OPI ~ Smok’n in Havana

OPI ~ Smok’n in Havana
Brick toned red with golden shimmer

Smok’n in Havana is probably my oldest OPI. It was part of OPI’s Spring 1996 Caribbean collection. It hasn’t been with me for that long though.

The formula is good and easy to work with. It covers in two coats and the drying time is average. The smell is odd; not bad, just odd. It seems to be the older polishes that smell the weirdest.

My photos aren’t quite colour accurate today, I could not quite capture the brick/terracotta tone in the red. Here it is anyway: Two coats and no topcoat in the sun:

Not colour correct

Here’s a low light picture. The colour is almost right, but not 100%.

I topped it with my new glitter/holo topper from NailNation 3000: Glimmering Hope. Here’s how Maria from NailNation describes it herself:

Did you love Northern Lights? Fairy Dust? But wanted more? Well here it is! A medium holo base filled to the brim with ULTRA fine scattered holographic microns!! this looks so good over just aboout anything! Smooth application even coverage! add 1 or as many coats as you like for added effects!

And I agree. This is an awesome topper.

Here’s a sunshine picture:

I added some coloured stones to two of my nails. It’s actually nail stickers, how cool is that?!

How old is your oldest nail polish? Do you know?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Pleasant colour, and I love the shimmer in the sun. I wish it was more visible in lower lights too.
Buy again: Yes

    1. Glimmering Hope is a true gem! I'll see if I can get my hands on a back up bottle, because I think I'm going to use it a lot :D

  8. That is the kind of topper that makes everything better :D The OPI is nice but a little boring. A solid red.
My oldest polishes are around 4 years old. They are drugstore polishes from essence, Manhattan and from Kiko.
