Musical Mani Monday, week 1: Marina and the Diamonds: Radioactive

Welcome to the first week of my new music challenge. I’ve chosen a number of songs that I want to translate into nail art. I may let the lyrics inspire me, the video or even the name of the song.

First song up is Marina and the Diamonds with “Radioactive”. The song is from the the deluxe edition of her second studio album, Electra Heart from 2012. Her real name is Marina Lambrini Diamandis and she is from Wales.

Here’s what I came up with:

Pretty, no? I want to show you what inspired me:

Red shirt with white stars – I love that. And the sprinkled on glitter on my tips represents the diamonds in the band name. I think it’s cool.

Allow me to break the mani down for you.
I started out with two coats of Thunderous Sparks from Pahlish. That’s a Rich cherry red jelly base with a mix of red metallic glitter and various pink/violet shimmers and flakes – I love it!
Two coats, sweet ladies, and a layer of Poshé topcoat:

This polish is so me!

It’s like kryptonite! Be still my heart!

Did I mention that I love this polish?

Then I stamped the stars on. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Whirlwind White”, my default white stamping polish, and I found the stars on a XL plate called “K – Holiday Designs”. I didn’t add another layer of topcoat just yet.

I love the way the polish sparkles from within and the stars just makes it prettier!

One more shot, I just couldn’t stop taking picture of it!

Then I sponged the glittery “diamonds” on. I used a silver glitter from German P2, “Let’s Dance!” I finished the whole thing off with another layer of Poshé topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I obviously don’t know if you’ve heard Radioactive, but here’s the video anyway, in case you want to check it out.

That was the first challenge in my Music Mani Monday. Stay tuned next week to see how I interpret Boy George’s Karma Chameleon!

Let's see if others decided to join this challenge:
