A2Z Challenge: C is for Copycat

It’s time for a copycat mani. At some point we’re all copycats, aren’t we? I mean, only few of us actually come up with something original, like, for the very first time. Today I’m going to try and copy a mani Kas made back in June. Kas is a blogger I admire a lot – she’s so super talented and has many great and unusual ideas. I like that.

Here’s my copycat mani:

And here’s Kas’ original mani (click here to read the full post)

Mine is obviously not as perfect as hers, but I’m satisfied with it anyway. I did the mani in a different order than Kas too. I started out with painting my nails white – I used a single coat of NailNation 3000’s “White” – my new favourite white crème polish. When that was dry I taped the tips of my nails and painted the blue. I used a textured polish from Sephora’s X-series: Vortex. It’s an amazing shimmery texture! When that was dry I painted the black stripes on the tips. I used Heavy Metal from Manic Panic. I didn’t use striping tape for this step like Kas did – I was afraid I might pull some of the polish right off again.

There is a little bit of the blue that bled through the tape and onto the white. Did you noticed that before I mentioned it?

I ended up topcoating it because I wanted to see what it looked like. I love the final result:

And here are the three polishes and the topcoat I used for my copycat mani.

Who would you have copycat’ed if you were to do this challenge?

I can’t wait to next week, where the challenge is Dark.

  6. You did a fabulous job! I feel like a proud mother :P

I almost got Vortex(it's super pretty), but I decided against it because I thought it was too close to Essie Lots of Lux(which I bought on sale).

    1. Ahahahaha, that's really funny! :D
I have also got Lots of Lux, but I must admit that I do like Vortex better. I know it is more expensive too, but I'm willing to pay that - and then get rid of the Essie :)
