Ellagee ~ Rainbow Syrup
holographic topcoat
I’ve been testing out a few holo topcoats, but I haven’t really found ‘my’
one yet. So I thought I would try out Ellagee’s Rainbow Syrup.
I tried it out on two different polishes. The first one is a lilac
packed with silver shimmer from Coolcos. It hasn’t got a name but it’s number
03. I applied a coat of Rainbow Syrup, which applied easily and dried fast.
Here’s the effect I got out of it:
Pretty rainbows, yes?
Just allow me to enjoy the holoness for a sec, will ya? ;)
Here’s the polish I applied it over:
This may not be the best polish to show the effect over, so I tested it
with another one as well. This time I chose another Coolcos, a lovely green
with teal shimmer, number 10.
Here’s one coat of Rainbow Syrup over the green:
This one shows off the effect much better. The silvery shimmer in the
lilac kind of drowned some of the rainbow effect.
*swoon*
Here’s what number 10 looks like on its own:
Verdict:
One of the reasons I wanted to try out another holo topper is because
the ones I’ve already tried greyed the colour underneath a lot. I’ve learned
that the stronger the holo effect, the more greying out of the base colour. I
have to say that Rainbow Syrup is the best holo topper I’ve tried so far. The
greying of the base colour is minimal and the effect is still good. I love the
formula and the drying time too, so I can’t really see anything but wins, wins
and more wins here!
Number of coats: One. Two
for stronger holo effect
Drying time: Fast
Drying time: Fast
Finish: Holographic
goodness in a bottle
Overall impression: Great
holo topper! Great quality, great everything!
Buy again: Yes, definitely!
This is a gorgeous holo top coat! I think it looks nice over both colors but I especially love it over the green.
ReplyDeleteI like it the best over green, because it shows more of the beauty :)
DeleteGosh rainbow syrup is the first holographic topcoat I have seen which doesn't gray out the base colour too much. Good score. I'm gonna hunt for that one.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed too, that's for sure. I might even get myself a backup bottle because I think I'm going to use this a lot :)
DeleteWow, that green is gorgeous, and it looks even more stunning with the holo top coat! Swoon indeed! :D
ReplyDelete~ Yun
I love it when you swoon over a polish! :D
DeleteSounds good! I don't yet have a holo topper.
ReplyDeleteI have a few but this is my favourite :)
DeleteIt looks very well. Today I posted Flormar that can be used both ways, as a topper and as a regular nail polish but it greyed the color base...
ReplyDeleteI will check that out shortly for sure :)
DeleteWHOA! You know I'm already in love with this!!! LOve it!
ReplyDeleteYes sweetie, I knew you'd be! :)
DeleteI looks really nice and it probably would show even stronger rainbows over darker colors, but it's cool over the green!
ReplyDeleteI really like it over the green. I wasn't in the mood for darker colours :) I tried over pink but the pictures weren't good enough.
DeleteIt's beautiful! Must have for sparkly nails :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd we loooove sparkly nails :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous topper! I love it :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you do :)
Deleteglad to hear this holo topper doesn't grey your base color! I haven't actually tried a holo topper yet I still have one sitting in my untrieds!
ReplyDeleteReally? You should try it soon - while the sun is still out :)
