Julie G Gumdrops ~ Ho Ho Ho & Sleigh Ride

Julie G Gumdrops ~ Ho Ho Ho & Sleigh Ride
Pink texture with glitter and blue texture with glitter

I’m a fan of textured polishes, and especially the ones with either shimmer or glitter in them. I had these two beautiful Julie G polishes in a package from a secret santa in a group that I’m in on Facebook, and I was absolutely thrilled when I saw she had included them in the package. They are from the latest Christmas collection, and they’re gorgeous.

I made a gradient with them. I tried out masking around my nails with liquid latex first and after than was dry, I sponged on the two colours. I shall not pretend that it was easy for me to work with the latex, and it didn’t work out quite as planned either, but - this was my first attempt, and I shall practice with it some more to see if I can get better at it

I found it quite hard to get close enough to the cuticles with the latex, and I also kept getting my fingers stuck together, which was a pain, grrr! :D But anyway – It did minimize the clean up some, which was the entire point of it in the first place. I just have to decide if it’s worth all the buggering about with the latex, to save a bit of cleaning up after the polish application. I might just be swapping the mess from one end of the procedure to the other.

Here’s my gradient:

I sponged twice, so this is two layers, and the drying time between layers was extremely fast, yay.

After I had sponged the second time, I removed the latex from around my nails. That was really easy, phew!

I couldn’t really get the two colours to blend together, but to be honest I don’t mind that so much. I still think this is pretty.

As I said: I’m going to practice more with masking with liquid latex, so I can do more gradients without the tedious and often very difficult clean ups. I also need to figure out how to actually clean the brush, because that one I used this time is definitely a gonner.

But: I love these two textured polishes, and I am SO pleased with how this mani came out!
