Too Fancy Lacquer ~ This Love is Smokin’ Hot

Too Fancy Lacquer ~ This Love is Smokin’ Hot
Hot pink scattered holo

I might as well tell you right away: This mani did not end the way I wanted it too. Stay tuned and find out why!

I started with This Love is Smokin’ Hot as my base. It’s an amazing hot pink with scattered holo effect. The formula is good and easy to work with. I used two coats and the drying time between coats was good.

Here’s a sunshine picture of what that looked like:

This polish is such a beauty, I really like it!

I painted two red stripes on each nail, and then I got my stamping gear out. And this is where it all went wrong.

Allow me to share a story about stamping plates with you.

Step into my Tardis and let us travel backwards in time, all the way back to Black Monday, when Bundlemonster had a sale. I bought a set of plates and was happy when they finally arrived. A little while later I wanted to try them out. I quickly discovered that over half of them weren’t etched deeply enough, so when I scraped the polish off (ever so carefully) there was nothing left in the design on the plate. So nothing got picked up by my stamper, and consequently I was disappointed and (I’m sure you’re not surprised to be told) cheesed off in a fairly major way.

I wrote to Bundlemonster and explained my problem. They said they would get back to me. Nothing happened, so I wrote again. They said they would re-send the faulty plates. And oh yes, I had to test all the plates and tell them which numbers were faulty. Bah. I tested all of them – each and every one - and found 14 out of 25 plates were not fit for purpose.

After a while the replacement plates showed up and I was happy again. Tra la la. And no, I didn’t test them right away, I didn’t imagine for a moment that they’d send me other bunch of faulty plates. But today, Ladies, I discovered that at least some of the replaced plates are indeed faulty, just as before. Same issue – design not etched deeply enough to be usable. And that’s where my mani went to H*ll, breakfast, elevenses and back. I wanted to stamp “LOVE” and “HATE” on my nails from the plate BM-426 and it turns out that the friggin’ “L” is the only one of the individual designs that actually works! Argh!!! Happy camper, not.

So I’ll spare you from all the cursing and ranting and stomping about that I did and instead I’ll show you my (not so) final mani:

Bummer, right? So now I have got to write to Bundlemonster again and ask them to: a) resend some plates that actually work, or b) refund me the faulty plates.

I do prefer option a) to be honest!

  2. I LOVE this pink, as you might remember, I'm the happy owner of it too!
OH damn about those plates and you are so right, how come they send faulty plates as replacement - maybe this series simply are faulty - or a lot of them are... :(

    1. I agree, I would have expected them to make sure that the new plates weren't faulty, but no :(
And yes, I know you own this, and that is a great thing! :)

  3. Oh my, what a hassle with the plates. I wonder if I have some bad ones and just don't know it because I haven't tried them all yet.

  4. What a gorgeous polish - I love it! :-)

I've never really tried stamping. I got a cheap plate and tried it - seemed okay but I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one lol!

    1. Thank you :)
Well it was obvious that it was bad because I ended up with no polish on the stamper at all, LOL!

    1. The replacement plates have arrived, and I'll be testing them this weekend. I surely hope they work otherwise I might give up on them. It's a shame though, because this is my fourth set of Bundlemonster plates and I have had zero problems with the three first sets :/
