China Glaze ~ Cosmic Dust

China Glaze ~ Cosmic Dust
Light silvery grey holo

When China Glaze came out with the Hologlam collection last spring, I ordered a bunch of them. I was surprised to see Cosmic Dust in my package, since I hadn’t ordered it. Instead there was another polish missing, so I wrote to the company who sent the package and asked what to do. They said to me that they would send the missing polish and that I could just keep Cosmic Dust. Score!

However, since I hadn’t ordered Cosmic Dust to begin with, it got to sit unnoticed in the box of untrieds for a very long time. But today is the day it’s going to shine.

I started out with a layer of aqua basecoat because I know the Hologlam collection likes that in general. The formula is a bit thin, but the polish applies easily over the aqua basecoat. Two coats are what it takes to make it opaque and dries fast between the coats.

The sun was out which is a huge plus when the holos are being aired.

So take a look at two coats, no topcoat:

Shiny, eh? :) It was tricky to catch the rainbows though, but here’s a fair attempt:

And another one. The holo flame is light blue, which suits the silver grey just perfectly.

I stamped on it. Yes – yes I did. Out of character, I know...so I used a motif from my XL stamping plate M, and I stamped with a no name stamping polish. And when I looked at the final result, all I could think of was that I had made a psychedelic zebra!

I must admit that I like this much more than I thought I would!

It’s not often I wear just grey and black, but sometimes it’s nice to do something completely different, and this really grew on me.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Fast
Durability: Not the best, to be honest
Finish: Linear holo, pretty, but not amazing!
Overall impression: If you like silver holos, then this is a pretty cool polish. It’s not my favourite one though.
Buy again: No

  2. What a nice seller! You scored a free polish :-) It's nice and the pattern is cool too :-)

I was excited when these first came out and have only tried one. It was a really sunny day (rare over here!) and it looked stunning. My impression from seeing other blogs is that these holos are quite subtle compared to others. I will need to try some of the others for myself when we get some sunshine.

And yes, it was a very nice seller indeed! I have now given the polish to one of my friends :)
