muted, even though some of the rainbows actually also show up in low light.

I decided to keep it simple, so I just dotted two purple dots on each nail with Nabi Hologram’s “Deep Purple”. Here’s my final mani:

Oh yes, I love the new addition to my stash. A girl can never have too many holos!

Orange & Blood red matte polishes

Manglaze! I’ve liked them since I got to know them!

Today I’ll show you something cool I did with two of them. At least I think it’s cool, and I hope you think so too!

I started out with Butt Taco, which is a bright matte orange. The formula is great, and not at all difficult as some mattes are. The polish just glided right on! I used two coats for full opacity. Drying time is good – although don’t let this baby fool you. It looks dry easily a minute before it actually is dry! :D

And let me tell you something: I’m not into orange polishes at all, but I friggin’ love this! Let me show you what I’m talking about; here’s two coats, no topcoat:

Manglaze: Butt Taco

Is that cool or what?? Here’s another shot!

Then I decided to make sort of a dip-dye mani. I used a makeup sponge, mixed some dollops of Butt Taco with some dollops of Fatty’s Got more Blood and dapped that onto my nails. It wasn’t my intention for my nails to look the same. Here’s the result:

I have to say that I really, really like this!

You know I like things shiny, don’t you? I like shiny things so much that I applied a layer of Poshé topcoat over my mani, to see what that might look like. Take a look for yourself:

That makes the colours even more pretty in my opinion. I like how the shimmers show up so much more.

I have to say that I’m still loving the few Manglaze polishes I’ve got. They’re cool colours, and I love my polishes to be shiny, so I’m happy that these mattes look absolutely fabulous with a topcoat!

A mix of pink and purple holo hex glitter and holo particles

Let me show you another Alanna Renee polish. I showed you “Snips &Snails & Puppy Dog Tails” the other day, and today it’s “Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice” which I’m going to show off. I think the names are a bit long, but seriously, I love them! Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice is a mix of pink and purple holographic hexagons and glitters, mixed with holographic particles. It sounds like my kind of polish, doesn’t it.

I chose another Golden Rose Matte Velvet as underwear for this pretty glitter, namely #107, which is purple with shimmer. A beauty, which is well pigmented and dries really fast. I’ll show you what it looks like at the end of this post.

I placed some striping tape on my nails before I applied the glitter. I pulled it off again right after application, and while the glitter was still wet. On these first pictures it isn’t really visible what effect that had, because these first pictures are taken in full sunshine. There’s a layer of topcoat over, btw.

Take a look at how pretty it is:

On this next picture you can almost see the stripes. Check the middle nail, that is the one it shows the most on.

I really like the look of this glitter!

This picture is taken in daylight, but out of the sun. That shows the stripes really well, and I love that I made that detail!

I promised you to show you the Golden Rose Matte Velvet I used as underwear. The entire collection is great as base for other stuff. They’re pretty much all one coaters and dry really fast. If I had worn this #107 alone, I would have applied two coats, but this dear ladies, is just one coat:

Here’s the latest addition to my small but much loved Ellagee collection. When I first saw swatches of Another Notch in my Lipstick Case (ANIMLC) I was like: WOW! You should know by now that I’m a sucker for holos – and I have a soft spot for reds too. So yes – welcome to my stash!

Application was easy and the drying time is really good. I just used my regular base coat, and had no problems with dragging or bald spots – the polish just behaves. I like that! It takes two coats to reach full opacity.

I didn’t apply topcoat yet – you know I’m not done yet anyway! Here’s what two coats and no topcoat looks like. The picture is taken with flash:

Isn’t that just gorgeous?! Here’s another one taken with flash:

The polish is more muted when it’s out of the sun (and flashlights). It’s a bit dusty, but I actually still like it a lot! Have a look for yourself:

Then I made some random dots on it. I made a number of white dots on all my nails, then I dotted ANIMLC on top of some of the white dots. When that was dry I applied a layer of topcoat. And here’s a picture of the final mani taken with flash:

I have a feeling that my small collection of Ellagee polishes will grow a bit over time. So far I’ve loved what I’ve tried on. I actually can’t wait to try them again when the sun comes back to my hemisphere :)

Royal blue texture with shimmer

Here’s a textured polish I bought last time I was in Germany. Misslyn is originally an Italian brand, but is sold in quite a lot of countries by now – and they do sell really well in Germany.

The formula is great, I’ve never experienced anything else with a Misslyn product. The polish applies easily, dries quick and has a good pigmentation too. It was practically opaque after the first coat, but I applied another one to make sure I gave the polish the best opportunities to shine. This is all good.

Let me show you what two coats and no topcoat looks like:

I love the colour and the shimmer that’s added to the polish! I do love textured polishes, but they definitely need shimmer or glitter to work for me :)

Royal Blue looks a little bit duochromatic in the bottle; at least I can see purple when I flick the bottle in certain angles. This didn’t transfer to my nails though, no matter how much I twisted and turned my fingers! So I decided to help it a little bit. I grabbed a bottle of Pupa glitter, it’s either called N250 or 824, depending on where you look at the bottle. It’s a blue and violet glitter in a blue jelly base. I dabbed a bit of glitter on each nail with a sponge. I didn’t want the glitter to take over, I just wanted to add a little extra. Here’s how that presented itself:

Can you see how well I controlled myself with the glitter? It’s so easy to go overboard in it, and that was not my intention! :D

Then I finished the whole thing off by stamping on it. I used stamping plate DRK-A, and I stamped with Essie’s “Nothing else metals”, which is a great polish for stamping! I didn’t apply a topcoat. Here’s the final mani:

I bought the Misslyn polishes I’ve got when I shopped in Karstadt, and I’ll definitely be checking them out next time I’m going to Germany. Hopefully it won’t be too long before that happens.

A mix of red and blue holo hex glitter, and holo particles

I love painting my nails, there’s no doubt about that. I also prefer to make some kind of nail art on them. Ordinary ‘plain’ can look cool – but not on me, haha! So what do I do when life gets in the way and time for painting my nails is limited? Allow me to show you an example.

I spent less than 20 minutes on this mani! I grabbed two polishes. The first one is a one coater from Golden Rose’s Matte Velvet collection: #104, which is lovely denim blue with shimmer. It’s got a great formula, covers in one coat, and dries fast. Totally win! But let me save that till last, because that was just the underwear for a new glitter which I bought from Norway Nails: Alanna Renee’s “Snips & Snails & Puppy Dog Tails”. It’s a great looking glitter, but it does require three coats to be opaque, and drying time is only average, and I just hadn’t got time for that.

I applied one layer of the glitter over the denim blue Golden Rose. The formula was great and the glitter spread out evenly and effortlessly. Drying time is, like I just mentioned, average, and when it was almost dry, I applied a layer of Poshé topcoat. Ét voila: my mani was done in a little more than 15 minutes. Perfect. Take a look at how pretty it ending up being:

I’m glad I picked a denim blue as underwear for this – that way both the light blue and the red glitters show up clearly.

The sun wasn’t cooperative (he’s going to have to work *very* hard to get a kiss from now on!), and so all the pics in this post are taken with flash.

I really like the mix of glitters here, and I will try and make it opaque on its own one day, when I’ve got more than 20 minutes to do my nails.

That’s it. Less than 20 minutes later I was ready to continue with all the stuff I was busy with. I think these two polishes are a perfect match – and I’ll definitely do something like this again on those extra busy days.

Allow me to show you my last two L. A. Girls 3D Effect polishes. One of them has ended up being my favourite of the bunch. Can you guess which one? If not, please continue, dear reader - it will be revealed shortly!

The formula is great. It applies easily and covers really well, and two easy coats is what it takes to make these two pretties look great. Drying time between coats is good, no worries in that department.

I was lucky that the sun was shining for a short period of time. I rushed to take these pictures, so you can see how they sparkle as from within.

I decided to copy myself. I found some “fluffy” stickers I bought in Accessorize a long while ago:

I applied a heart on each of my ring fingers and a bigger heart on each of my thumbs. And then I stamped a heartbeat line on the rest of the nails, using stamping plate Mash-38 and stamped with a no name black stamping polish. I didn’t apply topcoat, because that dissolved the glue on the stickers last time I did this (oh, how I laughed!). So here you go – my final mani. The first picture is taken in daylight:

And then the sun came out again to play, hurrah!

I love this!

There was a sales assistant in Sephora that nearly swooned over this. I tried to explain the wonders of stamping to her, but even though I simplified it a lot, she looked as if she considered that it would be really difficult and not something for her. I like it when my manis get noted by people around me. It’s cool!

Oh, and in case you didn’t guess it already: It’s Sparkle Ruby that turned out to be my favourite of this collection!

I am not the only holo lover who has fallen for the pretty New Prism holographic polishes from Dance Legend. When I saw that there was a purple with a fantastic name like Cosmic Rainbow, I just knew that it had to be a winner!

Application was easy. I just used my regular basecoat, and had no problems with dragging or anything. Just smooth application, that’s all. And it takes two easy coats to make this present itself the prettiest! The smell is a little bit odd, not bad, just odd. I can easily live with that.

Let me show you how pretty this is in the sunshine. Two coats – no topcoat:

Aren’t the rainbows just the prettiest? I’m definitely into this polish!

 I went for some really simple nail art: Stripes. I used two striper polished from Claire’s: A black and a silver. And then I made three stripes with each colour on each nail. I made them in three different lengths because I thought that would look pretty cool. And behold, it does look cool! Take a look:

I love this! This is so me!

I only have positive words about Dance Legend’s New Prism polishes. They’ve got great formula, good drying time and great colours. And the holos are in your face holos, just like I prefer them! Thumbs up from me, no doubt about that! ♥
