Let me start this blog with a nail polish I bought quite recently.
It’s from Wet N Wild, and is called Night Prowl. It has a black base with an infusion of dark purple glitter. I was sceptical when I bought it, because I’ve heard quite a lot of fairly negative stuff about Wet N Wild. It’s a cheap brand – which is not necessarily a bad thing in itself, but I’m sure you know what I mean. You do tend to get what you pay for, and this particular product is not an exception to that rule.
The first layer left me with a very bad impression. The black was very sheer, and the glitter was almost non-existent. I applied the second coat, and that helped a bit, but I was still not satisfied, so I applied a third coat. That definitely helped. Now I had a black base, with pretty purple glitter sprinkled over. I still had a couple of bald spots despite the three layers, but three layers are as far as I go.

The colour is very dark, but nonetheless pretty. I would have liked a bit more of a kapow! effect from the purple glitter, and I’m sure lots of people thought I was just wearing black. It is quite attractive when seen in the sunshine though.
I applied this on a Friday afternoon after I got home from work. It had already started chipping by Saturday midday, which is just not acceptable in my book. I work in an office, which can be pretty rough on the nails, but I hadn’t been to work at all after applying it, and in these easy circumstances the nail polish should definitely last for more than a day.
Opacity: 4/10

I still like my Wet N Wild polishes, just because they are a fun cheapie brand, but if they aren't even lasting you 24 hours, that's just no good. Mine usually last at least a couple of days, which is good enough since I like to change my polish every 2-3 days.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little leery of their new quick dry line though, since it seems that one is really sheer. I don't like to do more than two coats, with base coat and top coat, four coats of stuff is enough work! At least with the Wild Shine line some of them are better pigmented.
I never did pick up Night Prowl, I don't like polishes that pass for black indoors, I want them to look like the color they are at all times, because if I want to wear black, I will put on a black polish! Not a purple/green/blue/ etc that "looks" black.
Their quick dry line is not available here, so I haven't tried it out yet. If it does show up, I might not buy it, since I don't like sheer polish much.
ReplyDeleteAs for how long it lasts - I'm satisfied if a nail polish lasts for 3 days+. I don't think I've time for applying it more than twice a week, because like you, I usually put on base coat, two layers of polish + a top coat. And even with fast dries it takes time in between the layers.
