Miss Ashleigh ~ Supernova

Miss Ashleigh ~ Supernova
purple to blue thermal polish, with magenta circle glitter, silver hex glitter mix, silver stars and scattered holo throughout

Last time I got my monthly box from Norway Nails, I was so lucky to receive an extra polish; Supernova from Miss Ashleigh. I was thrilled – I’ve eyed that polish several times when I’ve browsed the webshop.

But allow me to start this blog post by answering a question. Last time I posted a thermal polish I was asked if it was fun “in real life” too, and not just under the tap. And I understand the question completely – I mean, it’s fun with a polish that can actually “do” something, but not really if it’s just under running water.

When I applied this polish I didn’t know that it was a thermal. It applied in two easy and pretty fast drying coats, and it turned out the most pretty redtoned purple with various glitters. I loved it! Then I went to the mall to buy Christmas presents. And this is where the magic happened. I have very often cold hands, but this time of year it’s SO warm in the malls here, and my hands got warm. At some point I looked at my nails (I know I’m not the only polish addict who does that!), and my nails looked blue – all the red tones were gone. I looked in disbelief until it struck me – and I said to my boyfriend: I think I’m wearing a thermal polish today!! A couple of hours later we went to have something to eat, and that’s where I saw a chance to test it out: I dipped a finger in my cold Pepsi Max, and bingo: The red-toned purple was back.

So the simple answer to the question I was asked is: Yes, it does make sense, and yes, these polishes are really fun during the day too, and not just under tapwater.

Here’s what two coats and one layer of Poshé topcoat looks like when my hands are warm:

And since I can’t control whether my hands are warm or cold – here’s a pic with semi-wet hands – warm on the two first fingers, cold on the last two:

The polish changes colour pretty fast – I really like that!

Here’s a fun picture taken while the tap is still running:

And one last shot when it’s changing back to being the same colour on all nails:

This polish is so much more than I imagined it would be! I mean, I totally fell in love with the reddish purple and the glitter, and the name is fabulous: Supernova. But that it came with the bonus of being an unannounced thermal polish, that’s just fantastic! Polished thumbs up for Supernova!
